AQ aside...maybe it's time for NWC teams to start scheduling each other twice to fill in our schedule with D3 competition only...BTW I am concerned that Menlo is not going to last in the conference for long...Who wants to play for a team that has to travel all over the countryside by bus just so they can lose.  That program is in trouble unless they start winning.

Does the NCAA publish an annual report listing there income and costs....if so I'd sure like to see it.

Linfield and SJU in 2009....win or lose....that would make my season.
Yes, it does, but I don't have the URL.

The budget for all of D3 post-season sports is somewhere around 3.5%, and most of that revenue comes from the March Madness money.

Part of the questions around D3 are where additional money will come from when the March Madness money is gone.

Corrections appreciated.

Thanks, George. Did he say anything about UW-Eau Claire's 2nd D3 loss to a 3-7 UW-River Falls and how that might play a "major factor"?

Foss,

Not one word about it.

George

Thanks again, George. I sent an email to the address you recommended earlier today asking how a team with two D3 losses (one to a 3-7 squad) could possibly be selected over the NWC champ with one D3 loss (to a team that won its conference and is going to the playoffs). I haven't received a response. I suppose I don't really expect one either.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Oh come on Wildcat11
I am dying for some post season consolation....unseal those lips....you have no right to keep those lip sealed...unfair, unfair.........This is cruel and unusual punishment...especially at this time of the seaon. ;D ;D ;D

I just emailed this to the "Burrow, Wayne" <wburrow@ncaa.org>.      Again, I encourage all NWC fans to write him and protest Whitworth's exclusion.     It can't hurt for the future.    We must let the NCAA Selection Committee know about us for future years.

I, too, am worried about the future of the NWC, specifically Menlo and Lewis and Clark.
If they don't become competitive soon, they might easily drop out.   I would sure like to see Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon in the NWC.

Anyway, please take the time to write the NCAA and protest.

George

Mr. Burrow,

UW-Eau Claire lost to a 3-7 team, UW-River Falls.  Whitworth lost to Redlands, a playoff team and a tough NAIA team, Azuza Pacific.    How in the heck does UW-Eau Claire supposedly have a tougher schedule?   Omitting Whitworth was a joke.

And, look at the past performances of NWC teams in the playoffs.     Whitworth would definitely hold their own IF the NCAA had selected our conference champion.

How many people are on the Selection Committee?   How many from the West Coast?

I'm with you George....I wrote just as a matter of principle...The committe should recognize that they made a very poor decision....and our voices do count.

Cmon boys, you REALLY didn't figure that they would give us an honest answer as to why the Rats are staying home.
We all know it comes down to ECB-- Then the one rep that the West coast gets has to travel to SJU, when in fact SJU should come west.  That my friends is home cookin at its best.  They have the rep and facility so its just like the old days when you can bid the game, only this bid is not public--  They also know that the NWC is a VERY tough conference.  Just ask the powerhouse Rowan team that came out here only to get distroyed.
The NWC has earned respect around the country--This just plain sucks.  It blows chowder !!!! No way of getting around it.  Our conference champ should be packing for a trip to the dance.  Personally I am glad that this is the last year we have to deal with this.

Redlands in a romp--SJU goes down

Phone it in--Its in the bank boys

GHC

Hmm.  Where have I heard that before?????  2002 and 2003 perhaps? If the SJU offense plays like it did against Bethel, you will probably be right.  The far west has been tough until the team from there meets SJU.  Maybe this year will be like PLU in '99.  I am hoping SJU has pulled its head out and intends to get back on track against Redlands.  I'm thanking God that our 4-year starter is gone after this year.  After 4 years, he still plays like he did during his 1st year.  He holds a lot of records because he's played in so many games and he's a great kid and a nice kid but I don't see us going all that far with him under center.  I think we'll at least beat Redlands.

bluenote

George....I just sent an email also. Maybe one of us will get an answer as to what they were thinking? Hopefully someone will post it.

Still no answer from Pat or Keith......I thought they had connections?   ???

chewey....according to your pronouncements about your inferior team you guys should be traveling to Redlands not the other way around. But whatever......I don't think Redlands has the firepower to get past SJU. If they do I would be very surprised.

OK, coming out of lurk mode to say that I'm stunned.  After Linfield was out of it (and Lawrence was out long before that), I just checked the playoff brackets and had to read them 3 times.  No NWC representative?  It's especially funny because next year Whitworth could have the exact same results and get in because of the AQ.  What the hell is the reasoning for the 2-year 'probationary' period anyway? Menlo was in the conference this year, but it somehow doesn't 'count'!?  You have to think that the whole thing had something to do with money and avoiding a first round rematch with Redlands.  Of course, if the NCAA would pony up for one more flight, it wouldn't matter.  Oh well.  Here's to the NWC rep crushing everyone next year.  Well, unless my LU Vikings get in, anyway.

Chewey,
This isn't about any specific year or even about SJU its about putting the best 32 in the dance.  Oh and you failed to mention 04 ???

Thanks again for the Menlo hat. It will go good in the room.
I'll look at the pics next weekend.

Did any of you guys at the tailgate notice the people that had the canopy set up some 25 feet to the west of the tent? Coco, I think you know.

coco

GHC,
It's about time we heard from you on this travesty.
And you probably bought your own wing at the Safari when 11 was playing for 4 years.

Cawcdad,
Maybe if you hang onto your receipts for a few years, you'll earn a Christmas card. They are under new ownership now.

The snub of Whitworth still stings. It just was not the right thing to do. I'm going to write, also.
