So are you going to tell us or keep us in suspense?
Two words:  THE STREAK

I agree with the expense thing Downtown48. It really puts us in a bind. How does Menlo/Whitworth do it? Both Whitworth and Menlo also schedule 10 games with only 1 out of Division game.   ::)

coco....I'm not sure the game is confirmed/contract signed yet.....I've just heard who the probable replacement is. (I emailed you...)

MonroviaCat

HOpe we're not going back to Eastern Oregon..... :-\
Go Cats!

MonroviaCat

Or any of the Washingtons......  (Western, Central, etc....).

Going for the 'OU trifecta?

Nah, I'm smelling Lumberjacks on this one. Or is that just Azusa mixed in with WOU and SOU?

The 2008 schedule is not set at this point at all....so no need to hit a panic button....yet.

I don't know if we'll still be playing WOU because the Wolves know they have no shot at the DII playoffs with them playing DIII's and NAIA.  WOU could drop everyone else that is not DII BUT still try to keep Linfield.  (My gut says WOU/Linfield is going to keep playing beyond 2007 even if I don't like it)

The HSU game replacement?  I'm still holding out hope that Cal Lutheran or Redlands will accept a home and home. However, I think best case is that we play another WIAC or ASC team...or maybe a MIAC school?  Worse case....we'll be on the west coast but playing an NAIA school in California (that should be easy to figure out).

Isn't Menlo an NAIA school in California?  ;)

Maybe you can schedule Hamline now that Jim Good is head coach there.  ;)

Any recent news on Brett Elliott?  I hadn't heard about him in a while and only thing I could find was when the Chargers waived him from the practice squad this fall.

Wow...talk about a knee-jerk reaction.  I think the point I was ATTEMPTING to make was it wasn't too long ago that all the snipers were ragging on Mount for their D-I transfers.  In the last few years, Mount has had none, and while perusing PP, one of the topics of discussion in many conferences is who is transferring in from where.  I think I was trying to make the point that one of the main reasons for Mount's success is their continuing ability to recruit, and develop from within.

GHC......nice blast......not.

From the "kick in the balls" department comes this bit of news:

Central's 'Miracle in the Mud' featured in new book

Fantastic...I'll be sure to rush out and buy a copy to burn.  The link above even has an audio link from the Dutch radio call from that game.  I almost puked up some egg nog listening to that.  brutal.

Reid Evans...I hope you don't get anything you wanted for Christmas.

D O.C.

Perhaps one of the WILDCAT witnesses would care to pen a different perspective of the Mishap in the Mud.

By the by Wildcat 11...thank-you for the Christmas present of all your video work. Spending Saturday the 16th without power must have made one feel...well, powerless.

Well...I saw it first hand. I was standing right next to TuxGuy. We were standing on the steps heading toward the field for the apparent victory party in the middle of the muddy field. We both jumped up and down with glee as we saw the kicker slip down as he kicked it and saw the ball hit the back of the O-lineman.(btw...there is no way that kicker would have even made that under good conditions...if i remember right he was a back-up kicker as their main guy was hurt and didn't look very sharp/capable all game) Then the scrum ensued, I call it the "scum". It looked like a mass in the middle of the field with a bunch of lineman piled up. People were pouring in from the sidelines as everyone thought the game was over and the play called dead. The pile wasn't going forward or backward from what I remember. It was like in slow motion. That's when most of you have seen the whistle being blown with forward motion being stopped and the play being called dead, you've seen it a million times.....but no, not this time. (several of the players claim to have heard a whistle blowing the play dead....this is what was said by several players right after the game in the post game huddle that I was listening to right after the game ended. I believe this to be the case also but it was so confusing to the officials and everybody else that I believe when they huddled after the game the official who did blow the whistle did not admit to it or played dumb because he knew it would be controversial. The officials were also from the MIAC and they knew that Central would be a less formidable opponent that year vs. SJU  ;D  ) Then all of a sudden you see some guy running toward the end zone untouched as if it was some joke. Anyway that's what I remember.

What I have a question about is this: If you attempt a field goal and you kick it and it hits the back of the O-lineman and goes backwards (or forwards for that matter, I can't say for sure which way the ball bounced maybe someone can remember) can you as the offensive team pick it up and run for a touchdown? Also I'd love to see the hand off on that play. Was it a forward lateral? Was it a flea flicker or Statue of Liberty? Was it a forward pass or reverse pass? ....just exactly what was it and how did it get from the o-lineman to the running back, that's just a mystery to this day. But I'd mainly like to know if you can run in a ball for a touchdown after it's kicked into the o-linemans hind end on a field goal? That may be a pretty cool play we can try sometime...fake a field goal by kicking it into the o-linemans posterior, have it bounce back to the holder and then throw a TD pass to the receiver or have a scrum and secretly hand it off to twinkletoes who skates around the end with a little grin on his face as he scampers to the end zone.

D.O.C....let me know if you need more of the juicy details. I can maybe come up with some more info for the movie after I visit the Elks Lodge and talk to a few other observers. But I would need some expense money first (for research purposes).  ::)
