GHC,

Sorry,
Mr. & Mrs Tux will be tuned into the Darrel and Dave show.
See you at the Dome for WOU!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Tuxguy

Thanks D,

As I said it may not matter for the Johnnies or the Cats.
With only 7 D3 games  >:( we just have to win the Conference Title.

...or beat Hardin-Simmons and only lose to Willamette. But you are right, it might not matter for the Johnnies either. Redlands is favorably positioned right now...

Here's my recap of last Saturday's game:

As for the regional rankings, St. John's has no business being ranked above the Wildcats, especially if you guys manage to pull it out against WOU.  That stinks.

"Yeah...well....we beat Portland State once in a scrimmage of quicker guys and Western Oregon University lost to Portland State University 14 - 31 and if we beat WOU, how come Northwestern.....blah - blah - diddy"

We have to show we're better than two NW Washington teams right now.
WOU will FEEL like a playoff game to the bodies in it.

Great article, BCP - I enjoyed reading it! :)

Top 25 Poll
Willamette is far better than their #11 ranking.

West Regional Rankings
This is even more absurd than the Top 25 poll.   3 SCIAC teams in the Top 7?   No Iowa teams?    Only one NWC team?     Is this a joke?

If Linfield played those 3 SCIAC teams, they would win at least two of them.

...you've got to be joking!....which one would Linfield loose to of the 3? Look who they play. And if they are all that great, why won't any of them pick up the phone and schedule a game with Linfield during the regular season?

You've got to be kidding. We have higher expectations than that. We have the ability to win every game.

d-train....I have a question for you. This has even been asked of me in private messages from other members in the MIAC.....why has PLU not been able to be very competitive recently?

d-train

Some folks need to brush up on the regional ranking and playoff selection criteria. Monmouth wouldn't stand against the top three from the NWC, SCIAC, or MIAC - but that's not the point.

Um...no, not this year.

I disagree...we have the ability...we just haven't done it in 2 games against 2 VERY GOOD opponents. We could have won either of those games without a few breakdowns. It's not like we weren't competitive. We had our chances......we came back from a 28-0 score according to D3football.com reporters and we closed the score to 28-31. We had breakdowns from that point after being in a huge hole. If we could have carried on with the momentum from that point we could have knocked off the #2 team in the Nation.

I agree with you Bluenote.  That game last Saturday could have gone the other way if Linfield had kept up their momentum.     I was feeling like it was 2 years ago when WU played at Linfield and was up at halftime and then Linfield came back to beat them.  It was like, uh oh, not again!

I think people look at the score and think it was a one-sided game.  The last 8 minutes of the 4th Qtr. was kind of one-sided, but the game was very exciting and scarey if you were a Bearcat fan!  Wu did not beat a lousy Linfield team -- they beat a hard fighting, good one.  I also wonder why Linfield isn't ranked higher on the polls.  I think the NWC gets overlooked sometimes because we beat each other up!  It will be interesting to see what happens after the Oxy/Cal Lu game on Saturday.

And, the Bearcats need to win out to keep their credibility and ranking.

What has happened to football at PLU?  Anyone know?

P.S.  On another note -- did you guys notice I'm a "starter" now?  I finally got to figure out the Karma thing, firsthand!  Are there rules for that somewhere?  What a great new toy!  (I mean awesome responsibility, PC!)
