Menlo made it on to the Sports Illustrated web site.  They are featured in the last video on the Campus Clicks page.  Pretty funny...

Sorry, but I can't see how you made it past Erin and Hallie.  8)

I'm on your same script D.  :)

I hope you are correct that football can make a comeback at Lewis & Clark because the NWC needs viable teams. I have my concerns about L&C football because the culture at the school is so extreme that most athletes may be put off. L&C is a clothing optional school and has gender neutral bathrooms. Wow. The coaches are great, the academics are exceptional but your carbon footprint is what determines a student's acceptance on campus.

And you don't think this will attract athletes?  Maybe if they had uniforms optional for the football team the other conference players might be less willing to tackle the Pios....  All in fun of course...I hope to see L&C bring it back around.   ;D

...sounds like a fun place to me! (plus they have a really cool retro cafeteria)

I see great potential for "The Streak" vs. "The Streaker" when Linfield visits Griswold Stadium next weekend. :o

Don't forget GRIZ the new logger poster. :)

Thanks for the shout out.  I'm staying quiet until we take on the Oaks cause honestly, after the drubbing by UWW, I have to let the Loggers earn me a right to chat on here.  Hopefully UPS can come home with a win from California before making the tough trip to Spokane next week!!!

Personally, I disagree, I welcome your posts and any insight you may have on the Loggers, past or present.  As far as I'm concerned you've "earned" the right to chat on here just by being a past player, student, parent of player, band member, or just someone who enjoys the purity of d3 athletics.  Now if you wanna come on here and talk trash like the last couple of regular logger posters we had you may want to wait till your Loggers can back you up.

P.S.  I hope the loggers lose this week, but that's because I took Menlo in the pickem'.

Oh yeah, did I mention I'm a former Lute, and I dislike the Loggers  ;D, but that's due to a cheap shot chop block that ended my senior year early, not any reflection on you personally, unless you played on the left side of the offensive line for the Loggers in '84???

Welcome Gizz,

It's Homecoming, Time to see old friends, drink and be .......... ;D

Just have fun.
See you all at the game.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Who's gonna get the start for Linfield?  Franklin isn't on the two deep but word on the street is that he's been practicing most of the week.  If Franklin isn't in do they still run the spread option like offense?  From what I've read on here sounds like the Cats will revert back to their single back pocket passing O.  From what I've heard Whitworth's D has been prepping about 80:20, spread:normal Cat O.  I think they expect Franklin to play.  Should be a good game...hopefully the weather cooperates somewhat.  I think Linfield is still prone to turn the ball over but I don't know if this Whitworth D will take it away.  Linfield hasn't played against a running back as good as Anderson this year and will have to account for him all over the field on offense and in the kicking game.  After seeing Linfield's adustments on Michael Allan several years ago I have a feeling they will.  Whitworth needs the W to stay alive for a playoff spot...GO BUCS!

On a side note, watching some college football on TV got me thinking about Birkhofer.  Kid has a boot (better than either of the DI kickers playing righ now), has anything been said about him taking a stab at the NFL?  I know it's tough to make the league as a kicker but it seems to me he has the leg strength to get a tryout at a few places.  Just curious if any of the Linfield faithful have heard anything.

Just finished with Homecoming activities at Menlo campus, bright sunny and 70.  The boys are relaxed and very confident.  Gotta thank Linfield for building the attitude.  Really think UPS is in for a long day...again.  Heading to Frisco for the big dinner at Brandy Ho's festivities start at 10:30am in the menlo parking lot for any logger that needs medication before the Oak Operation

Its a Double Haka Day
Here's wishing you a "haka haka" burning love  Go Oak 13!!

Funny you should ask--see these posts from earlier in the week.  I don't know if he's thought about the NFL but some of us have!

I think Linfield College placekicker Scott Birkhofer (Sr., Boring, Ore.) could kick in the NFL.
Any thoughts about this?

I agree BUT kicker has got to be the hardest NFL position to attain because (a)  most teams only have one kicker  (b) kickers are often able to work longer than most other positions (i.e. less turnover)  and (c) playing in D3 reduces his exposure.  That being said, the guy is a great kicker and certainly could do what most of the NFL kickers do.

As for who will start tomorrow---I don't know.  But if I did, I'd probably give you answer similar to the either VP or Presidential Candidate at a "debate".  Let me try a few:

1.  "I'm not going to answer that but let me tell you about how good our defense is".
2.  "I know who's going to start tomorrow, I know how we're going to win,  We'll get the rats no matter what it takes, I know how to beat them"....etc......

Guess we'll know in about 17 1/2 hours.

I still don't know but I think it's going to be Blix.  He's been working hard so I'll trust the staff has altered the game plan to his skills.  In terms of offense I don't know why Linfield would change back to an offense they haven't practiced since last season.  I really don't buy that Whitworth would spend any time working on an offense that Linfield doesn't run anymore.

Well that 'Cats have a chance to show if they've made improvement in that area or not and I think it will be a big storyline tomorrow.  In terms of Anderson...yeah this will be the best running back the 'Cats have seen up to this point in the season.  I like that Whitworth's strength and it's playing right into Linfield's strength so it should be a fun match up.

I'm looking forward to it.

I'm kinda hoping the Oaks come in over-confident.  I know that UPS was embarrassed by their play at Menlo last year and they have a strong senior class that is going to do everything they can to make sure that doesn't happen again.  On paper, it looks like they are fairly even and it should be a good game.

Not sure how many Loggers will be on hand (I'm still up in chilly Tacoma) but I hope that whoever is there can cheer a Logger "W" when the clock hits 00:00.00.  I guess since no Logger has made a prediction (since I'm the only Logger!!!), I'll go with UPS 17, Menlo 10.

Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Blue, did you pull everyone's ears?

It doesn't matter who starts. The coaches have worked out what needs to be done, and our defense can contain Anderson.
