...well...at least we both agree that you will loose the next 2.  ;)

Menlo will be a good test this week for the Casts...We'll see how another average Oaks team does against a somewhat unkown Wildcat team....Menlo is almost as bad as a bye....IMO, If Willamette doesn't pound the Rats this week...I'll be surprised....and disappointed.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

The Loggers knew what they were getting into when it came to scheduling Whitewater.  Sure, they could have called up La Verne or Whittier again but really, what's the point?  It might not be the case with Linfield and Southern/Western Oregon but it tends to get old when you are playing the same non-conference teams year-in and year-out.  At the very least, more football fans from around the country have now heard of Puget Sound.

Sorry to pull this old news out but just catching up on your board.  Just wanted to send along HUGE kudos to the Loggers and their coaching staff for playing the Champs this season. The WIAC's top teams have stuggled to find non-conference opponents well before the Stagg trips the last few years.  Your program was willing to take on a challenge dodged by many, many teams even those within reasonable driving distances.  In 02 and 03, Coach Brez scheduled USJ and MUC, saying that they wanted to get an upclose look at what an elite level team looked like and see how the Warhawks stacked up against them.  Worked out pretty well for them and I believe that the Loggers can benefit from the experience in the long run. even if it is subtle, immeasurable ways.  Very impressive and much deserved props to the Loggers!

QuoteThe throws Willamette had against La Verne and the yardage Chapman picked up against Whitworth were very different.

It seems any game is a test.

That's yak-ity yak, Menlo can rise at any time and everyone knows they're due. Look how Whitworth rose the past two season to bow on one knee and accept the games we gave them.

I'm not going to take Menlo for granted.  We killed ourselves in 2006 and only could muster a 21-3 win and we have yet to really explode on offense so the 'Cats better not just mail it in or we're going to get a rude wake up call.

I'm still on the fence in Whitworth vs Willamette but I'm leaning towards the Bearcats due to they have been getting it done all year long.

Yeah! Group hug! Way to go loggers! 8 more td's and you might have won! I am sure losing by 53 to a far superior team is great for morale!

Rats are crud this year, but 509 thinks he can filibuster us into believing they are everything but. Really he just makes me tired.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Whitworth mentioned in TMQ

QuoteThe amount of wealth being hoarded by the top few schools in the U.S. now borders on obscene. Harvard has a $37 billion endowment -- that figure exceeds the Gross Domestic Product of Kenya, where 40 million people live. That figure exceeds the GDP of Iceland and Honduras combined. Yale has an endowment of $23 billion. Stanford had a $17 billion endowment last year, and is expected to soon announce an increase. (Fiscal 2007 endowments for all colleges are here.) Princeton, MIT and the University of Texas system also have ginormous endowments of many billions. Yet Whitworth University, to cite a typical liberal arts school, has an $87 million endowment. Harvard holds $425 for every $1 Whitworth possesses. The kinds of colleges that serve people of average means have still less. Appalachian State University has a $52 million endowment, Concordia University (Nebraska) has $28 million, Averett University has $24 million, Worcester State College has $12 million, to cite a few of many underfunded schools. Yet the rich keep giving to Harvard, Yale and Stanford, which already have too much. Give to underfunded schools where the donation might change someone's life!
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

I'm right with ya Wildcat11....we can't look past Menlo. They always have good athletes and it seems like they have been scoring pretty good lately. I'm pretty confident in our defense after seeing them in action vs SOU, but the offense needs some fine tuning and a better passing game. I think we have the tools to have a great passing game and then mix in the run to surprise the gizzard out of them!

I actually have a feeling that Whitworth may squeak out a win this week at the PineCone Field but I think money would go on the Bearcats. They seem to be clicking pretty well and I have a hard time believing that Whitworth can dominate on either side of the ball against Willamette. Willamette's O-line is pretty large and hairy looking (why do Willamette's lineman always look like 37 year old ex cons?) and their Fly is buzzing to the cow pies.

BPress,

I'm sorry man but I'm going to have to pick the Bearcats.  I know the last time when Willamette was really significant in football you were still playing kickball at recess and collecting pokeman cards so it's taken a little bit of time for me to believe they are a good team this year.

If I'm not mistaken, you played against that significant Willamette team 11, no?  1997?

Final score doesn't minimize the fact that they had the cahones to step up.

I agree footballfan...they could have taken a page out of Maynard's book and scheduled the Puyallup Indian Tribe...  ;)
