Looks like Linfield is going to have to lay the smack down again this year and get things back to normal in the polls.  Made me want to gag when I saw Whitworth ahead of Linfield in a couple of pre-season polls.  They've lost the only two guys that made it even close the last 2-3 years.  I'd like to see a tougher PLU this year as well...I miss the rivalry...I've got to believe 'stache is on the hot seat, even at a DIII school...

To the victor goes the spoils. You can't expect the magazines to know what's what.

Agreed...I never put much stock in anybody's rankings but the one's on this site.  Just fun to get a little fired up in June for no good reason... :D

Its been awhile and I'm glad to see the board is buzzing thanks to the Linfield faithful...but then again I didn't expect anything less.  Some Whitworth recruiting news, the Pirates picked up 3 more transfers.  A kid named mike peck from longview, wa.  He played QB at west hills JC near fresno.  Adam Anderson is a RB from U of Idaho with 3-4 years of eligibility left.  And Andy Largent is a redshirt sophomore (WR) transfer from WSU, he's a local spokane kid (shadle park).  Thats it for now...right now Whitworth is running their 11 man camp..I say 11 man because they ran an 8 man football camp the week before.  Those magazines who ranked Whitworth ahead of Linfield are the same morons who put Linfield ahead of Whitworth last year so i wouldn't put much stock into it... ;)

I like it, I knew that would smoke some rats out of their holes!  You're right...those mags were dead wrong, but let's be honest, nobody could have predicted such a convincing win... ::)  I hope the boys bought some Powerball tickets on the ride home!

I'm crushed that I'm going to miss my 'Cats up in Spokane this year.  I already know I'm going to miss the game due to work and that is very painful for this 'Cat.  Like I said about last season’s game…I’ve never seen a team get so dominated but still manage squeeze out a win like that.

and the Cat's have their claws out, ready to pounce as soon as we poke our heads out.  Too bad you're gonna miss a good game with even better weather 11.  I don't know how you guys survived 4 years of college (5 for some) without more than 10-20 days of sun a year  ;D

QuoteI am happy to see the stagg bowl stay in salem for the next few years at least. One of the greatest things about my trip to salem was that the whole weekend was about the game-
and the short trip the from the middle of the country, bro'.

True bro, although dallas is a much shorter Southwest airlines flight then the relative haul to salem, va.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Making a mid-summer check in.

Impossible to catch up on everything, but did want to pass on condolences to the Wildcat nation about the passing of Paul Durham.  Must of been like the passing of Paul Merkel a couple years back up here for Whitworth folks.

509 - thanks for the info.  Do you know anything specific about these guys?  There are transfers, and then there are guys who are just changing schools (can't play either where they were, or where they are going).

One other thing - I can GUARANTEE that Whitworth College will never lose another football game!  ;)

Clever....but they could change the name back to Whitworth College some day....  :)
Go Cats!

I really trust the d3football.com rankings. Especially last year when we got our butt kicked and they still thought we were good!

Wildcat'64

The best poll will be the final one in December after the Stagg Bowl......if the Cats are #1 in that poll there will be a another huge celebration at Linfield.  Salem treated the Lady Wildcats Softball team wonderfully...now  perhaps they could have the same opportunity for the 2007 football team.
