The best part about Willamette's current offense is that it has even more threats than that. Jose Green, Deon Horne, Merben Woo, Marcus Woo, Jamiere Abney... All can run the ball, Many would start on most teams. That being said, many run from being split out. Even Senior FB Cody Anthony can rumble.
Even if the running game gets stopped (as it was at times vs. Linfield), Willamette can air it out.
I can't help but think that the thing that really makes all of those guys a threat is the O-Line for the Bearcats.  I don't suppose we'd see the offenseive "player" of the year be an entire Offensive Line.....  :)

no... and aint that a shame?
Indeed...

We ARE a Kinder, Gentler WILDCAT Nation.

Anderson did not perform in McMinnville much like UPS Lee could not. Woo is the key, so it is written.

I would have Nominated Agpalsa in '02... How do you not love the 5'8 200 pound offensive guard....

Stupid running backs always get the hardware... guess the fat guys have to settle for the girls.

And you honestly wonder why most people only last on this board for just a short time, a few weeks at best? Why should BearcatPress put up with this kind of crap?

As for fans - everyschool across the nation has @ssh*ole fans.  WU, Linfield, even Western Baptist (or Corban, or whatever they're called now).  After WU lost to Linfield at Maxwell field in '98 to ensure the streak, I watched a Linfield student scream at Speckman that he was a freak that should've been aborted.  I bring that up for one reason - EVERY team/school/institution has those few fans that are, well, sick.  I don't pretend to belive all of Linfield is like that, and I certainly know WU has a few as well.  Just frustrating when what is normally a pretty good board devolves based on a bunch of people that have NOTHING to do with the board, and have never posted on it.

Of course, anything I say will be discounted as being a "jump on the bandwagon" WU fan.  Sad.

WUKicker,

You make some valid points.   Linfield fans should not be rude or disparage opponents' fans on this board.    There is a fine line between good banter back and forth and rudeness.   I hope you and many more NWC fans stay on this board.    You will not get any abuse from this Wildcat fan.

WU won, fair and square.    You clearly out-coached and out-played Linfield.     All I can hope for are three more wins this year and then: next year!

I was thinking the exact same thing - Willamette's line this year has been outstanding.  Taylor Summers had one tackle against the Bearcats.

One of your tackles (#64) was quite undersized. #74 on the defense was smaller as well. I thought Willamette had some type of award-winning cafeteria?

64 is plenty big... just short. 74 may be rail-thin, but he can play.

Don't think this has been posted yet. Good news out of L&C land. They've already secured their schedule for next year, and it's their first 10 game schedule since the 90's. Wouldn't let me link it right to the release page, but it's the first article on their sports home page.

Pios Schedule Released

It also states the Pios are "anticipating their largest squad size in over a decade" in '09. 10 game schedules and increasing squad sizes are positive signs to the rest of the NWC that L&C is continuing to try and get their program going in the right direction, IMO.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Should probably clarify that the 10 teams are set for L&C, not necessarily the exact dates, which are tentative at this time.

Well congrats to L&C! I really hope that the Pios can give a few NWC teams a run for their money in the next few years... Good luck guys

Good to hear about L&C,

Now if the Cats could just get 10 games!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Ditto, Tux!

It's killin' me to see these other schools with their 10 game schedules while we have a tough time finding nine.

I hear ya, Tux & coco. Unfortunately, as we know it's not nearly as easy for our 'Cats. Although, now that we are three years removed from the playoff teams, maybe certain teams won't be as terrified to schedule us. Probably wishful thinking.
