Your fans should all wear purple this week, so that WOU is not confused by loud cheering by people in red.

Your Bulldogs are gonna be sitting at home watching your conference champs play in Salem, Oregon come Nov. 22...just like my Pirates.  I don't see what the difference is.

You mean like the Bearcats were? ;)

The reason for the discrepancy in the media guides is that Willamette counts games against WOU as far back as 1895, when we beat the Oregon Normal School Wolves 44-6.

Oh, I don't think anyone was confused about the cheering at THAT game!   ;D

Is it just my imagination or is there way too many teams who wear red?

+1. Though, I'm not real high on Linfield's chances this week. The 'douche' does have a point in that the Wolves talent level has surpassed their former rivals in Salem, McMinnville, SW Portland, La Grande, and Ashland. They are a solid D2 squad.

Actually, if you look at WOU's own program stats, it says:

Series Standings vs. Opponents

Linfield, OR  59 games played, WOU has won 15 and lost 42

Willamette  29 games played, 14 Wins, 14 Losses, 1 tie  (In WU's Media guide, it says 20 WU wins, 14 losses & 2 ties (their stats must go back further)

If the Linfield team that played Qtrs. 2, 3 and the first part of 4 in the LIN/WU game show up, they will beat WOU.  IMHO the WOU Wolves are having a rebuilding year.  I've watched them play the past 3 years and this year's team just doesn't click like the others did.  They have some good moments, but I can I say again, Linfield can beat them.

Sure, Linfield can win. But it would be an upset. I stand by my statement. The series history isn't terribly relevant to Saturday's game. WOU has entered a new era as of late - finally gaining ground towards WWU and CWU. Rebuilding compared to last year or not, they are a solid D2 program and a notch up from (even the top end of) the NWC and most teams in the NAIA. {...can't believe I'm sticking up for what 'jocko' had to say...}

Possibly, but they still have a chance unlike your Rats.

Dee Guy...yes, we're now NCAA Division III and Division III teams do not give athletic scholarships and emphasize academics. Did you not have your way with these guys too?

Sure these guys may be bigger, faster, taller, on paper but we need an upset to sooth our egos so let's go get 'em. We're certainly not scared and we have experienced losing.

Is Selway back for the Cal Lu game?  (Asked the SCIAC Oxy alum of the SCIAC Redlands alum on the NWC board . . . )

I gotta be a big Redlands booster as it's probably the only way Oxy gets to host (assuming it gets past Pomona and Whittier) . . . otherwise, another possible #1 v. #2 round one game in Salem (or #2 v #3 if North Central migrates over?)

Linfield is still in the hunt for a Pool C as well I'm guessing . . . I don't see Cal Lu in the hunt at all.

I think it would definitely be helpful for the Wildcats if CLU beats Redlands.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but then all three schools would have two losses.  I can't help but think that CLU's losses to Oxy and Willamette and Linfield's losses to HSU and Willamette would look better than Redlands' losses to CLU and Oxy.

I have been told by players on the current Redlands team that Selway is out for the remainder of the season, and that he has petitioned the NCAA for a Hardship Waiver (due to his injury)
If approved, he will have two years of eligibility left. (Another two years at QB...pending any unforeseen circumstances)

The problem is not really Linfield's losses, it's their wins.  Let's say they win this week and next---they finish 7-2 but only 5 of those wins are against D3 teams.  So the committee see them as a 5-2 team whereas Redlands, should they have a second loss would be a 7-2 team because all of their opponents are in the D3.  It doesn't totally exclude Linfield but it certainly would not look good...

My boss will not be happy about this.  my bad, the sender of WOU posts is not who you think.  let's just leave it at that.

Come on. Did we all just fall off the turnip truck? How many times have we heard that "My roommate/friend/bushy-haired stranger used my computer without my permission." excuse?
Two words:  THE STREAK

snoop dawg

The Linfield streak is something special but, Joe Paterno has been the Penn St. coach since 1966.  Now that is really a streak.

Linfield still has Jo Pa beat by 11 years.  What about Vin Scully, how long has his run with Dodgers gone?

Yeah but one coach for that long in todays sports climate is pretty incredible.  Not taking anything away from your streak.
