No I didn't play on the 04 team, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Select last night.

Exactly! No ring for you either. Join the club.

BFD,

Hey oldpa, why the name change? I haven't read the WIAC board in some time so I didn't get the memo.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Since 1999....Linfield is 9-4 in the playoffs with 1 National Title.  Not bad for a team from a conference that got SNUBBED!   8)

Pat, was the following comment meant to just piss people off and rub in the snub?

"It's unfortunate that the team that Whitworth lost to at home got stomped yesterday. Makes it hard to really mount an effective campaign for them to have gotten in."

You, as a highly educated D3 proponent, should know more than others that if you picked out one game a season you could make almost any team (besides MUC) look bad.  MHB, Bethel, Redlands, Ithaca - should I go on? - all had a bad loss this season.

It was food for thought. Several people partook of it. That's all.

I see.  So the short answer was "yes".

Long story for another time.

I suppose it's how you choose to look at it. I see it like this:

Whitworth and UW-Eau Claire were viewed as very comparable teams. I won't get into one being ranked ahead of the other in the regional rankings and then the other suddenly being selected to go to the playoffs. For simplicity sake, let's just say they were pretty even.

Their only common opponent was UW-Stout, who they each played at home. Whitworth beat them 23-21, UW-Eau Claire beat them 17-14.

UW-Eau Claire's playoff opponent was St. Norbert, who they defeated 24-20. This must mean that had Whitworth been selected and played St. Norbert (and not sent to that juggernaut in Collegeville, MN that Redlands was), they would  have defeated St. Norbert by about the same score (Redlands would have won, too) and would have actually made it to the sweet 16, just like last season.  :)

Of course, Whitworth lost that game at the beginning of the season and some may (and probably will) argue that they were a much better team by the end of the season (though Azusa Pacific may beg to differ).

Oh, oh, you are resorting to Redlands "why we lost" logic, which goes something like this:

1. When Redlands wins it's because they are an awesome powerhouse who played the most demanding non-conference schedule possible.
2. When Redlands doesn't win and you win it's because:
     a. You played a bunch of patsies;
     b. They're rebuilding; and/or
     c. They have the best recruiting class coming in.
3. Turnovers killed us.
4. We played you too early and if we played you now we'd beat you.

Stop it.

Thought I'd throw in my two cents.
The wins and losses this weekend, or any weekend, prove one thing; On any given Sunday (or Saturday) one team can beat another. No rhyme or reason to it. USC losing to Stanford is a great example. Score more points than the other team and you win.

GHC,

Are you saying you'd like to be  excluded  from the guest list next time we "beat the living crap" out of Linfield?

I love the Johnnie fans!  :)

Two 7-point wins over Linfield is "beat the living crap" out of Linfield while a 28-point monkey stomp is a tight victory over the Dawgs!  :D
