Probably because they don't believe that a website sells many additional tickets and that building a better performing team does.

Please -- we aren't scared of the John's. I doubt Linfield is, either.

Ha, you just can't beat the Big Red Machine...

>>Why were the Bengals the last team in the NFL to have a Website?<<

What the heck are you talking about? The Bengals have had a great web site for a long time. For up-to-the-minute details about Bengals players just click here.

There is a sign in the Ohio State Buckeyes Locker room that states "Play like Champions Today!"

There is also a sign in the Michigan Wolverine locker room that says "Don't forget your HELMET!"

+karma for Frank and OxyBob for being good sports

Wildcat'64

I see in  today's News Register Josh Anderson has chosen to join the  Cats. Congrats to Coach Smith for landing a "big one".....after being pursued by all those Division I  schools this  is a "big catch".....what a great compliment for the passing game to have a power runner in the backfield.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Well, Tuxguy may not be going on hiatus, but I have been out of commission for a while.  Too much teaching, grading and too little time!!! I don't have the words to express my feelings on the semester they call "Interterm".  And then 1 day between it and Spring term.  It was a Wednesday, I believe.  Oh well . . .
Today was supposed to be the first day of baseball season here in Va.  and I was going to get to ride the team bus as the FAL (Faculty Athletic Liaison) fancy title for Baseball Mom, but alas, we have an inch of ice haning on the trees, so no baseball.  I suggested neon orange baseballs but the players would have had to slide in all positions.  And I was planning to enjoy a 3 day home stand at UVA watching baseball as their Brownie MOM but it's calling for more snow and ice on Saturday.  RATS!!  Foiled again!
Hope everybody had a great holiday season, but there is a BIG problem.  THERE IS NO FOOTBALL!!!! It's a desert out here!!
I have tried to read all these great articles from that Oregon paper, and I can't get past the page where you put the zip code, DOB and sex on it to read any of them.  What's with that?  Don't they think a person in Va. could possibly be interested in people and happenings in Oregon?  I wrote them a note and complained, so maybe the problem will get solved.
Coco asked about the STAGG Bowl.  We had a blast.  It was the biggest  tailgate.  Pat Cummings did a lot of the pregame show right from Stone Station.  A bunch of us got on his webcast.   Llamaguy had a huge sign for all posters who came by to sign.  It was full!!  WE made 150 barbequed chicken quarters, 12 pounds of macaroni salad, chips, dips, veggies, a zillion brownies  :D :D :D  not to mention that I brought breakfast from Bridgewater's best bakery and the guys made sausages.  I think there was a keg in Skoaltrain's trailer.  It was a fun time.  Fans of both teams came by and socialized and ate.   Lots of people tried to offer money but we refused to accept it.  Our conference is the host so we were providing the hospitality.  We had a bunch of posters from both teams who brought goodies to share as well.  The night before I went to the Whitewater party--fantastic.  Met so many great people there.  We ended up down town at the sports bar where the BC crowd was gathered as well as many MUC fans.  Salem / Roanoke was a great time and it was downright balmy!!  Llama got us tickets on the 50 yardline on the UW-WW side where we had the ONLY SIGN up besides the NCAA signs.  OF course it said "STONE STATION" And we were the only fans in the whole stadium that were not in purple, black and white since both teams' colors are purple, black and white.  We were in red and Vegas god--BC colors.  We cheered and acted like the crazy people we are.  I think we didn't finish cleaning up until almost 10 or 11.  We were the last ones there.  Roocru and Crualum39 graced our function from Texas.  It goes without saying that both teams got about 8 pans of brownies after the game.  I had made 22 pans, I think.  :) ;) :D
Now what we need is for Linfield to come next year!!!!  2007 the Year of the Cat as long as it's also the Year of the Eagles!! ;D ;D ;D
     Oh gosh, it's 2am.  I've got to hit the hay.  Later ;D ;D ;D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Welcome back to the NWC page, Olinemom. You've been busy in the past month few months, with school and baseball. Baseball? Already?

Someday I'd like to experience Stone Station. You people put on quite the spread, it seems. That's nice that some folks try to donate, and even classier that you guys don't take it. What super hosts, and then you did cleanup, too.

I bet everyone appreciated the brownies as much as we did out here. Brownies and beer.  Mmmm....

I have been to Stone Station. It is mythic in its proportions.

There was an intruiging article in the NYT yesterday about the state of d3 athletics. I will dig for the link.

I have not posted since attending the Linfield/whitworth game. I am now completely dry.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

coco

Was that the article about splitting D3 into two divisions?

Yeah- although I would assume these large number problems exist more in basketball than football.

Did you guys hear that Tyrone Willingham only dressed four UW seniors for the Apple Cup?
Yeah, the rest had to dress themselves!

There's gotta be some duck fans here that will appreciate that one, as much as us eastern washingtonians.

So can somebody post the link to the Josh Armstrong article?

Swede,
What have you been up to?  I sent you a couple of emails.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

O.K. I'm Back ;) ;) ;) ::) :-*

Criswyly,

Josh Armstrong was talked about in the http://www.newsregister.com/ sports page, I think it was in the Sat Or Tue paper. He won districts at the 215lbs class. He beat one of the best in the state at that weight in 2 OT's to go to the State Championships. He will be a great addition at running back  for the Cats next Fall.

If that doesn't work let me know.

It was reported that Coach Smith Called him after the meet to congratulate him.
He's a nice young man and has an interesting life story , I wish him the best and will post  how he does at state this weekend as soon as it's done. He is seeded in a good position to finish high I am told. He is also a track & field guy and plans to throw the Discus for the Cats.
He has a A bright future indeed.
I can't wait to see him in Purple, :) :) .....How long until Football season? ;D

I changed the address to the paper, this one works, sorry about the first one.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Gig Harbor Cat

Oxy  Yes I saw that.  And I thought we kicked all of the crazy people out of Gig Harbor.  Sent them to Parkland  Home of the Lutes  But hey who needs  ears anyway
