Sabretooth Tiger

Congratulations to the Pirates on winning what sounds like a hell of a game.  Sorry I missed the bulk of it.

Congratulations to the Tigers on a heck of a game.

Go 'Rats, take it to the Johnnies

What a heartstopper of a game, right down to the wire! I'm ready for a beer after that one.

Now the Rats need to get ready for the Johns, and they're used to playing in the cold.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Foss

Final score: Whitworth 27 Oxy 23

Whitworth becomes the 3rd different NWC team to win a playoff game in the last 6 seasons, this one against a top 10 team with one of the best QBs in all of D3 at their helm.

Congratulations Rats!!!

Great game by Oxy, they played a heck of a game - too bad someone had to lose this game.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

dawg gone it

Congrats to the Pirates.....great game and good luck vs the Johnnies.  Congrats to Oxy on a great game played and a great season.

speedybigboy

great game by both teams, by that I mean exciting to listen to

congratulations Whitworth, get ready for St. Johns

dc1, I think that's Oxy 1-3 vs NWC in playoffs (willamette '04?)

I believe the windchill in Pella today was in the 20's.  SJU is used to the cold--don't you worry.  And MN cold is a bit different than WA cold :P

Hope the ankle comes around and the defense gets some sleep.

I can now unequivocally cheer on Whitworth next week.

granted, I actually would expect (off the top of my head) that bad weather is not going to help Whitworth and that SJU is used to it and can handle it.  I was just pointing out that Spokane is not like going to L.A. in November.  or arizona (dc1)  :)

no offense intended.

as Wildcat '64 said earlier, today where I am, it's hovering around zero and the wind has dropped to 20 mph.  I'll let you calculate the wind chill  ;D

(509)Rat

Gutsy game by Collins, #2 (a very good RB) and the rest of their team.  He played a good game but his defense couldn't help him out when it counted.  To Browneagle: I think Whitworth showed who the more tested team was this game.  The game was tight and the Pirates pulled it out, looks like the playoff experience didn't help that much after all.

I think this game showed that Whitworth was a much better team than Oxy.  If Joel Clark is healthy and can move around a little then this game isn't that close.  Plus the Pirates won the game only forcing one turnover while whitworth committed 4.  If you can beat a team as good as Occidental with a seriously banged up QB and a -3 turnover margin you are a good football team.

Congrats Pirates!  Beat the Johnnies (although this presents a problem for the picture I'll be making....what the hell is a johnnie?)!  Hopefully the NCAA doesn't get wrapped up in the fiscal part of the playoffs and give the lower seed a home game simply because they can bring in more money for the NCAA.  That would be a shame!
