I 'm sure some hope that Willamette stumbles out the starting gate so they can rag on the mercats all winter.

The level of playoff chatter on this board seems to be a tad bit below that observed when Linfield and Whitworth get to the dance . . . or is it my imagination?

No, it's not your imagination.  The Linfield posters seem to own this board and they try to scare off any new WU posters.   Doesn't matter -- it's what you've got on the field that counts.  This year Willamette is undefeated in the regular season (10 games) and will face, what I've been told, is a tough Oxy opponent on Saturday.  If D.O.C. is right about what he said, I hope those "fans" stay home.   The stands were full last week with legitimate WU fans & I'm sure that will happen again.

It's too bad that the Linfield people can't just get on the bandwagon, like the rest of the conference has had to in the PAST.  I think those days are over.  Your coach went to OSU and they're having an awesome year!

So, Sabretooth, will you be at the game?

Absolutely!

Arrive early -- parking's terrible here.  Or just park around the corner by Bush Park.  It's not a terrible walk, unless it's raining. :D

I'm alive! ;D

I'm actually looking forward to Tuxguy, Bluenote, and whoever else decides to come down representing the Linfield crowd.  They have to cheer for the Bearcats - every game we play well makes giving up 52 points at home that much more respectable. ;)

Seriously, as the first Bearcat football poster this year (I'll defer to bbaddict on the basketball boards), I want to let all the Linfield folks know they're welcome at McCulloch - as long as they wear their cardinal red!

In other news, the Willamette athletics department announced yesterday that tickets for the game go on sale starting tomorrow - the first time all year we've pre-sold tickets.  All seating is GA: $8 for adults, $4 for students, and kids 5 and under free.  As bbaddict indicates, parking is awful.  I'd actually advise parking in one of the lots on campus if you don't mind walking.

Thanks for the tip . . . "rain" . . . that's the sky water stuff right?

Actually, I'm kind of hoping that I can catch a ride with OB on his privately chartered helicopter that will simply drop OB and his multitude of minions directly onto the field.

I don't think we've had to try to scare off Willamette posters in the past.  They used to show up for a day or two and then leave.  I'm glad you guys have stuck around this year and hope you will remain here in the future.  As for your second comment....I think you make a great mistake by lumping all "Linfield People" togeather (if we had done that based on the sole Willamette poster from last year you'd all have no respect at all).  I've seen plenty of Linfield guys jumping on the bandwagon though some of us have done so more realistically than others (I for one wish the Bearcats well but am not yet convinced they can beat the upper tier teams in the D3---but I still hope they do).  Just my 2 cents.
Go Cats!

MonroviaCat,

You beat me to it, as D.O.C has been saying all year ......

We are a gentler and kinder Wildcat fan.  8)

bluenote and I ( blue more than me) have seen many W.U. games in the past that our Cats weren't playing in. We just love Football, sure we wish the Wildcats were playing this weekend, but were not. So the next best thing is to cheer on the NWC Champ.

Enjoy the ride, it's hard to get to the top, and really hard to say. :)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Hey GHC...

I got a little present from OneArmedScot last Saturday at breakfast before the Johnnies vs. Carleton game.  I couldn't have been more suprised.  The Linfield media guide.  Very well done publication.  Noticed some interesting things especially in the advertising dept.  Boy that Wildcat 11 was a beast back in the day.  Pretty sure he is a 'Cat legend...

You're right Monrovia Cat -- I stand corrected and apologize to you & other kinder, gentler Linfield fans!   There are just a couple of Linfield posters that make it tough for WU posters and have actually posted that they hope WU falls on it's face to Oxy.

I keep reading about the tough Oxy team, but can't help but notice that WU & Oxy have played 3 common opponents this year.

Menlo:   Oxy W 38-28    WU W 28-3
Cal Lu:  Oxy W-24-21     WU  W 31-17
LaVerne:  Oxy W 40-27  WU W 44-0

In these 3 fb games, Oxy has scored 102, WU 103, but the other number --- opponents scores: Oxy 76, WU 20.  Now, maybe there's something I'm missing, but if you look at this & SOS, WU 113, Oxy 203 and the all important TOP 25 D3football Rankings, WU 6, Oxy 13, then I'm wondering where all this "we're going to whip you" talk is coming from?

Granted, they're just numbers . . .  Someone?

[Heavy Sarcasm]Yes, I can recall all of the great contributions and attaboys from bbaddict during Linfield's great run. [/Heavy Sarcasm]

On a serious point...best of luck Coach Speckman.  Good dude and always enjoy chatting him up.
