QuoteI know that Mt. Union will have their QB and RB back

Seems to me that Qb IS a running back.

More like a re-loading year. They will both be very formidable next year.

How does UMHB look for next year?

I think UMHB will pick-up right where they left off. One of their main backs - Quincy Daniels was just a sophomore. He has tremendous speed. The CRU utilized two offensive and two defensive lines during the course of every game, so they have tremendous experience and depth there. I think most of the line-backing crew returns as well - though they do lose Jerrell Freeman, who was an All-American.  Because of their margin of victory in all but a couple of playoff games, they had a lot of players get game time. They will have to replace Josh Welch at QB, but the back-up this year played a lot and did well. He might even have a better arm.

UMHB plays a JV schedule which helps not only develop players, it also helps with retention.

This season the ASC was almost too easy for the CRU. Hardin-Simmons was down a bit and UMHB had little trouble with them. I think HSU will be improved next year, so I expect a game. The CRU will be the favorite to win the ASC and then, hopefully, make a deep run into the playoffs. I know the returning players will be hungry to try and get back to the Stagg. While August is a long time away, I know that I am looking forward to next season already.

Rumor on Dawgman.com, repeated on the Seattletimes.com message board, says that Jay Locey may be a candidate for D-coordinator at UW.  Just a rumor...comments?

And yes, it's been about 4 years since I had anything substantial to say on here, but I do still lurk to make sure Harborcat is behaving.   ;)

Hey SkoMan...good to hear from you! Haven't heard that about Locey but you never know. I think he's from Corvallis so I assume it would have to be a big time offer get him to move again?

Pat & crew must be tired. The Rats will be heading South next September for their second straight loss to the Dawgs. Book it!

I don't doubt it...they've lost their whole defense.

Could any of you great folks burn a DVD or make a tape of the Stagg Bowl for me? I was on the road, headed for Mac and graduation while the game was being played. I would like to watch it. Thanks in advance.

According to the 2008 Averett schedule  http://www.averett.edu/athletics/footsched.html  they will not be playing Mt. Union again next year.  Does this mean WC11 will be announcing MUC as his mystery opponent? ???

The death star is actually going to be playing Saint John Fisher next year instead.  I feel like I'm going to really disappoint everyone when word gets out.

A good upgrade for them.

Week 1 has a lot less significance after 15 more weeks of games.
