Got another injury update today from Speckman.  Whitcomb's getting a second opinion on his knee - to see if he can play again this year - as I write this.  We'll know more later in the week.  Leslie did pretty well against Cal Lutheran though: 10/17 for 105 yards and no turnovers.

My personal condolences to the guys from Linfield and PLU.  We definitely know what you're going through.

WC11, Glad you got to watch a good game even though it wasn't the result we were looking for. One question: Did you get a good look at the 3rd (I think 3rd) Hardin-Simmons TD? Carney said the pass bounced, but then again Carney was having some growing pains in his first broadcast. If you didn't see it then I have to go with the refs' call. If it did bounce, and since we ended up losing by a TD, then as Jared from Subway said on last week's Saturday Night Live, "That sucks a footlong."
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I do have to say, as much as it hurts me to, that Willamette has beat two teams that have been in the top of their conferences the last few years.  As for the rest of the NWC, well....time will tell I guess

MonroviaCat,

You are absolutely right!   YIKES!    At least Linfield plays them at home.

Yes, one game does not determine a conference's strength.    But, except for the superb Wildcat teams of 2002-2005, the NWC has been disappointing this decade.
GO CATS! GO!

Willamette plays SOU this Saturday at home...we will see if they are for real, as I think SOU is fairly decent and they are probably better than either Concordia-Moorehead or Cal Lutheran.

well...what do you expect when we have to wait another 2 weeks for another game.... ;)

D O.C.

You know, you're right.

AND we started a week behind many.

Have we considered that we pine for a 10th game but if a team goes 5-5 that will break THE STREAK?
I would venture there are those that say/think "Well, sure, a win streak is easier when you play less games."  :-\

I think Whitworth is the only school that can really pine for anything. Linfield would have to wine. (Not whine. Plenty of that in the past decade. :) )

Question for discussion that's been on my mind for a bit.  What do you guys thing of playing a team twice in the same season to get that 10th game, ala Whitewater and Eau Claire.

PROs?
Cons?

Is there any advantage at all? keeping sharp? getting a game under your belt?

Would it have helped PLU or Linfield this year had they played on the 6th?

Given that we have an odd number of teams in the conference there is a built in schedule problem that wouldn't be solved by doubling up.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Statistically speaking I'm not sure more or less games would make a streak easier or harder to maintain, but I'd venture to guess that playing an even number of games vs. an odd number of games would make it harder to have a "winning" record.

I like the idea. I think a game on the 6th before we went to HSU would have been benificial in a lot of ways. Perhaps playing a team like PLU or Willamette 2 times during the season would be great. However we seem to be the only team that has trouble scheduling DIII teams.

L&C 9 Games - 9 of 9 DIII
PLU 9 Games - 9 of 9 DIII
UPS 9 Games - 9 of 9 DIII
Whi 9 Games - 9 of 9 DIII
Men 10 Games - 10 of 10 DIII
Wil 10 Games - 9 of 10 DIII
Lin 9 Games - 7 of 9 DIII

Pat....some of us are beer guzzlers around here....we're not all winos!  :D

Just more incentive to win the games .....  ;)
