Perhaps PC is too busy trying to help the 'new' LINFIELD poster to frown at O Bob's clever, yet offensive, blubber joke and remove it.

Now, is L & C dog PEE OH or 3.14159 OH?

Can you say  "PEE" on here? I find that clever, but offensive.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I have no idea as to whether this is just rumor or not but we had a copier tech from Canon that came in the office today and claimed that his co-workers (supposedly Canon does a lot of the office machine stuff for the Chargers front office and one of the techs knows some insiders....) in San Diego had told him that there is a good chance that Brett Elliott may be back on the Charger Roster.....not on the practice squad but as either the 2nd or 3rd string QB. Anyway....that's what I was told. I have no idea if it's fact or not.....

If it's true....that's fantastic.
I read this on the Charger's website:

QB signing camp fodder for Chargers

April 26, 2008

Coming as it did on the eve of the draft, the Chargers' signing of quarterback Casey Bramlet off waivers prompted speculation that the team might then consider dangling Charlie Whitehurst for trade. Not so. The acquisition of Bramlet does not signal a change of philosophy regarding Whitehurst, who is under contract through 2009 and is off-limits for the foreseeable future to those who have and will come shopping for a promising young quarterback. Bramlet, who has spent time with the Bengals, Falcons, Redskins and Dolphins but has never been in an NFL game, is merely a fourth quarterback, primarily another arm for training camp.

Meanwhile, the Chargers are still open to dealing their first-round pick and perhaps even a player or two to move down in the draft and gain more picks. As it stands, the Chargers have just five picks in this weekend's draft – a first, two fifths, a sixth and a seventh. The most likely scenario has them trading their No. 1 (the 27th pick) for two picks, in the middle to latter parts of the second and third rounds. Talks with other teams will go on throughout the morning and up to the time the Chargers are on the clock.

'Cats recruiting news:

Looks like Linfield picked up 3 very solid kids from Lake Oswego.

The LO Review: Eight Lakers sign letters of intent

From the article:
Ian Story, Jordan Barnes, and Brandon Akerman, all made commitments to Linfield to play football. Story has been a football letterman for the past three years and received 2nd team all-league honors this past season at defensive end. Jordan Barnes (OT) received 1st Team All-league and 1st Team All-State honors for the Lakers this past season. Brandon Akerman was Honorable mention offensive guard his senior season for the Three Rivers League and has also excelled in track this spring in the shot put.

From other tidbits that I've heard it sounds like Linfield is having a VERY good year recruiting wise.

Hey...sitting here past bedtime listening to talk radio KNX LA and the hosts, Kennedy (she) and Suits (he) are talking about African American kids getting to a city pool, making a swim team and scholarships will flow in.
He relates how he was a medicore swimmer in high school and got offers from (lesser universities), NAIA, and NCAA Division 3 schools.
She-"There are Division 3 schools?"
He-"Oh yeah, Willamette, LINFIELD."

I wonder what kind of "offers" he got from D-3 schools---academic scholarships?

I was able to capture the bottom of the 6th (starting with a runner on 2nd) and the top of the 7th.  GFU's coach (a former Linfield Wildcat) get's the boot early in the clip.

Great job 'Cats!

Linfield Sports just released their football recruiting list for 2008.

These are kids that have paid their deposits and will be in Camp in the fall.  So far there have been 30 kids to commit and more are expected.  There are some studs in this group:

My condolences to the PLU family. The loss of young life is such a horrible tragedy.

Welcome back, Tuxguy, and I'm glad you got over the shock of your gift. Of course you may use it however you see fit.  Perhaps Mrs. Tux would like it, although I can't quite picture that myself.

Come on, GHC, do you think I'd give away something as precious and revered as THAT?

I assumed you would have read through that entire LO Review article before posting it as an example of Wildcat recruiting dominance. But it's clear that you did not read down far enough to see where PLU scored the most prized Laker recruit...in two sports no less! Landing this Martin fellow is a major coup for the Lute harriers.  ;)

WOW.....good list of recruits for the Cats.  Looks like the "streak" will be in good hands for the next four years if these kids can produce like their resumes.  Appears like the Les Schwab game will be like a Linfield scrimmage.

Yeah, 9 kids on the Les Schwab roster isn't too shabby at all.  :)

Nine guys from the Les Schwab roster and 30 so far is awesome!

Thanks for the update.

Hey, D-train, did you see that Deschutes is opening up a brewery in Portland? I know you're a Mirror Pond fan, too.
