Wildcat11....you sum up the game very nicely in your blog report from a Wildcat perspective. That's exactly the way I saw it at the game. I like the constructive criticism approach too. You're pretty much to the point... the way you call it is an objective approach... Good work!

Speaking of the local news media, I haven't even seen a season preview on the Wildcats other than the preview they stole off the Linfield website that Kelly Bird wrote....nothing original, no sports beat reporting yet, that I've seen. Lazy.

QuoteRover Andrew Bean(Sr., Newcastle, Wash.) and monsterback Keone Tawata (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) each were credited with 17 tackles.

This can't bode well.with those two positions making 34 tackles.

Olinemom,

It's Tuesday evening....you should be arriving in the Willamette Valley..."Home of the Wildcats".  Hope your long flight was tolerable.  Your hosts have ordered great weather for your first trip to the Catdome.  I'm sure by this time you've had a campus tour and of course a birdseye view of our beloved Catdome.  Be certain to give those young Cats a promise of some of your 'nation famous brownies' and just do the job on Saturday on those Cowboys.

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest...we're glad you made the trip! ;D

We made the long trip to TX last season and the thing I remember most (besides the student section pounding on oil drums in the end zone) is the lack of tackling by the Cats.  We gave up the long TD on the 1st play of the 2nd half due to poor tackling, and that pretty much did us in. Our offense was lightyears behind where it is now, so I think HSU will be surprised by how much more polished we are. Remember, they saw Benzel for 3+ quarters.

Talk about a thorough summary of the WOU game. Great job, WC11. Looking forward to more of those.

Good points, OC99. A much more experienced QB and offense for the 'Cats this time around. Now I finally understand what you and spirit86 have been talking about regarding the drum sounds in TX......
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I also remember the hsu fans telling us that it was snowing in Portland. When I said that was very unlikely, their response was "No. On Fox News this morning they said it was snowing in Montana, so it must be snowing in Oregon, right?"

Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

spiritof86,
do you think there might have been any relation to Miss Teen South Carolina?

Or that Oregon is the state right above California!

Mid Week Trivia....to get us to Saturday:

"Silver Lining for Lewis & Clark"....The Pioneers lead a Division III stats category.  Kickoff Return Defense--0.00 yards.  It's a small step but I can't recall when L&C ever led a football category.  Here's hoping for better luck in the future to the Pioneers.

Well, that doesn't seem very accurate.  Redlands wins at Whitworth and is still behind them in the poll.  And my Lutes ahead of Linfield?  Would love to see it but they haven't earned it yet.  :)

Don Hansen is an idiot......this week at least.

Anybody listening online this weekend?  Dens has offered graciously to give me phone updates but I don't think I'll be able to take advantage in the middle of our family event.  However, if anybody will be sitting by their computer listening I would love it if you might email me an update every so often.  Anybody willing let me know so I can give you the address for my cellphone.

:)

Hansen's back? When they didn't have a preseason All-of-America team or a preseason or Week 1 poll, I thought they might be done.

At least this means Don Hansen might be healthy. Always have to worry. Would never wish ill health on anyone.
