Glad to see the fur didn't start flying after my comment, and I'm sure I'll get the same clever stuff back from the Linfield fans sooner or later...it's all in good fun.  Even without Clark and Allan I have a feeling Whitworth will be a contender for the conference championship for many years to come.  A few big transfers have already enrolled, and this is the biggest freshman recruiting class they have ever had (the talent level of these freshman though has yet to be determined  :) )  So when does the AF2 season start up...excited to see Allen and Hazenburg (who I saw play for the Fever once last year) play here in Spokane.  Plus the Fever are an AF2 team so Ford and Carter (Wong was on the team at one point as well) will be visiting Spokane for some games assuming they make the new roster.

"I wouldn't sell D-III short. There's some good athletes out there."

This feature is specifically about him.

Thanks for the link Pat...glad to see the big guy getting some more exposure.  Like its been said this is good for the division, conference, school, etc.  He did a good job in the interview...definately more eloquent in his interview than just about every D 1 athlete I've heard.  Especially all those communications majors from the U of Miami  ;D

I should be able to make a few...more interested in the games they have against the Tri-City team and now Boise's expansion team (I actually know some of the guys from these rosters).  All of you linfield supporters should go watch a Tri-City v. Boise game...should look like a linfield scrimmage, given their rosters.

That was a nice feature on Allan, and he certainly IS more articulate than many of the pro players today who are making huge salaries.

Channel 8 gave Brett Elliott a mention tonight, saying that he'd signed a year's contract with the Chargers and would be playing with the Rhein Fire.

Nice piece on Allan. Thanks for the link Pat. The 49ers had their scout at the Whitworth - Menlo game taking copious notes. Didn't notice a Raiders scout. Was that a good or bad thing? :P

Great interview WC11. I love reading those inside / took part type of interviews. Keep up the awesome work.

Have the Tri-City @ Stockton and Boise @ Stockton penciled onto my calender.

The d3 b-ball tourney starts this weekend, and the whitworth men are going to be in cloudy st louis for a possible 2nd round battle with the wustl men. Should be exciting stuff. I have hardly followed d3 b-ball this year, but I know that the bears are a very good team. Well coached with good shooters. I just may have to go, now that I think about it...
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Football news........

Portland State U. will announce today at 3:30 the Hire of former NFL Oilers and Falcons Coach Jerry Glanville as the Vikings next head Coach. Looks like he will bring along former Vikings Coach Mouse Davis to be OC and they will run the  famous run and shoot offense next year. Beats what they have been doing, I believe they ran the ball like 40+ times a game last year.

The 2 have been Coaching in Hawaii with June Jones the last few years.
I thought some of you would be interested.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Brings back memories of Mouse Davis and Neil Lomax plus the college WR who played as an H-back with the Redskins, all at Portland State in 1980. Did Lomax set records with Davis' run-and-shoot!

The WR's name is Clint Didier.

Tux, Thanks for the update on the hiring of new PSU coaches....should be a good move for their program as I think their attendance and support as been terrible.  Seems like the Cats draw bigger crowds on a Saturday than Division IAA PSU the past few years.   A bit of ' Cat Trivia'.....When was the last time PSU played the Cats??? Answer:  1973....score Cats 19, PSU 3......Then dropped from the schedule  because the Vikings were tired of getting whipped by the Cats year after year (one year the Cats ran up 55 points against the Viks in the '60's.

PSU hiring Glanville isn't going to make a huge difference. Everyone in the Big Sky is second fiddle to Montana. Has been the last 14 seasons, and will continue this year. Montana's team is LOADED for this fall.

Wow:
jerry and mouse move to portland. that sucks for the warriors, they were just getting some much needed continuity on the defense. oh well, guess june will have to score 80 per game.

i just ate breakfast with coach davis the other day, he made no mention of the portland state gig. the guy is in amazing shape for his age, and sharp as a tack. he did a little glimer in his eye as he recalled the day barry came to detroit. he said that offensive production moved up at that moment!!!

oh well the warrior loss is the viking gain

go cats!!!

pennstlbu,

Montana better load up some defense, The run and shoot offense of Mouse Davis can put up some major points.

I strongly disagree that Glanville will not make a huge difference. HE ALREADY HAS! A local Sports radio station talked PSU Football yesterday for an hour and a half, that never happens, the phone lines were lighting up like a Christmas tree.
The City and PSU are a Buzz and the players are excited. He's a promoter and   a motivator. 8) Time will tell, I'm just excited that PSU might have a bright future.

As far as the Big Sky, I believe the other programs sat up in their seats yesterday after the announcement of the Glanville/Mouse Davis show moving into Portland.  :o
