Pat Coleman

Franklin played a tough NCAA playoff game last year and has a win against an OAC team this year. No. 14 is high but not outlandish.

Monrovia - you're right, a high ankle sprain is no fun, and can last for weeks.  But at least its not automatically a "done for the season" kind of thing.  At least there is hope he can be back.

Thanks for the update 509.

I didn't mean the ankle sprain wasn't a big deal for Kemp...I meant I don't think the Whitworth offense will be any less productive than they have all year.  Take a look at Kemp's statistics this season and the numbers are very UPS-like.  And the Chapman comment was more because if you got to choose to play Willamette, Linfield, or Chapman, who would you rather play?  I think Chapman is an easy choice.  I think Whitworth is the better team (talent wise) and the fact that Chapman is small does not bode well (for the panthers).  I think they will have trouble with Whitworth's big o-line which Redlands had the size, speed, talent (ok, everything you would need) to neutralize.  Also, Whitworth's small d-ends have been getting pushed around in both games this season which I don't necessarily see happening at Chapman.  I completely understand, however, that Whitworth needs to come out and play their best game of the season (not really saying much) to beat Chapman.

Thanks for the clarification---I understand what you meant now.

Not if I sit behind him and have my hands over his eyes.

Quoteextremely talented, but they've got discipline issues.
Nothing new under the sun.

With apologies to speedybigwydD I shudder to see  LINFIELD go through the pangs that PLU is.

But you miss out on all the character building as well.  Missing the playoffs a couple years in a row builds what?...please.

I think missing the playoffs a couple years in a row builds disgruntled fans!  After about 6 or 7 years of missing the playoffs, then you worry about building character... ;)

Just got off the phone with Speckman.  Disappointing news for Willamette fans: Ryan Whitcomb is going to have knee surgery and is done for the season.

That sucks. We all hate to see these athlete get injured, especially when it's one that requires surgery.

Bummer....sad to hear it.  Lucky for Willamette they have an "backup" who appears to be very capable.

I'll say it...so do we.

Of course I'd rather have two capable than one.  I hope Cole is learning to get down in the open field.

I hope he is also sharpening his pass accuracy!  Need to open it up this week against SOU--  Noticed the size of SOU's players especially on the line, perhaps Cole can break some nice runs off these guys as well...

On WU and SOU###SOU imploded (as usual)  and didn't play assignment football.  If you look at the offensive breakdown for WU you see short gain or stop after stop and then long gain--typical of a defensive breakdown.  WU's win 1 and two are partially a result of teams playing a WU team that doesn't show up with a regular look on O.  Don't get me wrong WU is decent, but in preparing for WU you need more than one week to get ready for their O.
As for the Cats VS SOU we are back to whoever makes the least number of mistakes takes home the W.  The Cat SALTY D  really needs to come out with some fire and make a statement on Sat.  If we frustrate SOU early the mistakes will follow.
