Quote...our defense was once again damn good.

and that defense WILL score sometime soon. That will help.

QuoteLa Crosse is 0-4. One loss was 45-7 and another was 31-0. That's not that close...

I love to watch you guys go round and round!

Hey Daddy, senior season bring some fans up with you. Those evidentiary images have no one in the back ground in 4 of the frames. Looks like WC11's spring practice photos.

By the way, rat guy, who chooses to tease us about #5 being our end all, Tyler Mathews was an All-American qb the preceding season, remember? True, the other Elliott knocked us out of the playoffs, but we were content before we looked under the Christmas tree.

Wildcats - 33, Johnnies -34.

Yep, too bad we can't play this year. Would be great to watch. Too bad we can't get them on a long-term deal like USC and Notre Dame.

True enough...2002 team just beat up the NWC and 2003 wasn't a slouch either.  It would be nice to get the offense healthy and going because I'd say that this year's defense is up to the level of those during that dominating run.

yeah really nice to see a real crowd.  They weren't very loud for being so many

Went to the Menlo game on Saturday - I still can't understand Linfield's play calling. Why try to throw the long ball when the qb is only effective at between 8-15 yards?  What was the rational going for it, once again or twice again, on 4th down instead of kicking another field goal?  What happened at the end of the game - instead of taking a knee they called  a time out with under 30 seconds to go on 3rd down and then running a  sweep when you are up by 9 points.  Take the knee, end of game, go home.  Hopefully getting their regular qb back and perhaps their injured rb  will take the load off of special teams and the defense who won this game.  The winners on Saturday was the defensive effort and the kicking game (kickoff coverage was excellent).  Linfield is better than they have shown but they will need to bring a better offensive game plan to beat Whitworth and Willamette.  If Menlo can hold them to 9 points (and scoreless  after the 1st qtr) what can the other do?

Hey Coco,
Are going to be healed up enough to play in the annual  BWC Golf Tournament this Fri ?  I expect you will be there and medicated to some level so you won't feel any pain.
We will be down early and staying at The Casa WC 11 , nothing but the best and great rates.

GHC will be selling the remainder of the Catdome shirts this Sat.  Remember all of the money goes to Charity.  Hey I don't give a crap if they fit or not buy one.

I noticed SJU is tied with Carleton in the Top 25 Poll at #34.  ;D

I'm not a football expert but did Menlo prevent us from passing or was that the game plan, just to run out the clock?

Weekly Willamette Injury Update:

Bearcat starting tailback Kyle Johnson (4 TDs this year) is done for the season.  While we're still waiting on the MRI results, Speckman says it's "highly unlikely" he'll play again this year.

Any Pio fans out there coming down to Salem for the Wagon Wheel Game?

...our defense is only allowing 258 yards per game... that's pretty good, ain't it!

There's a new addition to the write up on the Wildcat Football home page. GAME HIGHLIGHTS! I don't know who is responsible, but it's AWESOME!
Jump on over and check it out here:  http://www.linfield.edu/sports/sport/sport.php?sport=fb

For those of you from other places who duck into the NWC board once in awhile here's a tad from the LINFIELD website ( underlines are from yours truly):

QuoteLinfield leads 26-5-2...the Wildcats held 13-game win streak before the Pirates turned the tables by winning the last two contests...Linfield has won 25 of the last 29...the largest margin of victory by either team in the series was Linfield's 61-0 thumping of Whitworth in 1966...greatest Whitworth victory was 41-7 in 1954....the 48-37 Linfield victory in 2004 was the highest-scoring outcome in the series...first game ended in a 13-13 tie in 1952.

Pirates 10, Wildcats 6 (November 3, 2007 at Spokane, Wash.): With eerie similarities to the 2006 meeting between the two clubs, the Wildcats lost the game despite outgaining the Pirates by nearly 100 yards (323-239), totaling more first downs (16-10), and running almost 20 more offensive plays (83-64)...the victory clinched a second consecutive Northwest Conference title for Whitworth...for the second straight year, the Linfield defense didn't allow the Pirates to score an offensive touchdown, but a turnover resulting in a score proved to be the deciding play...In all, the Wildcats turned the ball over five times, all on interceptions...

May lose for the 3rd straight time again this weekend but let's hope we don't give the game away for the 3rd straight time.
