So, for those of you who were there or listening today?  Should we be worried that the D gave up 42 or thrilled that our O scored 52?
Go Cats!

Great game cats!!!!

Defense looked great after the first quarter.

Great hit by Vierra on the punt return in the 4th.  He rocked that guys corn flakes and had him seeing out his ear hole

Awesome two kicks  The second one set the schools record and looked like he had another 5 to 10 in him.

Nice job Chet downing that ball on the one......  That was awesome!

Now if we could get the run going wouldnt that be sweet!  -   The complete package and then some.

To Leave no doubt we need to make sure to hang on to the dang football (expect to see more hats on the ball)

D O.C., thanks for the updates. I was lucky enough to get a call just as the Cats scored TD number 4. Had to ask "What?" as D O.C. was drowned out by the roar of the Catdome. ;D

Cawdad . . . would love to get a live field report on the Tiger - Oaks game.

thanks

Sabertooth, the Tigers were a very methodical team today. The Oaks mounted a couple of fair drives but the Oxy D would bend and then come up with a turnover and stopped a number of 4th down attemts.

Gig Harbor Cat

Great W Cats.  Never a doubt.  This group of young Cats will rock the NWC.  The first two that are in the books, while tough, will pay off big time down the stretch.  I would rather go through a couple games like this than see our boys out there against the likes of the
Haskell Indian Nations team !!!! But thats the SCIAC for you.

The purple frisbees have landed, PHONE IT IN, its in the bank Boys.

See you all at the Catdome south in 2 weeks.

MonroviaCat:
We should be thrilled the O put up 52 and the D didn't give up 53. I would love it if Linfield would shutout the opposition. However, it doesn't matter to me how much the other team scores. The only important thing is for the Wildcats to be at least one point better. This was a team win. :)

Well of course it was a team win and a win is a win.  Let me rephrase the question: How did we give up 42 points?  Was it lack of a pass rush like last week, poor tackling, or did the HSU offense just execute really well.  Not having been able to see or hear the game I'm curious.  Afterall, we're probably going to see better Defenses than we did yesterday so we can't rely on 52 points each week...
Go Cats!

Wildcat'64

Didn't confuscious say:  "Offenses win games......defenses win championships"

Well for the Cats to score 52 points in three quarters is reminiscent of the Brett Elliott  years.  When you can put up that kind of point total in three quarters this will be another very good team.

The defense will mature and grow as the season progresses and this will become a team to be reckoned with.  By the time we get to Whitworth and PLU this should be a well refined unit to go along with the explosive offense.

One game at a time will LEAVE NO DOUBT.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Lever Street

Linfield didn't have an effective pass rush at all against HSU.  The HSU QB (#7) was a good player, and he had all day to pick out receivers.  He dumped many passes of to his 3rd look, the TE over the middle.

OregonCityCat99.....I agree with you, the CAT dbs are fine.  It's our pass rush that is poor.  If Linfield had a good pass rush yesterday, HSU would've scored about 21 points instead of 42.
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

Pirate Pride

As someone who has been apart of the NWC for the last 6 years and followed this message board, let me say hello to the 4 (now 5) Pirate Posters, the declining Lute/Bearcat posters, the one UPS poster, the non existant menlo posters, and the very large contingent of Wildcat posters, you obviously keep this thing rolling.  Oh and LC, thanks for taking a game away from my senior year of college football, may you lose every NWC game by 70 until you cancel your program again (sorry had to get that out of my system).

I need to just say that I really think that last week was a wake up call for the BUCS.  The boys came back with a vengeance against the lowly leapords.  4 TO, safety, Defensive TD, 1 yard of rushing, a shut out, and rolling for 284 yards on the ground, that is impressive.  I truly think that if they can keep them happy, the return of Ahsing, Nelson (two key returners), and Idaho/Western Washington transfers Anderson and Mattair could do some major damage this year.

I am extremely excited to mix it up with you this season and many from here on out, hope both teams can take care of business leading into the week of Nov. 3rd, that should be a fun one.

A 5-0 week for the NWC, great work!  (not countin LC and Menlo ofcourse)

Welcome aboard Pirate Pride,

Good analysis of how the new guys played...should be a physical game next week against Wisconsin Stout.  I like how we are trying to establish the running game until Kemp can get comfortable behind the reigns...

RFB,

I sure hope your Bulldogs can heal from a physical, bruising effort from the Haskell Indians! ;)

After looking at the stats what I took notice of was the 'Cats leading rusher for the game was the QB. Not a good sign. 14 points for hsu came from fumbles. It's still up to the defense to stop the other team, but the Cats need to hold onto the ball better. I hope you enjoyed your family get together yesterday.

I'd recommend for all you Cat fans that are sick of the Dundee bottleneck to simply avoid it by using the Newberg-Carlton highway instead... Use mapquest or the like to find the route as it has a couple of necessary turns to avoid actually going to Carlton but overall the route sure does work well... the way I go I end up in I believe LaFayette.

You can take 99 almost completely through Newberg then take a right on North Main... then follow the directions to Hwy 240... once you are on hwy 240 I believe you turn left on Kuehne and then a left on Abbey.. I just mapquested it and you can see the route if you type in Newberg in the search bar and then zoom out a couple of frames...........I've been using this route for the past 3 years and it has been smooth sailing..

Good win for the Cats... I believe that our defense will get stronger as the years progresses as we have young linebackers and it always takes them a couple of games to get completely up to speed... I'd like to see this series continue...

hatchetman75

Yup...good win for the loggers with our back-up qb playing the entire game. Watch out when Williams gets healthy again!

wildcat11

First impression of the weekend....good week for the NWC.

The score nobody is really talking about is the PLU score.  Is PLU back?  That made me take notice....River Falls is decent this year and they gave SJU quite the game.  The Lutes piled up the offense numbers in impressive fashion.

Hatchet...it wasn't until 5 minutes left in the game before the Loggers could lock up the victory over CMS.  Backup QB or not.......

I think the NWC is going to have major struggles stopping or slowing down the Linfield passing attack....the 'Cats just have too many options for teams to cover them all.  Now we just have to figure out how to stop the other team.
