Hey 509 WT, whats your take on daddy's boy playing so many positions ?

wildcat11

GHC,

Tully is 6'3" with some decent speed and decent hands...so I can understand why they bring him in for their 5 wide sets.  They don't really have any other big play WR's so I can get why he's included.

Returning kicks...same deal....I don't think they want Clark doing that so that leaves Tully as probably their best returning threat.  He plays with a real arrogance but that probably helps him to be a solid player.

Tully is no Brandon Hazenberg but he's the Rats best multi-tool guy.

WC11, What did you think about them having Allan set out wide at times? Seems it was a given they were going to throw to him in those situations (at least against the 'Cats). I would think they would try and disguise him a little more and let him run over people in the middle. Maybe they think he still has the advantage as a wideout?

Foss,

I think if Whitworth had another dangerous WR that could line up on the other side of the field it would really be tough on defenses when they split Allen out.  If I was Oxy I would have two dudes on him all the time and dare the other WR's make Oxy pay the price.  If you can double Allen and put pressure on Clark then you are going to shut them down (ala Linfield).

I do remember him hurting us in 2005 while at the TE and slot position and he did have 250 yards last week so it seems that Whitworth is putting him in positions to make plays.

Allen is all they got...Clark doesn't even look at anybody else when he snaps it.  I agree,  Allen wouldn't be the guy to beat me if I was Oxy.  They need to double him and punish his ass all day...if Oxy can't cover the other stiffs one on one then in the famous words of Dennis Green, "they are who we thought they were!!"

11 - good call on the Jay Tully situation.  You described it as I would've.

DT - the NWC coaches considered one of those "stiffs" good enough to be First Team All-NWC (Silva).

Congrats to Clark, Clifton and Tully for the NWC awards.

645 yds and 3 td's...WOW!  There are running backs that have those receiving numbers.

1st team all NWC WR ain't saying much this year.  Nobody over 1000 yards and nobody with more than 8 TD's.

Like Denny said, if Silva beats OXY, "they are who we thought they were!!"

DT - just so were on the same page, by your definition Kaluza and Vierra are also stiffs, since they had fewer catches and fewer yards.

Also, Allan had nine TD catches this year.

Last time I checked Allan wasn't a WR, re-read my post.  Kaluza and Vierra didn't set the world on fire, but so we're on the same page, they play for Linfield so by definition they can't be stiffs! :-*

Just pulled this article off of Yahoo:  What I want to know is when the "crowd of parents ran onto the field and surrounded the pair" were they pulling them apart, chanting 'fight, fight, fight', or joining in on the assault?  If it weren't Texas I'd be asking which of our posters were the angry Dad! :)

Texas officials consider charges against Pee Wee football coach videotaped attacking referee

November 15, 2006

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Authorities are considering charges against a Pee Wee football coach who was caught on videotape attacking a referee after being told to stop cursing on the sidelines in front of his 5- and 6-year-old players, police said.

The amateur video of the Nov. 4 incident shows the coach charging onto a field and tackling the 18-year-old referee, who police Capt. John Houston said was briefly knocked unconscious.

"The coach had been warned several times about cursing on the sidelines. When the referee ejected him from the game, that's when he rushed him," Houston said.

A crowd of parents ran onto the field and surrounded the pair, he said.

Investigators plan to meet with Nueces County prosecutors to determine if the coach and at least one other man should face charges, Houston said. He said assault on a game official is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Police did not release the identities of the coach or the referee.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
