So Blue,
You were at the Cat game yesterday.  Let me get this straight.  You didn't come by our tailgate and hang with the boys, you sat on the PLU side, listened to Frosty and got your afterglow on, is there something you are not telling us Blue ?  And all of this time I thought you were a Cat Backer.

GHC

GHC...it's nice to hear from you! I sit pretty much in the same place I have for the past 25+ years when I go to the Linfield/PLU games up in Tacoma, and I don't think I've missed more than a couple during those years. I even remember the other stadium they used to play at way back in the day before Sparks...forgot the name of it. Anyway, I guess I get kind of a kick out of the comments I hear around me as I'm kind of a "fly on the wall" so to speak. Oh, and as far as listening to Frosty...I do that every chance I get....just the same as I do with Ad Rutchman. They both inspire me and I appreciate them both. I'm glad you were able to make the game and had fun at the tailgate. It was a great game and I had a great time, I hope you did too!

Chapman. I like Chapman. CalCat likes Chapman. MonroviaCat likes Chapman. Yes, let's invite Chapman.
Notice none of you folk have mentioned the IIAC. They ARE closer than Wisconsin. We HAVE a working relationship with Central and Wartburg.

Wildcat'64

The "Dump WOU/SOU Debate" reminds me of the "Bring Back The Pep Band Debate".....the Wildcat fans on this Board were all for bringing back the band and offered to raise money to do so if necessary....guess what we now have the band back and the debate is over.  The Administration does listen to the fans and those who support the Cats financially.  I'm sure there are many posters on this Board who would send a few extra dollars to the Top Cat fund each year if they could be guaranteed that we could dump WOU and SOU from our schedule and truly show WHO WE COULD BEAT IN D3.

There looks like some great opportunities for 2009 of strong teams we could beat and help ourselves rather than hurt ourselves  with open dates looking for someone to play.  We could start a week earlier in the season (which I prefer...as it fewer weeks to wait for 2009) or just fill the two weeks currently occupied by SOU and WOU and have some real good competitors in the process:

September 6 Open Competitors:  East Texas Baptist, UW Stevens Point, UW Whitewater

September 20 Open Competitors:  UW Eau Claire, UW Stout, UW Whitewater

September 27 Open Competitors:  Cal Lutheran, UW Eau Claire, UW Oshkosh, UW Stout

"BRING BACK THE BAND....OOOPS BRING US TWO D-3 COMPETITORS RATHER THAN TWO DANCING ON THE "L" LOSERS CAMPAIGN"
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Wildcat'64

DOC,

Looks like Chapman will schedule a game the opening week when they can find an opponent.  This season they opening the second weekend, the prior year they opened the first weekend when they found an opponent.

Lets invite Chapman to open 2009 and schedule Cal Lutheran in the middle of the season when we dump SOU and WOU.

Sure would make a lot more sense and would show "Who We Can Beat in D3"!

criswyly, speedybigboy, Wildcat64....how do your parallels on earth compare?
(as in degrees north of the equator) As many who trek the Interstate 5 know by the sign, Catdome is almost halfway between the equator and the north pole.
What playoffs?

North Central stayed in their own bracket, not moved West.

Minnesota (MIAC) is closer than Wisconsin (WIAC) also and the Hamline coach is a Linfield alum.

2009 scheduling for Linfield.

If the So. Calif. teams won't schedule us, then if we can somehow swing the travel cost, let's look east.     Here are airline costs today to fly from Portland to:

Los Angeles, CA         $379.
Minneapolis, MN         $310.
Dallas, TX                  $299.
Milwaukee, WI           $295.

From many years of business and personal travel, it has usually been cheaper to fly east than south to Calif.    Still appears true.      Of course, the costs don't end there.      Going east will require one overnight stay; but, it is tough to even fly down and back to So. Calif. same day, with a football game in between.

The real question is can Linfield's budget handle two or three long trips per year?

Yes, I too want to drop SOU and especially WOU.     But travel costs are always a challenge and will not get any cheaper over time.

Guess it's time to book our trip to Salem . . . though the show did not specify locations.

Looking forward to a good game next week.

Go Tigers!

Pat says he likes Willamette or Milsaps to get to the final against Mt. Union.
