Regarding the resolution of the blocked FG attempt, recovered and advanced by Linfield: Bob Flood was up in the press box and gave an explanation.  Bob is a long-time official and was head of the Salem  Officials group until last year or so.  He had the rule book with him and had to go into it to check.  Yes, the rule was CHANGED, after the "Miracle (Miserable?) in the Mud" play which cost the Cats a playoff game a few years back.  I will not attempt to explain it, as I have not seen or read the rule, but Bob stated the officials came to the right conclusion after all the discussion.

Solution next time?  Tighten up so we DON'T GET OUR KICKS BLOCKED!  We seem to have become more vulnerable in both aspects of our kicking game: punts and FG attempts.

On another subject: I missed most (all?) of the buildup to the disappearance of Oxybob, but I hope he will keep reading SCIAC and NWC postings and come back to us.  I enjoyed his comments and insightful observations.  With that in mind, let's ALL OF US keep the insults and garbage comments out of our own literary postings. OK?

Thanx Wildcatter23...I was hoping for an explanation on the blocked punt.....Prof Hansen was saying that it was definetly a bad call unless the rule had been CHANGED.....wouldn't you know it.

The comment on Ad chewing out a few of his coaches infront of the players was a "eye opener"....sometimes you just have to take the old "Son of a Bucks" by the horns....even if he apologized for it later, I'm sure it made an impact.

Hello everybody. If you care, I made it home agian. I think we put over 6,000 miles on our car since the first home game. What a great year. I know there is 1 more game but this game was my last this year.

Big thank you to the entire tailgate team. You people are to kind and My Wife and I plus Granny and Gramps really enjoy the tailgate parties. The grub was allways edible and the beer was exceptionaly wet and cold. Thanks agian for everything and look forward to seeing everybody next year.

As for the year that was, I think it boild down to loosing your starting quarterback and starting running back right out of the gate. And then loosing the 2nd quarterback the following week didn't help. When you only play 9 games and by game 3 you are done to your third quarterback the remaining games come real quick. Becuase now you have to work on getting ready for week four. You don't have time to practice with #3 qb. Then when week four comes things don't look crisp like you hope. And so goes Football.

I feel the boys responded well to all the setbacks and we need to finish strong and get ready for next year.

From an outsider looking in Linfield Football is by far the best program around. And to quote Big Dan. After yeasterdays game the WOU players were celebrating at mid field the Linfield boys wanted to go over there and kick the A##. But Dan told everybody to sit down. Because those guys will be pumping our gas one day. The hole team got a chuckle out of that and realized that they are in one of the best programs around.

One last thank you to WC11. You are great. Keep up the good work and we all love what you do.

Ok. So this was a long post. But it is almost the end of the season and I did have a few things to say. I could talk football all day but I have to go watch the game with my Wife because I was gone all weekend. I love her so.

Go Cats

Keep up the good work

To me that's exactly one of the reasons that we should bag WOU. It's not that we can't play with them, it's that they along with their coaches have no class. That type of taunting and bush behavior proves that.

I noticed the taunting stuff even before the game started. But we went out and hit them in the mouth with our play and they shut up a little until after they had squeaked it out.

The unsaid words behind the WOU celebration...."We're really glad we beat you...because it at least validates us for today....because without the win...we just don't know who we really are."

and BTW that comment is not just directed at the Wolves....it goes for me and anyone when we forget who we really are.

BBC-I know you have been wrapped up in your little D3 world all fall, but this week you need a little D2 education.  First of all, WOU played terrible against PSU, they are a lot closer to the Vikings than the score showed.  WOU does not have Menlo or Lewis & Clark on its schedule.  They play teams like Central Washington, who would beat Linfield 45-0.  The weakest team that they have played this year is Southern Oregon, who you BARELY beat.  WOU won 35-3, and it could have been worse.  It is a different world now.  WOU's D2 talent far surpasses Linfield's d3 talent.  As it should be.  There is no shame in that.  But to think that "WOU might be a challenge only" is a very uneducated statement.  WOU is not as good as last year, but they will still beat Linfield by 3 touchdowns at least......

I hope that you enjoyed your lesson today.  Linfield fans tend to be a bit myopic, and it was time for a little education.
Just thought we all need a little refresher.  Did we see WOU's "superior" talent?  Oh wait, they probably just "played terrible" because they did not "beat Linfield by 3 touchdowns at least".  The reason they were celebrating at midfield is becuase they know they were lucky to win that game.
Go Cats!

What makes you think OxyBob is gone?....I haven't heard anything about that. What are you speaking of?

You have to lighten up a bit here....most of the posts on this board are tongue and cheek if you know what I mean....  and besides........ ;D Let's face it...most people that read this board are football players....most of them have a pretty thick skin.   ;)

Try this Blue---search for Oxybob and you'll find nothing.  He spent some time the other day deleting all of his posts and then deleted his account.  He is gone (at least in his known form).

OK....but what's the big build up to it, what happened to make him do it? I thought Oxy was a pretty good team and OxyBob was fine with me.........I haven't seen a thing on this board about it. Is it a SCIAC Issue?

I had a couple questions about the game. I'm not a football expert so here goes:

[Is it good for our punt returner to fair catch the punt on the 2 yard line or should he let it go? Some dude sitting next to me said you should let it go if it's inside the 10 and take your chances. He was a little grumpy after that one.]

blue, so now I'm a grumpy old man? You can say it was me, It's O.K.  ;D

Proud papa Joe, It was great to meet you and ad  your family to the "Linfield family". Tailgates a great, but these friendships last a life time. Also, after talking with you at the start of the second half and going up to my seat, I was still blamed for us not scoring on that drive, just as I told you they would.

I hope the Cats use this week to set the tone for next year. Lets beat the Lutes and Move on!

GO WILDCATS!
