Glad to see you at the game 11. Sorry the outcome wasn't what we wanted.

As for running up the score. Start a 2nd half with a 35 point lead is not a gauranteed win. Even when you do bring the subs in they are not going to lay down. They are out there to win and score points. Let them play and play hard. And let the outcome be what it is.

Gig Harbor Cat,

  Apparently our D is SALTIER!!!

-phone it in
Uhh, correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Cat D gave up 3 points whiles the Rat D gave up 6. Who's is saltier? We could go into all the stats, but the score is the only one that really counts.

I'll make the point for Whitworth---Their D scored the only TD of the game----both D's brought the salt yesterday and neither Offense moved the ball consistently.
Go Cats!

Coach Maynard has been a head coach for 20+ years and he know's what he is doing.

When it comes to things like running up the score, leaving his starters in during a blowout, and repeatedly throwing long when up by 35 at halftime, Mike Maynard certainly knows what he's doing.

I believe that deep down the playoff commitee will take the final score into consideration.

I believe that deep down only Redlands fans take the final score into consideration. That's Redlands to a T.

OxyBob

Couldn't disagree with you more Bob. I don't believe in running up the score at all.

. . . I'm actually more concerned abut Menlo because they have been having trouble keeping guys on the team and have a very small student population to pull from!
MCat, talking with parents and people in the know, I think Menlo may be keeping more players. They have quit recruiting JC transfers and going after the high school kids in order to build. At senior day yesterday there were only 7 seniors and the win over UPS was with a heavy Freshman and Sophomore group of players.

And point taken M-Cat.

Monrovia,

I totally agree....if someone predicted a shootout, they would be called crazy.  Two great D's going at it.  The nice thing for Whit and I'm sure Linfield, we only graduate 3 starters on offense.  The defense will have new faces, but maybe it's the offenses turn to carry the load next year.

Congrats, Whitworth. I think it says a lot about your team's character when you can lose a couple of stars like Allan and Clark and still get it done again this year. I thought your squad looked like the better team yesterday and deserved to win.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

In terms of the game yesterday....we had plenty of chances and didn't get it done.  You can second guess the the 4th and short but do remember we had FIVE chances in the 4th quarter to get it done.  We didn't and we lost.

After looking a little closer at it...you're right, you could nitpick any one sequence all day I guess, but at the end of the day, that wasn't the only shot at taking the lead that we had.  Not getting it done multiple times makes me think the passing up of the field go wasn't as big of a deal as I thought.  Missed chances seems to be the theme of the last two Whitworth matchups...

Proud Papa Joe

You are right. We let to many chances get away. Before Linfield can become a dominant force in the NWC we need to become more balanced. I think our defense is the best. But we need to be able to run time off the clock during the game and wear their defense down. We did do it sometimes this year but not agianst the good teams.

GO CATS

I'll buy you 7 buckets if Redlands will schedule up north again. Being a maybe playoff contender again may provide the spark.

Out of every mistake I will take the holding call on the TD as the largest.

I'll say the first INT of the game was equally bad.

how about the fumble we recovered that we didn't get.

That wasn't really a mistake by the Cats---and it was questionable at best.  But let's not get too far into this--we got beat.
Go Cats!

OK boys--Forget the calls that were made yesterday or any day as a matter of fact.

Granted. My point being that one person held (assuming) and 6 points was given back. That changed the game, the season, and my attitude.
Did not see the interception, hence my asking in the thread 3 times about the circumstances, but, assuming, more than one person had a chance to tackle the interceptor who scored.
