Dee,
considering what I saw on Sat, they will probably get the #2.  The usual ECB will pop its ugly head up and the NWC rep will have to earn it the old fashoned way.

I know the 'Cats are a big favorite coming up to Tacoma this week but I was just wondering from you guys what, if the stars are aligned perfectly and Jupiter is in the proper spot in the sky, the Loggers might be able to exploit to keep the game close?

Looking at the stats, it seems like Linfield opponents are doing a little bit more in the passing game as opposed to the running game (which is not good for UPS!!!).  Is it a case of a more experience d-line vs. a younger secondary?

Same thing on offense for the 'Cats.  Linfield looks to be running the ball quite a bit this season as opposed to what I remember seeing as a student at UPS where the 'Cats would air it out.  Is this a reflection on the QB situation at Linfield?

I'm sure that Linfield is going to come in and get the "W,"  I'm just wondering what the Loggers can do to make it interesting.

I don't know about ECB...but maybe defending champ bias if UWW wins out. It will also be interesting to see if the SCIAC gets a Pool C. (Otherwise I'm sure their champ will be headed to Oregon for round one.)

The eventual ranking of brackets (other than Mt. Union's) will be interesting as well. That's where your ECB may play a role.

Because the fly is so weird, I'm not sure if I can give you anything useful from an offensive standpoint.  The Linfield defensive line is very, very good, and as always, the Wildcats are fast across the board.  Defensively though, it's all about Cole Franklin: the kid is a one-man wrecking crew.  You have great coverage, he'll run for 20 yards.  You focus on stopping the run, he'll burn you deep.  We were most effective defensively when Franklin had to stay in the pocket, couldn't throw deep, and had check down to Reggie Ford in the flat.  Also, be ready for the option.  Speckman told me today that our coaches were caught off-guard by it.

Pressuring the punter is always a good idea. 8)

I will be set up over in the parking lot by the baseball field.  Look for the Red Catdome shirt ( and the red hound doggie Mojo)

There is a chance that the boss may make me work Saturday but I'm trying convince him to give me the afternoon off.  If I'm stuck at work, I'll be forced to listen to the Logger broadcast and watch the Live Stats.

If I can make it to the game, I will be sure to stop by and say hello to all the 'Cat fans.

QuoteHosting beyond the first round or two would be huge for the Bearcats.

You've earned the right to use our stadium should you be fortunate to host a play-off game should you win the A bid.

QuoteWhat the Loggers might be able to exploit to keep the game close?
Eat your vegetables, get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of liquids, recover every fumble.

QuoteBut since the goal is to win the championship every year why shouldn't we be upset when we get knocked out of the playoffs with 3 games left in our season?

Because that goal isn't a realistic one for Linfield, you said it yourself.  The biggest problem is that the majority of Linfield posters (yourself included) don't just get upset, they get downright hostile.  While WC11 and GHC remain calm and optimistic towards the rest of the season (GHC may still be feeling the effects of his famed longies which would explain the lax attitude), some of you are calling for the head of Joe Smith and other members of his staff.

QuoteWeren't you kind of bummed last year when the Rats got left out or this year when they lost to Linfield to ensure they wouldn't make the playoffs?
Yes, I was bummed this year when we were essentially eliminated from the playoffs after the Linfield loss.  But I never took it to the extremes of the Cat nation.  Last year I questioned the committee's decision to leave the Pirates out but never went blaming the team for scheduling and losing to azusa pacific (even though it shouldn't have, my opinion is that 2nd loss is what did them in).  You will not hear me calling for Tully to be fired no matter how much I question the play calling, nor will you hear me questioning the state of the program after not winning the conference for THE FIRST TIME IN THE LAST 3 YEARS!  :D

It's a game...streakers are funny, bullhorns are funny (if used tastefully), drunk students can be funny.  Lighten up.  Willamette is going to rep the NWC in the playoffs and hopefully they can help with our already strong playoff win percentage....And kick the crap out of whoever the SCIAC sends up.

If everything works like I hope then it would be an 8-1 Redlands team making the trip North to face the #1 seed Willamette Bearcats. That would be an interesting matchup.

Very good post 509 except that you included me as someone who calls out the coaches or drubs on the other teams fans for their conduct during the game.  Please show where I've called out the coaches or the players.  I don't think I've been hostile but if you view my my posts as hostile than I apologize.  I realize a few of our guys are hostile and downright silly with some of their posts.  Taking them seriously is probably not a good idea :)
