Speaking of injuries, this may only interest the Whitworth fans, but one of the Whitworth players had gotten in a pretty bad car wreck friday night, and played saturday with stitches in his head.  I don't know if the kid is tough, stupid, or both but I'm glad to hear he's ok.

I vote for tough.   But also Stupid if the car wreck resulted from his stupidity OR if the doctor told him not to play and he did anyway.  Either way--glad he is o.k.

What a weekend!  I was fortunate enough to be able to watch last years game in Wisconsin, can only imagine what it was like in the Pine Bowl on Saturday.  I think someone mentioned this already...I believe that the drive that Kemp lead the BUCS down the field on will give him, the team, and the coaches a whole lot more confidence to maybe open up the passing game a bit to spread some defenses out.  Seems like the d is giving up some big plays and that has been the cause of some of their inconsistencies (definately hurt them against Redlands).  They did however get some turnovers and show dominance for most of the 2nd half as well.  Got to watch the Anderson kid for a couple years when he came to the Whitworth camp while he was in high school, he looked good then, wondering if there is a better back in the league right now?  Glad he saw the light and decided to transfer and play for the crimson and black.

Menlo has a history of not playing well on the road, sounds like they are having some personnel issues, big focus week for the BUCS.

I thought the Rats were in for a long day when I watched the first quarter but obviously they turned it around.  Nice win for them and the NWC.

Guess it's time to unveil the 300 yard running game to go with the 500 yard passing game!

GO CATS

I would think now is the time!!I sure enjoyed the game I got to see (Linfield-Hardin-Simmons--(who still looked shaky this week), but we really need a good running game to keep things in perspective!!  Go Cats!!

TuxGuy....don't forget....the hot dog was pretty tasty!   ;D  Plus what about the huge O-lineman on Willamette. I think he was about 6'8". And the guy on the d-line with the wild hair dew. That was pretty cool.

It was an amazing ending in the Pine Bowl yesterday.  It seems that Whitworth has made a habit out of pulling out a couple of those every year over the last several seasons.

A couple of thoughts:
1.  Toivo - I don't think your math adds up right for the second half total yards for Stout yesterday since they had about 75 on that last drive.  But other than that the Whitworth defense allowed nothing after halftime.
2.  If Stout goes on to finish last in the WIAC again this year, I will have no arguement with anyone who wants to claim the WIAC is the strongest league top to bottom.

Saw John Tully on the local sports show that comes on channel six after the Sunday night football game.  He was in studio talking about the team and Saturday's game.  They had him diagram the long run by Anderson for a touchdown.  Pretty cool.

Heard the wreck was completely the other drivers fault, and the Doc cleared him to play so Tough it is I guess.

Anderson has looked good since the first game of the season...he didn't have the rushing yards against Redlands but had a few very nice kick returns.  Whitworth's inability to score in the first half the last few weeks shouldn't be an issue any more.  If you look at the play calling in the first half, it is much more conservative than in the second.  When the Pirates can run 4 and 5 wide formations with confidence, running and passing out of both, they are able to put points up on the board.  Given Kemp's game last week I think you'll see Whitworth start to open it up early and often from here on out.

If Menlo keeps playing like they have the last two weeks, this game will be another confidence booster for Kemp and the offense.

Good comeback win for Whitworth!

Does anyone know if UPS will have their QB back this week.  Any more word on Gordon for PLU?

Speedy,

That's a good question....This weekend's UPS/PLU tilt could be dubbed the battle of the questionable quarterbacks.

Obviously UPS's starter has to be dinged up rather bad to have missed the past two weeks.  Or it could be that the Logs staff felt it was best to rest him for NWC play in feeling they should walk over the bottom feeders of the SCIAC.  (oops)  Even if Gordon is going to be out I like PLU to win in a convincing manner this weekend.

Linfield at Willamette should be a fun game.  Even though Willamette doesn't have the best talent this season they have no quit.  Coach Speckman's kids play hard for him and they've been in every game this year so our 'Cats better be sharp.  We have to take care of our business this weekend.  Can't wait.

The starting QB's are questionable to play... or the backup's are questionable quaterbacks?  ;D

Loggers Gracious as Always in Defeat

Somebody needs to put a leash on this coach and give him and the boys a quick PR refresher...there are some gems in this one.  Seems like the Poets had nothing to do with the loss...

If this guy didn't run his mouth at every turn, I'd be sad the NWC dropped one to the SCIAC but this just makes me want Linfield to put a Lewis and Clark style beatdown on these clowns.  8)

My favorite line is the one about "It's not anything they did........we knew what was coming and they still beat us".....  Seems like maybe, they did something right which is why they beat you....
