.  Just ticks me off.

So...do we have a chance to bounce back this week?   :D
Bounce BACK ???  come on give the boys some credit ... 85 yards in total O , WE never left :o  pretty hard to bet that  on the " SO CALLED # 8 IN THE COUNTRY "  and put up over  329 yards in bad weather too ?

NO disrespect to L& C ,I 'm just happy to see them finish the season this year..  0 & 9 looks better than   0 for 0 last  year in the NWC..

YOU BET GO cats...

It's better to be $issed off than $issed on  ;D

When you get to be as old as coco people (east of the Cascades) will not remember anything about rain and turnovers only breaking a 30-year drought and a conference title (please, do not embarrass yourselves by giving out rings). Good luck to the NWC conference champion.

Is that what we're eating now?

Very too bad IF Occidental has to travel out to the hinterlands because few people will get to see a game of Clark and Collins.
OXY, no indoor stadium out Spokane way. Take those warmers.

desertcat1... I never could have heard my cell anyways.
I waited in line like the pooper-scooper at a round up, scudded the outskirts of the dance floor ('no thank you ma'am, I'm looking for someone') and checked under every brim from 9:30 'til 11:00. Sorry.  I didn't feel like celebrating anything anyway.

Talk about long winters....

I have no idea who the guy you are comparing him to is but I have seen one former Wildcat RB play.

Well...you can see some clips of D. Russell in this reel (#25):  2002 Wartburg Playoff Game.  Was it 4 or 5 TD's in this game?  About at the 2:12 mark is an example of why he's held in high regard in terms of running backs in Linfield history.

Well, now that I have the shock and grief out of my system and stopped trying to analyze what should have,  could have, or would have happened if Linfield beat Whitworth, I  would like to congratulate the Pirates on the victory.  Over the past few years I think most Cat posters would agree, the biggest hurdle and rivalry for the Cats has changed and for this year Whitworth stands on top of the heap.

The victory for Whitworth or loss for Linfield was not pretty Saturday as you can't win a game with that many turn overs and several of them occurring that allowed Whitworth to score or kept Linfield out of the scoring column.  Although like many fans I might not agree with some strategic play calling, but then that it why they are the coaches and I am a fan.

Given the fact that Linfield is most assured of missing the playoffs this year I really do think it is too bad.  We held our destiny in our hands and could not get it done.  Many of the acts are young, we had an in-experienced QB, and lacked some basic fundementals that I am sure will get better next year.   Given a Linfield win at LC next week ending at 6-3 I did find some comfort in the fact that the 3 losses came to schools who are a combined 23-4, two D3 teams currently ranked #7 and #9 loosing on the road in Texas to Hardin Simmons by 14 and at home to Whitworth by 4, and to a very much improved DII school which more than likely will finish 7-3 on the season and in the DII top 25.

With the youth on the team, the change of head coaches and assistant coaching positions, and the pressure on the team to win by the fans I for one am very proud of the Cats of this season and look forward to next year.

It is only too bad that a 6-3 team with a much tougher schedule looses out when 8-1 teams with much weaker schedules gets in.  I am sure this will be proven again and the west is the best in DIII.

Now it is up to Whitworth to do the NWC proud and the rest of the West teams to show that is where DIII football is really played.

GO PIRATES, GO WEST - Bring it home at the Stagg Bowl.

I posted my thoughts of the game yesterday, but now I have to pipe in on Topcats post.

My feelings are, If WW doesn't show more Offense, and better Defense, in the playoffs, it will be a 1 and out no matter who they play! Also, UPS will not be a push over, Lee could be a spoiler if he can rush like he is capable of. With no automatic bid, WW better bring their A game Saturday. Good luck!

I wish them well, as we always support the NWC representative. I'm sure the weather had something to do with Clarks performance. It's just the Cats moved the ball well, I expected more from the Pirates I guess.

GHC, what should I do with your umbrella besides use it today! I'll be at L&C with cawcdad this weekend.  Let me know?
Lets have some fun this weekend.....GO CATS

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

The twins get here tomorrow yeeeee haaaaaw.   ;)

Go Cats

Actually, GHC, I made a vat of clam chowder on Friday night just for you, and had the bowls and spoons ready as well. Then in a magnificent Julia Child moment I forgot about it on the stove. Pretty soon Coco went into the kitchen and it was just boiling and burning away. I tried to leave the burned part on the bottom and scoop out the good part, but it still had a funny burned taste, so I was too embarrassed to take it on Saturday.
FM76 will verify this, as he had some after the game. Maybe next year I can manage to do it right.

Speaking of DRuss, Little Coco usually talks to him after the games, as he likes to keep up on how the 'Cats are doing. He and his wife are expecting a baby in the spring.

Hey all.

I'd first like to say congrats to the Rats. We can make all the excuses we want that we, quite literally, gave you every chance to win it but the reality is we couldn't hang on to the ball and your guys could.

I'm still in a bit of a shock that we had such a mind-numbing case of the butterfingers and I've had the great displeasure of having to work all weekend and today with visions of what SHOULD have happened but didn't. That was a tough loss, no two ways about it, and I feel badly for the seniors who have to go out with that one (L&C not withstanding).

I feel like I have a hangover but didn't have the pleasure of having fun to get it.

This must have been a jinxed weekend or something football-wise because it wasn't even a good weekend for fantasy football in our household. My wife had Chicago's Defense and I had Tom Brady for my QB.   :P
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

Gig Harbor Cat

I can't believe I left it there.  Its raining up here like a cow pissing on a flat rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just give it to Wildcat 11.  We will see him on turkey day.  Thanks.  Did Mrs Topcat fill you in on my request ?  drop me an EMail.  I wont be down for L & C.  I have a coaching clinic to go to up here.  Hey, its almost baseball season isn't it ???

thanks  GHC

There is still a chance Linfield may make the playoffs. Some things have to happen and I'm not sure of all the details but right now it looks like we are on the bubble and it may come down to some secondary criteria...for example, the teams we lost to compared to the teams the other bubble teams lost to, etc. So we still may have a shot. Don't count us out yet.

Hope and pray.... ::)

Tux,

I hope you are feeling better today.   Linfield loosing was just as much of a shock as not having Tux at the TG.  We missed you my man.  Missed the beef too, but missed your company the most.  I know it must have been very bad to have you at  home listening to DnD instead of at the game.  I kept wishing for the Cats to pull it all out for Tux but the cards just weren't in the deck.

Keep ourself well and  Mrs Topcat and I will be thinking about you.    ;D  ;D

(509) Rat,
I enjoyed your cartoon.   Wildcat fans are always doing things like that.
I won't get upset at you and assume you can just laugh at some of our posters.   I take it only as simple rivalry fun.    Looking forward to visiting Spokane next year---to get even!

DT48,
I agree, comparing Wildcat backs with David Russell is not fair.    He was exceptional.  The best I ever saw at Linfield---in his senior year.   And, in the same two years, Marty Williams was very good also.   But, I do remember games in 2001 where neither looked very effective.   They were juniors then.   As seniors they really came on.

Do you or anyone know why Montalvo didn't play?    For a sophomore, he had a pretty good year.

topcat1,
I like your analysis of the whole year.   Very wise.   Yes, after years 2002-2005, some us, like me, became a little spoiled with such success.   I can't wait until next year.

GO CATS! GO 2007!
