Johnnies win 21-3.  Congrats to the Rat players on a good season. They played well today but, in the end, lacked the offense to pull it out.  Johnnies D shut them down.....so ends the NWC season.....again.

Solid effort by the Pirates, though.  Allan sounds like the real deal.  You were a worthy opponent.  Now, we've got to keep it west of the Mississippi!

Congratulations to the Whitworth program for a good run and a great season.  They played hard and did not lose spirit even when it looked like the game was over, as their last drive was a no-quit drive.  They played well and were undefeated in the always-tough NWC.  Here's hoping for another playoff matchup next year-- but that time in Collegeville!

Good game by Whitworth, a (Whit)worthy opponent. Coming into this game St John's had outscored their opponents 91 - 7 in the third quarter. You only allowed that to be padded by 7. Tough slog. Hope next year brings success to your program again.

Clark's still hoblin a little but his ankle seems to be better than it was last week.  Today was a gorgeous day in Spokane, no precipitation up north meaning the field got a chance to dry a little after the downpour the last few days.  Johnnie fans shouldn't expect to see snow unless it comes during game time.  The more and more I look at SJU's record, score, and the occasional game film at a iends house...the more I think Whitworth has a better show than most people are giving them.  I don't think they will need a +2-3 turnover margin to win, and I don't think they will lose simply because of SJU's coaching or experience (Browneagle will tell us otherwise on the playoff experience though).  Should be a good game, hope I can make it to the Pinebowl before too much of the first half is over.  Go Pirates!

Guess you should have watched more game film. They lost because they only scored 3 points and were shut out for 3 quarters. Go figure! Any St. John's players belly slide or do a back flip on the 50 yardline after the win?

Congrats on the great season, Whitworth fans.  Unfortunately, like nearly every team, it had to end with a loss.  Sounded like a great game from the Pacific Northwest.  Hopefully your players will be able to build on their romp through the NWC and first round playoff win and turn it into a rematch at the real "Pine Bowl" next season.

Still room on the Johnnie bandwagon as they make the (impossible?) trip to Whitewater!

Congrats to the Pirates on their season. No shame in losing to the Johnnies, last I checked that was a pretty good team. I only got a chance to listen to bits and pieces of the game, mainly parts of the beginning and end. Sounds like the defense gave the team a chance but the offense only scoring 3 points has to be disappointing. I think Whitworth did fine this postseason - they defeated the team most thought they would beat and lost to the team most thought they would lose to.

Congrats to the Pirates for their outstanding season. It's something to build on, but be forewarned as every CAT will tell you, you're a marked team. Getting to the top is one thing, staying there is another.

Fastest man at the Pine Bowl today was the STREAKER just before the opening kickoff. It appeared to be a RAT - all he had on was a tatoo.

Back to the game - my assessments. Whitworth had their chances,but...

The Johnnies are a blue-collar, metal lunch bucket type of team. No Elliott- type this year (like 2003), but the Johnnies have a core of receivers that ran hard, blocked very well and caught the ball.

Whoever said Gaglardi is a master of half-time adjustments is very, very correct. I really fell the Bucs lost a lot of emotion during the third quarter. St. Johns really shut down Whitworth on both sides of the ball - took 'em out of the game.

Whitworth gave away the flats again, only this time the Johnnies took advantage of it. The Bucs played the option just like St. John's diagramed it in their playbook - opps, they don't have a playbook. Anyway, it sucked.

Again, Whitworth used great unimagination with their offensive scheme, run right, run left, one counter, no crossing pass patterns, but Clark did throw to Allan 300% more than last week. Netted very few yards though.

For the second week in a row, I told the people around me that if the Rats' defensive linemen applied the swim technique during their pass rush, they would be more successful. Do coaches still teach this technique or has it disappeared along with leisure suit?

Finally, I applaud the Johnnie fans. Four chartered busses full of die-hard fans. The visiting fan area was full. The charted flight must have been full, and of course the trip home had to be enjoyable.
