Something to think about..........

" What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us!"
-William Morrow

"If you can't accept losing, you can't win."
-Vince Lombardi

"Sports do not build character.......they reveal It!"
-John Wooden

GO WILDCATS
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

D O.C.

Shouldn't that read
Quote"If you CAN accept losing, you can't win."

                                     ???

So if we're in the quote dissecting business like we were last week, I guess I should be fair.  This one fresh from the Linfield game preview:

"It was the first time since I've been involved with the Linfield
football program that we have lost to a team with less talent."
-Joe Smith

Now I don't disagree with the quote whatsoever but how does that get onto Linfield's own website?  If this got into some newspaper article that's one thing because obviously things get said in the heat of the moment but this wasn't the case here.  Imagine if the game preview in 2004 said,  "yea we should roll these guys, we're far superior talent wise."  As true as it was that year, you don't say it.  So as true as it may be this year, and I bet you could get Willamette to admit it if they were being honest, it's just an arrogant, disrespectful statement to make publicly.  And it makes everybody want to beat you even more than they do normally and especially now that they all smell blood in the water.

Not good at all. Not to knock Coach Smith but you would rarely see that type of comment from a veteran coach.

All that quote says to me is that someone in the Linfield organization is finally admitting that Whitworth was the more talented team last year...finally, some closure  ;D

Maybe he's thinking of applying for the UPS job, should it come open, and he's upgrading his resume.   ;D

Can someone tell me a little more about Whitworth's webcasting/video-feed capabilities? I might need to clear a little room on Saturday's schedule for what looks to be a great game.

D-train, I emailed the Whitworth SID and here's what he had to say:

At the end of the week he will post a page on their website that looks like this:
http://www.whitworth.edu/Athletics/Teams/Football/StreamingVideo/Index.htm

Last week they expanded the capacity to 75 users after the previous week's game capped out at the maximum of 60 viewers.

He said you will need to have some kind of high speed connection to watch the game (cable, DSL).

I tried to watch one of those feeds at DSL 128k and it didn't work, spent all the time, buffering, with still shots changing periodically.  I've called my internet provider and upgraded my service so I can try again this week.

I don't think that the fact that he thinks it is bad...it's the fact that it made it into print.

It just says that you of equal talent, not more talented.  Let's not get crazy here :)

To Coach Smith's credit the rest of the quote went like this............

To Willamette's credit they played great!.............. Bla Bla Bla ..............

...........Willamette did a nice job of stopping the run and forcing us to pass.................... And some more bla Bla's.
Always more to the story.

Thanks SBB and others. I'll plan on giving this a try.

That Lombardi quote was a stupid quote and he's an idiot for saying it.  He was a pretty good coach that won some big games though.

Does the second sentence make the first one OK?

You'd think that would be something you could manage to get in on the team's official site, if it happened.
