Rats march down the field and score a TD but miss the extra point.  APU 28 Rats 27 still in the third----
Go Cats!

APU 31 Rats 27 in the 4th quarter;  Rats start 4th on the APU 5 but 4th down--FG attempt is blocked.  APU takes over---Rats need to stop APU and get a drive going or else things are going to slip away...

And they do--Rats force a fumble and recover it.  Offense makes quick work of a very short field and takes the lead 34 to 31.

With just over 4:30 left in the game, APU scores a TD following a 78 drive started after they took the ball away from the Rats on a fumble.
Go Cats!

0-0?  I like Whitworth's chances

Whitworth 28 PLU 21

Linfield 24 PLU 0

I like Linfield's chances... ;)

MonroviaCat

Rats unable to keep their drive alive and turnover on downs 90 seconds left APU has the ball---Rats need a miracle now.
Go Cats!

Yeah--me too! :)  But first, Menlo---wouldn't want to fall prey to one of Menlo's unexpected good games!
Go Cats!

Rats force a fumble with 32 seconds left---any magic left is the question.
Go Cats!

downtown48 +K....I would never count out Whitworth. They have become a national power. I think they would beat anyone in the SCIAC or Iowa Conference at this point in the season. And about 8 other conferences. Now we just have to prove that we can beat them at the Pine Bowl..... 8)

Even though the Pirates lost, they are still a great team.

MonroviaCat

Rats attempt a drive at the end but come up short---Final score APU 38 Whitworth 34.

Go Cats!

MonroviaCat

Not sure if you are joking or not Blue but you do know that Whitworth lost to Redlands this year which would mean they can't beat "any team in the SCIAC".....
Go Cats!

Hmmm....stats on the Rat game are interesting.  Rats had a few more yards, less penalties, fewer turnovers and still lose the game.  Be curious to hear from those who were there (Calcat and others?).

I can't go there yet...they had a good quarterback, an NFL tight end, and a good defense.  They've lost 2/3 of that and lost to Redlands this year...we'll see in two weeks!

Well...I was trying to give them some credit. I guess we lost to Willamette so we shouldn't jump the gun like you guys say.

MonroviaCat....I meant in the playoffs...do you think anybody in the SCIAC would beat Whitworth in the playoffs?

It does seem that Whitworth has found a hell of a running game.  The Anderson kid seems very legit.  I'm already bumming that I can't make it to the pine bowl.

I mentioned this before about the Linfield defense but as our Soph trio of LBs gained more experience the defense would greatly improved.  Couple that with the d-line gaining confidence and the 'Cats have played three fine defensive games in a row.  Let's get after the Oaks next week.
