This is great...Wildcat posters giving someone a hard time about boasting their teams accomplishments.  Congrats, you have a couple of NAIA DII championships (what were there, about 40-50 teams you had to beat out for that honor back in the day?).  D III football is much more competitive with over 250 teams.  The pre-Elliot days mean nothing as far as current D III success.  I just hope you all had your fun while it lasted, and I'll have to admit I was dissapointed that all we got from you all is some harsh words for your coach.  No criticism for Scharer or Josh "I swear I can catch" Vierra (who by the way was jawing at a Whitworth coach at one point in the game...speaking of classy)?  I remember you dragging your own players under the bus from that Willamette game like it was yesterday.  Pineconefan is a bigger man than I, and can no longer hold back (as I've been doing all season).  You lost...again...deal with it.  No wonder we can't get any Willamette posters back on this board.  Who would want to try and contribute to this board only to have a group of Linfield alums (who are obviously upset that they had to live in McMinville for 4-5 years) gang up on them?
If you had actually boasted your teams accomplishments that would have been something.  But instead you jumped on and made a bunch of negative comments directed towards Linfield and their fans so YES we are going to gang up on you.  Notice how pineconefan came on and talked up the good play of his team---nobody ganging up on that.  However, you chose to be a friend of Jane and attack Linfield Fans and now the players and I still haven't seen you say anything good about the play of your DBs, or your coach sticking to a methodical and effective game plan.....  You ought to be celebrating how great your team played today but instead you bring 2004-2005.  I'm assuming you must of played during those years and are still jealous of what a really great team Linfield had those years.  Must suck to not be able to enjoy a postive day for "your team".

509, while I agree with some of your comments (you should be bragging up your team now and the Cats fans certainly gang up on the rest of us) I must take exception to a couple of statements.  You are vastly misinformed as to the quality of play in the old NAIA.  It included many of the teams and/or conferences that make up some of the best of the current d3.  St. Johns for instance, at least till the mid-80's.  The WIAC, not sure it was called that but those teams somehow competed in either/or d3/NAIA in a particular year.  Also, more teams, doesn't necessarily mean more competitive.  Our division is currently dominated by one team, that being Mt. Union.  And while having the same champion over and over doesn't mean that the other teams are weak, I doubt many people would claim NCAA D1 basketball was more competitive during Wooden's reign at UCLA then it is today when it is rare for a team to repeat.

I do wish Whitworth well in making the playoffs and winning.  Personally I have two d3 things left to root for this season.
1. PLU beating Willamette (a tough task this year on the road)
and

2.  Rooting for Whitworth in the playoffs (I hope you win it all cause it reflects favorably on the NWC.)

Monrovia, +k for your "friend of Jane"  comment :)  Not because I agree or anything but because you had me stumped there for awhile.   ;D

For what its worth

1. Redlands beats Cal. Lu
2. Oxy beats Whittier
3. Redlands and OXY will play each other in the first round.
4. The NWC is left out

Congrats again to the Pirates and I hope I'm wrong (I usually am) Whitwoth is the king of the NWC.

In reply to not being able to recruit.

Tell that to the freshman waiting in the wing. They have been working hard all year along with the other players. but for some reason they havnt seen much of the field in game time situations.

I am new to this CAT program and it is a class act. Lets kick but in years to come. I plan on being around cheering them on.

If 1 and 2, then Cal Lu get the AQ for the SCIAC.  WHat happens to them?

I did not play during those years but that was a nice attempt...you want compliments?  Here...

Phil Entel:  The Senior Pirate safety played the game of his life.  Intercepting that one guy 3 times...tkaing 1 to the house for 6 points.

Andy Largent:  Another good week kicking, converted the extra point attempt and made a 19 yard field goal.

Warm fuzzy for Linfield:  Their kicker has a BOOT...he was the best player on the team.

Kory Kemp:  did what he needed to get the Pirates the victory.  He made some nice throws that we haven't seen him make all year, but is still struggling a little with the deep ball (he overthrew a wide open Tully).  Other than my one little critique, he did an excellent job of managing the game given the play-calling and situations he was in.

John Tully:  While I hate watching him attempt to run the clack out with bad field position and 13 minutes left in the game...it worked.  Partially thanks to Linfield's inept offense but in large part to Whitworth's D.  He realized that Linfield was stacking the box and got them to back off with some play-action and quick pass plays.  The running lanes proceeded to open up and Ahsing got almost half of his 72 yards in a little over 1 series.  I've said it before and I'll say it again...Whitworth needs to continue to mix up the run and pass (especially the play-action pass) if they want their running game to continue to be as effective as it has been.

Man, I'm busy with just Mcat posting...think whats gonna happen when the rest of the clan finishes the drive from Spokane (or stops banging their heads through walls in the computer rooms of their own homes).

I can't count too high but last time I checked Linfield still had a recent d3 championship and I can't recall Whitworth's.

And they've given SJU much better games than that 18-point pee-down-the-leg at the Pine Bowl.

Not real sure about passing up the field goal considering the fact that 1. we can't run the football and 2. Whitworth couldn't move the football all day.  Why wouldn't you take the lead and play D like you had been all day.

George, I don't know why asking to be like St. John's and Mount every year is too much to ask.  They should be like them every year!  They just apparently haven't figured out that you can't turn the ball over 5 times every game!

509, I echo Monrovia's thoughts.  Just when it looked like you weren't quite the prick that I thought you were, you come in here with that gem.  Just a reminder Linfield won DOZENS of conference chapionships before BE came to town and that's not going to change.  Linfield has won more conference championships this decade without BE than Whitworth has in the last 30 years.   Don't get too cocky, you beat a team by 4 points that you had a +5 on.  If you were the badasses you think you are you would have won by three touchdowns... Get a win next week, take care of the SCIAC sacrificial lamb, and then see if you can beat somebody from another conference in the playoffs.  Good win today...

Some SCIAC sacrificial lamb handed the Rats a nice little beatdown. The SCIAC still can't get any respect. The Rats better hope they don't see Redlands again or it will be loss #2.

Proud Papa Joe

So with Cal Lu winning do they become the SC champ no matter what they do next week?

From last weeks conversation sounds like they do.
