I just emailed one last shot at the NCAA terrible slight of Whitworth.    Here it is:

Mr. Burrow,

It has come to my attention that Ithaca, a third place team in their conference was invited to the playoffs.  They had two in-region losses.   Whitworth had one in-region loss.  3 teams from the E8 conference, which only has 7 teams???   0 teams from the NWC conference, which also has 7 teams.   How in the heck is that justified?

How many national champions has the E8 conference produced in the last 8 years?   None.  The NWC has produced two.

Don't tell us Ithaca played in a tougher conference.   I do NOT believe that for one second.  Twice in the past 8 years the best team from our NWC  trounced the best team from the East region:
  1999:    PLU 42         Rowan 13
  2004:    Linfield 52    Rowan  0

The ugly truth is the NCAA Selection Committee's very unfair East Coast bias and prejudice against West Coast teams.  That is why Whitworth was unfairly snubbed.

You never answered my question regarding the Selection committee.
How many members and from which regions or conferences?

I only hope you guys are unbiased and much more neutral in future years' selections.   The NWC plays tough football.  The NAIA NEVER excluded our champion; in fact, they usually picked our two best teams, and sometimes three teams.   The NWC won more than their share of NAIA championships.

You've all heard the saying 'beating a dead horse', right? One of my favorite teachers growing up used to say it this way 'when your horse dies, dismount'.

George Thompson, you are my hero. Thank you for the display of the facts to the windmill.

I do not even want to know what West Coast personnel were on the committee.

I sent this to George in a message but what the heck...you want to know who's in charge of the snubbery???

P.S. I fully expect George to be the only one to contact...even us Whitworth fans are tired of seeking answers

DT48,

Why take a shot at Coach Maynard? Do you know the man? Do you see any of Redlands fans taking a shot at Coach Smith, Locey, or AD? None of us know them outside of what we hear from the Linfield faithful. From what I know two are legends and one is getting his feet wet with nothing but good things to come.

Coach Maynard is a class act all the way. I should know as I played for him. Trust me if I played for a coach that was an as*hole jerkoff I would not hold back here in telling you. I know you don't like Redlands and most likely us fans, but your post was a cheapshot and uncalled for.

The Catdome will be rock en tonight as former Linfield standout Alan Boschma
Head Coach of the Y-C Tigers brings his Football team to Maxwell field for a 2nd round 4A Football play-off game against Estacada at 7:30.

I wish I was getting ready for tomorrows tailgate, but this game will have to do for now.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

That is some good stuff, OxyBob.  ;D

A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Sample edited letter:

To the A**holes on the D-III Selection Committee Dear Sirs:

Are you people out of your f**king minds?! I write to take great exception to your omission of Whitworth from the playoffs. Every single one of you must have s**t for brains. I believe you did not carefully consider all of the facts before making your selections. I hope each one of you dies a slow, painful death from a rare, horrible, disfiguring disease. All of us in the NWC are very disappointed. If I could get away with it, I'd track you all down and bludgeon you to death with a crowbar. We hope that you will do better next time.

Go to Hell, Sincerely,

Very pissed off Whitworth fan (509)Rat

Your letter made me laugh. I gave you some karma for that one. Thanks oxy.

What are you talking about dude...you must be joking!  That was so far from a "shot at the man" it's funny.  What I said was the truth.  Why would he have anything positive to say from a ranking standpoint when he went up there this year and beat them, soundly...it was my opionion on what his thoughts on the relative strength of Whitworth was...save the cheapshot talk and quit being so sensitive.::)  I didn't say he liked little boys, I said he probably didn't think Whitworth was very good.  Besides, why would he want to play a team from a conference that's owned him for so long?

Trust me, if I wanted to "take a shot at the man" I'd get more specific on the repeated Linfield ducking that he's gotten a Phd in...

I'm being sensitive? You're the one constantly bitching and whining about scheduling. You know what? How about Linfield beating Whitworth? Maybe if they had they would have made the playoffs the last two years.

My point is based on your nonsense, also called speculation about Coach Maynard's motives. You called out his credibility, leave scheduling out of it. Actually you don't know sh*t, outside of spilling some stuff on this board that should not be mentioned here. Enjoy some more bitter pills with your popcorn this weekend.
