Hell of a bus trip was correct. It was brutal. Like Whitworth and Whitman. One year Del Smith flew us over there, which was much appreciated.

I wish our schools were closer together like other areas of the country. Wouldn't it be great if PLU and UPS were our longest trips?

coco,

for the rest of us that read and sometimes post.  How far are you talking.  Like for Central the last four years we went to the Twin Cities for Bethel and St Thomas Augustana and Hope.  The Hope game was a haul Auggie was like 3.5-4 hours and the Cities are like a 4-5 hour trip.

Dutch,

Per Google Maps:

Linfield to Whitworth
Linfield to UPS/PLU
Linfield to Lewis and Clark
Linfield to Willamette
Linfield to Menlo
Linfield to COI
Linfield to Southern Oregon

There are some long trips there indeed.  You have more long trips than Central but you have more short trips as well.  I hope that they schedule them so you aren't having to travel huge distances in the same year.

This coming year is good for travel as far as the fans are concerned. SOU, Menlo and Whitworth all at home (normally our longest trips)....that's a good thing! PLU and UPS are no problem.....HSU is away but you'd pretty much need to fly there anyway if you were going to the game.

I noticed that Portland State is playing Western Oregon this year, early in Portland. That might be a fun early season game to catch.

Tooth,

College of Idaho/Albertsons has always been a member of the NAIA and like Coco said they were one time a member of the NWC.  I don't recall when they left or when they dropped football but it was a long time ago.

I know recently they have had money issues but supposedly the Albertsons board of directors (the grocery chain not the college) was going to inject a LARGE sum of cash into the college over a five year period.  One of the conditions of the donation is that athletics moves to the DIII model and join the NCAA.

COI was "school number 9" in a list of non DIII schools that are exploring DIII membership.  I think this was floating around the NCAA site last year.

Myself, I think that COI would be a perfect NWC member.  They're private, their academics falls in line with the other members (way better than Menlo), and while it would be a hell of a bus trip I think the negative of a bus ride doesn't overcome the benefit of a 10th NWC member.

In terms of football, they talked about it but they have other fish to fry in terms of their cash issues.  If they joined the NWC it would be as a non-football member.

I am about 98% sure of making it to the states this fall...about 50% on making it to the Catdome....okay...I just recalculated...about 65% chance of making it to Mac....well wait a minute...maybe that's 70% ::)
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

BTW...Happy Birthday today to Gig Harbor Cat.  He told me that he's going to celebrate by buying a new generator for the single wide.

Happy Birthday, GHC!

Does this mean you won't be needing to pedal your bike to make the new one run? You are moving up!

D O.C.

Yes, Happy Birthday.

I'm getting a little nervous because I have not heard from Matson Lines yet.

Remember the instructions, Bugatti Veyrons are not to be driven in the rain. Keep it under that monstrosity you call a home.

Oh, it will not come with a card because I don't want anyone to think I'm getting too...you know.

From the "It's a Small World File"

My brother had a phone conversation with an old high school buddy of his last night.
They haven't talk since the late 60's.
He finds out his buddy lives in Eugene, OR and he tells him his nephew and his brother both played football for Linfield College in the '80's
and that they both were on the NAIA Championship team. My brother tells him his nephew, my son,  played for Linfield and was a member of the 2004 D3 Championship team.

What are the odds of two high school friends both having a nephew playing for two different Linfield Championship Football Teams?

R&P

I don't know what they odds are, but it shows they're all winners. They must have had a good conversation over that happy coincidence.

It snowed here this morning. Not much, and it didn't stick, but still. It's April! It's baseball and track season.

Wouldn't it be something if they had to call a BB game on account of snow.
Were in a period of Global cooling.
