BohemothsDad,

Nice Post! See you in another couple of years when you Post again!! :o

I had a lot to post till I saw your...... "weak Post" I'm sure we wont see you again Mr 3 post wonder, so I wont even grant you the respect of a response.

The thing about most Linfield Fans is, we can dish it, but we can take it when it's deserving.

By the way Bigfootsdad,
nice Clock timer today, Maybe we could have gotten the School for the Blind across the street to keep Time.     ( The School for the Blind "Is" right across the street from the Stadium). How many times did the on field ref. have to reset the Clock? Are we sure the game went 60 minutes? ( Sour grapes) Nope, just Facts!

We Lost....... Time to regroup, and rebound next week. Lot's of games left!

GO WILDCATS
LETS LEAVE NO DOUBT

You won't have to wait that long... Sorry, I don't have 10 hours a day to spend camped out on a message board. He came out saying Willamette sucks, I called him on it. Get over it.

Ya, well, they sucked their way to a W over Linfield, so I hope they keep sucking like that for the rest of the season, and that Linfield continues to 'dominate'.
Go Bearcats!!!

Not to break up this scintilating conversation  :) but I was pouring over the PLU-UPS stats and it says Michael Byrne started at defensive back and QB.  Thinking that was unlikely I checked last weeks starting roster, it said Byrne started at DB.  Further digging reveals that in an effort to emulate perenial league champion Linfield, we have so many guys on the roster that we have duplicate numbers.  #5 Aaron Todd started at DB the first 2 games.  WYD, I assume that's still the case.

Interesting day today.  I didn't expect the Willamette to pull off the upset.

I went to the PLU game today and have to say the back up QB (Bryne) did an awesome job of distributing the ball.  In the first quater he was lighting up the secondary of UPS.  The defense played great too with some really solid play from the backs.  It was good to see some huge hits on that side of the ball.

UPS moved the ball great on the ground but had some problems with air game.

It was a good showing from the Lutes today.  The second team played most of the 2nd half.

WYD, stats show we had another very strong effort against the run (UPS 2.6 yards per carry).  4 of the 5 fumbles we recovered are listed as FORCED.  Were the fumbles from a lot of hard hits and/or strips or did UPS mishandle snaps and handoffs?  Did the UPS qb look like he was back to form or rusty being his first game back?
This week at Whitworth is a BIG challenge.  Hope the boys can keep the ball rollin.  As Ralph Turner pointed out we have 3 tough road games ahead.

Looks like strength against strength.  PLU passing O, against Whitworth passing D.  WHitworth has 11 INT's already + 4 fumble recoveries, overall +12 turnover ratio.  PLU has a +11,  11 fumble recoveries, 5 INT's.

I agree with lack of urgency, organization and just plain sloppy play.  Can you imagine seeing an Ad Rutchman team put on a performance like this?  Never happen.  Plus, after watching several key match up in todays game, it sure looked like the Bearcats had superior talent at several positions.  How may times did Linfield qb get knocked on his butt?  Streak could end?

Speedy,

The forced fumbles today were definately a result of timely hits.   I haven't seen a PLU defense hit like this since 99 :).

Next week should be interesting.  Gordon has had a great year and Bryne is really a great talent.   The PLU passing game should keep the rest of the NWC defenses honest.  There are a ton of weapons for teams to deal with.

OK then...they have pretty gold helmets (used to) AND they are to be congratulated on sticking to a job when they were down 0-19.

One game at a time gents.

Speedy,

Turnovers will be key come saturday.....what type of offenses has PLU faced thus far?  I know UPS runs some option, which can be feast or famine in terms of turnovers (obviously famine was the case yesterday).  What about UW River Falls?  I don't expect Whitworth to fumble the ball much if at all on Saturday.  Generally fumbalaya doesn't come into play.

Going back to the WW game, Linfield is 7-6 overall.........7-6???!!!

We have seen signs of this. Blowing that 19 point lead to a team that traveled all the way from Texas caused me some concern, even though we won. Losing another 19 point lead to an unranked team is going to make me the youngest member of my family to ever experience a stroke. The turnover issue is pretty obvious and I'm not going to spend a lot of time on it. I will say that PLU's website says they were 2nd in all of DIII last year in causing turnovers, and we know Whitworth was among the nation's best in turnovers and has a tough defense this year. According to speedybigboy' post, both teams look to be among the best again – PLU has already caused 16 turnovers and  Whitworth 15. My point is we haven't yet even played the teams that are most likely to try and cause turnovers so we absolutely better get this fixed or we are going to be in a world of hurt when it comes to keeping possession of the football. The rushing woes are another obvious issue. 56 yards against unranked Willamette. Not good.

The one positive: In my opinion, Trevor Sharer is a heck of a QB. If not for Matthews, Elliot, and starting 1-2, there would be a lot more talk about this young man. Keith McMillan (from D3football for those who don't yet know) said he would place him on his early All-American watch after observing his 511 yard performance against Hardin-Simmons. Althought not as accurate this game, he threw for another 350 against Willamette. We have a very good quarterback. The line needs to protect this kid, and the team needs to get a running game and improve its defense (obviously).

There is still talent on this team. Playoffs start in October this year, fellas.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
