You seem to be pretty close to camp.  Any word on the QB situation?  Any idea whose getting an upper hand in that situation?

Any news from any camps for that matter?  How are the teams looking to those of you who've been able to peak.  Don't give away anything you think shouldn't be shared but there's gotta be some insight, eh?

Just a few more days till NWC teams start playing.  Wish that Cats were one of them... :(

Oh, and my bad on Whitworth-Redlands last year.  I made the mistake of only checking one site (the D3football.com score/schedule for Whitworth last year) that did not, for whatever reason, list WW-Redlands game in the results for last year...anyway....
Go Cats!

Pat Coleman

Yeah -- I don't know why that game dropped off the schedule but it's kind of low on the priority scale with other things we have going on.

Sorry. :(

Hey MC,

I have some info I can share.  The 'Cats have switched offensive schemes this year and will be running the the Wishbone.  The staff though that Willamette has the Fly, UPS has the Wing T, PLU has their funky offense, so the 'Cats needed to bring in the 'Bone.  So we should see nothing buy 1" line splits with the multiple option attack.  Look for Jerry Pettibone to be lurking in the crows nest.

BTW...We're just 5 days away from kickoff and not one single Bearcat fan has popped up on the board?  In fact we need a Menlo and L&C backer in here to.  I know there are some lurking out there.  Register and start posting...we won't bite.

No one arrested. Just sharpening claws and playing around with the quote.

A wishbone! That is MAJOR.  I should look at the league rosters on returning defensive ends of note. A lot of work for those fellows in store.

WC11,

I Stopped by practice the other day and thought  the offense looked different, wasn't sure what was up. They looked powerful.
Trevor looked smooth running the wishbone, and the offense has  not skipped a beat picking up the new plays.
Should be a great year!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Unless he gets picked up it looks like Brett's NFL days are done.  BE had a magical run.

Herm Edwards giving some love to Michael Allan a couple of days ago

Q: How has Michael Allan, the rookie tight end, done so far?

EDWARDS: "I think he's doing a fabulous job. You're talking about a guy who came out of a pretty small school. He helped paint the fields before the game. He's a guy that we liked and a lot of people said why would you draft a guy like that? I think it's come to fruition when you watch him play. He's pretty good. He can catch the football. He caught a lot last week [in the Miami game.]

"The thing I like about the guy is he never makes the same mistake twice. He's a pretty smart guy and that's good because he's playing a position where you have to be pretty smart. Now, he's physically going to have to get bigger and stronger. He wasn't asked to block a lot. He was the star receiver [in college.] He's a year away from really developing ...how to block. But catching-wise he finds way to get open. He doesn't have the prettiest body in the world. You look at the guy and he looks like that guy on Leave it to Beaver. You know, that guy Lumpy. But he finds a way to get open and catches the ball.

"That's why we drafted the guy. It was the last day and he was sitting there and we had liked what we saw. We needed a tight end and we knew a lot of people would go after the guy if he was a free agent."

Any chance BE might come home to the Cats, if he doesn't get picked up and help coach the young Cats?  Would be quite a motivating group from that class with Ford and Hazenberg already on staff.

....wishbone???......ok, right.  ;)

MonroviaCat

Ah reviving the wishbone---just like in the 2004 playoffs....  good to hear.  It's about time the Cats take advantage of their overstock of superb running backs.  I'm assume our QB has been working on is speed and moves so he can run the option effectively?

Please tell more!

Do any actually exist anymore?

I watched a few minutes of practice Saturday. You could feel the energy in the air as players made some big plays on both sides of the ball during some scrimmage. Let's get this season going!!
