Linfield Video of the week: 1984 NAIA Championship

***Next Monday: 1986 NAIA Championship Game: Linfield vs Northwestern of Iowa***

This was an incredible game as Linfield came back from being down 22 points in the 3rd quarter to win 33-22.  Makes you proud to be a 'Cat!

WC11,

I've been waiting for this one. That was an awesome game, and I could feel my heart pounding again just watching your video. What a comeback! Those guys were outstanding, and that was one of Ad's finer moments.

Some unfaithful fans actually left when we were 22 points down, the bozos.

NEVER count Linfield out until the game is over.

Thanks for the great video.
Two words:  THE STREAK

8)...you suppose any other high school in the nation has had two championship games on it's field? Probably.
Thanks again to the diligence of Wildcat 11. Northwestern of Iowa looked pretty quick and ready to play. It's a LINFIELD thing they ran into.

Testing.....Testing

Just making sure we all are still here!!!!!

I'd have to say No, If you put College National Championships on High School fields.
Maybe It's just cause I'm a small guy (over all size only) ;D, but those teams we beat in the 80's all seemed BIG! Really BIG!......But The smaller, quicker Wildcats got them in the end. Plus we had the AD-Vantage!!

Thanks 11 for the memories.

Down 22-0 in the 3rd, how many of you would kick a field goal on 4th down in-side the 20? Only Coach Ad knew it would get the boys fired up. ......Priceless!!

If 1 sport starts practice at Linfield  Aug 18th, does that mean all start the 18th
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Tux,
I don't know much about this. but I always heard that the 1st day of practice is tied to your first game per the NCAA.  So our first game is about a week or 10 days later than some in the East and Midwest, they evidently are able to start practice earlier than the 18th.  I'm sure someone out there knows the rules much better than  I,  and they seem to change on a fairly regular basis, but I think that is close to what drives the start date.

My key date is always "how many days from the opening of practice to the first Tailgater"......and I believe that magical number is usually 22.

Perhaps we should have the first Tailgater coincide with the opening day of practice.....that way we could get appropriately "conditioned" for the start of the season
! :'(
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Not all sports have the same rules either, Tux. Football and soccer don't always start on the same day.

First date of football practice is dependent on the first football game and also the first day of classes.

...
You haven't seen some of the high school fields in Texas.   :D :D :D

Texas Bob's database of High School Stadia.

Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood where Howard Payne plays.

Belton Independent School District Stadium where UMHB plays.

The 9,000 seat Matador Stadium with Field Turf in Seguin, TX where Texas Lutheran plays.

Coppell Independent School District's Buddy Echols Stadium which submitted a bid for the Stagg Bowl.

Ralph,

I'm not talking about High School top capacity stadiums, or High School national Championships.
I'm talking about College national Championships Won by One College on the same High School Field. McMinnville High School/ Linfield College.

I know the history of High School Football in Texas. Every die-hard Football fan should make a game in a small Texas town of about 1000+ people with a Stadium that seats 5-10,000.  :o  Now that's spirit and the Love of the Game!!
My 2 cents.

GO WILDCATS!!

Mount Union has won nine national championships on Salem High School's field. :)

How about Championships on a  High School field in the same Town/City  The College is located? (McMinnville High Schools Field is not used by any other teams).

There are city-owned multi-use stadiums down in The OC as well; high schools, community colleges, semi-pro, and various Aztlan de Reconquista futbol teams can be found playing on them.

The NAIA D-2 title game was played in Tacoma in '80, '83, '85, '87, and '95 (PLU featured in the first four, Central Wash. in the '95 game). The '80 game was played at Lincoln High School's Lincoln Bowl. The '95 game (and I think the '87 game) was played in the Tacoma Dome. I'm not sure about the other years.
