Finally getting a chance to post. A few thoughts and comments. As has been reported, the Oaks gave up the rock 6 times, hard to win like that. One of the fumbles was picked up and returned for a TD. The Oaks drove the ball well on several occasions but then would give it away. Humboldt had an incredible number of personal fouls. I thought Oxy was a better team than the Jacks. It was mentioned to me, and I could see, that Menlo has quite a few injured players and has a fair number of freshmen getting quite a bit of playing time. Finally, Humboldt has a guy on the team in his 50s. He missed an extra point. After the game he commented that he is not as old as the guy from Sul Ross, but he has played and hasn't heard if the other guy has. Pat?

Thank god bye week is over.....now we can start talking about CAT football again! ;)

Did I miss something that happened at Menlo a few years ago starting around 2004?

The Oaks record from 2000-2003: 26-14

Since 2004: 5-27

A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

NWC was my thought but no...when they were winning they were beating teams in the NWC (not the Cats but others) and I noticed that they beat Hardin Simmons in 2001....maybe change in coaching or something...

Pat Coleman

Same head coach throughout.

They had Nate Jackson at wide receiver (he's a Denver Bronco now) and Zamir Amin at quarterback when they were good.

I'm guessing that the size that school (700 total students) must hurt too.  I mean, at Linfield you have about 1500 students and about 10% of them try to make the team which gives you quite a selection.  Menlo has less guys to pull from so their odds for having good players is reduced.  So, my guess they will have good years and bad years but will be less able to build consistency from year to year just becuase they have less competition for the spots on the team....

Menlo seems to have a problem of getting kids to stick around for any length of time. They had a huge transfer lineman last year, still has a year of eligibility, but left. They had a freshaman RB last year that I thought had some promise, gone. The QB this year has not been the kid that finished last year. Kind of hard to build a program and consistancy when kids are only there for a year or two.

You guys...where was speedybigboy getting those PLU/UPS updates?

Local Seattle radio?

DOC, as you may have later figured out I was listening to the PLU internet broadcast on KLAY.  Don't know where the station is but I assume Tacoma.  Since I live in Alaska I won't  be picking up any "local" seattle stations. ;D  I always start with the d3football.com scoreboard as they have links to the available audio, video, and Live stats for most games.  The KLAY play by play was giving out the other scores.  I also had up the Whitworth Live stats page.  Sounds like I missed a couple of good ones when I left for our high school game.

My scoreboard and Individual Team pages at d3football.com look different than on Friday.  ALso I lost the links to jump from the scoreboard to a team site and from one team to another.  I assume they are going through an upgrade (Pat??), or did I mess up some setting on my computer?

Good to see UPS backing up the chest pounding... ::)

Good game by the lutes yesterday, but we suffered some casualties.   Brett Gordon went down with a shoulder injury.  Not sure how bad it is?  Sounds like the back up Bryne stepped in and finished the game well.

I guess we need to tell UPS to go home and get their shine box.  Crown 'em!
