Actually, I'm kind of hoping that I can catch a ride with OB on his privately chartered helicopter that will simply drop OB and his multitude of minions directly onto the field.
I thought he used a parachute.

That was DB not OB.

OxyBob
You are almost correct.  DB dropped with his multitude of millions. ;D

It's too bad that the Linfield people can't just get on the bandwagon, like the rest of the conference has had to in the PAST.

[Heavy Sarcasm]Yes, I can recall all of the great contributions and attaboys from bbaddict during Linfield's great run. [/Heavy Sarcasm]

On a serious point...best of luck Coach Speckman.  Good dude and always enjoy chatting him up.

This is my first year on the FB boards -- said that in my first post.  Thus, the name bbaddict.  However, I have paid money & attended plenty of playoff games at Linfield and cheered for purple.  Didn't talk about it here, sorry!

Thanks TDT,
We should send out a Catdome shirt for you.  It isn't something you can wear at your SJU tailgates, except it is Red, but you could wear it out on the town--The chicks go wild for anyone that wears one.

As for 11, Well I'm not allowed to post that stuff on here.  Modesty prevails !!  I do have some clips of him at my single wide, good stuff.

In these 3 fb games, Oxy has scored 102, WU 103, but the other number --- opponents scores: Oxy 76, WU 20.  Now, maybe there's something I'm missing, but if you look at this & SOS, WU 113, Oxy 203 and the all important TOP 25 D3football Rankings, WU 6, Oxy 13, then I'm wondering where all this "we're going to whip you" talk is coming from?

Actually, I'm kind of amazed at the lack of trash talk being tossed about.  I don't recall anyone commenting that they think this is a mismatch either way . . . NWC fans will (mostly) root for WE . . . SCIAC fans will (mostly) root for Oxy . . . and we'll all root for either the Bearcats or Tigers over the Johnnies or Warhawks. I think WU is the favorite amongst the professional prognosticators.

And so . . . to get out of this "kumbaya" moment . .

The matchup will be the Oxy run D against the WU run . . . heavy pressure on the Tiger secondary to not give WU the out.  If Oxy stays healthy . . . the Tigers will not be denied. It will be a great game . . . and the Tigers will "whip" da Bearkitties . . . . (and by "whip" . . . I mean defeat by scoring at least one more point) . . . Io Triumphe!

Eat 'em up Tigers!

What else would you expect with a #1 vs #2?

It's too bad that the Linfield people can't just get on the bandwagon, like the rest of the conference has had to in the PAST.  I think those days are over.  Your coach went to OSU and they're having an awesome year!
I don't think we've had to try to scare off Willamette posters in the past.  They used to show up for a day or two and then leave.  I'm glad you guys have stuck around this year and hope you will remain here in the future.  As for your second comment....I think you make a great mistake by lumping all "Linfield People" togeather (if we had done that based on the sole Willamette poster from last year you'd all have no respect at all).  I've seen plenty of Linfield guys jumping on the bandwagon though some of us have done so more realistically than others (I for one wish the Bearcats well but am not yet convinced they can beat the upper tier teams in the D3---but I still hope they do).  Just my 2 cents.
You're right Monrovia Cat -- I stand corrected and apologize to you & other kinder, gentler Linfield fans!   There are just a couple of Linfield posters that make it tough for WU posters and have actually posted that they hope WU falls on it's face to Oxy.

I keep reading about the tough Oxy team, but can't help but notice that WU & Oxy have played 3 common opponents this year.

Menlo:   Oxy W 38-28    WU W 28-3
Cal Lu:  Oxy W-24-21     WU  W 31-17
LaVerne:  Oxy W 40-27  WU W 44-0

In these 3 fb games, Oxy has scored 102, WU 103, but the other number --- opponents scores: Oxy 76, WU 20.  Now, maybe there's something I'm missing, but if you look at this & SOS, WU 113, Oxy 203 and the all important TOP 25 D3football Rankings, WU 6, Oxy 13, then I'm wondering where all this "we're going to whip you" talk is coming from?

Granted, they're just numbers . . .  Someone?

Oxy up 40-6 vs LaVerne in the 3rd... youngsters played the 4th.
Oxy/Cal Lu played in a bizarro thunder storm.  I was at an outdoor event with my kids 20 miles from TOaks and we were not prepared for rain that afternoon.
Menlo, no clue.  I really didn't start paying attention until Redlands.
Football is just the warm up.  Oxy is a rugby school anyway.

Thanks!  Just wondered if there were "extenuating circumstances" or what.

A little recent NWC vs. SCIAC in the playoffs.

2003- Linfield 31 Redlands 23
2004- Linfield 56 Oxy 27
2004- Willamette 14 Oxy 28
2005- Linfield 63 Oxy 21
2006- Whitworth 27 Oxy 23

It must be something about November in the NW for the SCIAC Schools.
I like Willamette's chances on Saturday.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Good point--just a statistical note:  Concordia Moorhead's Rushing D gave up 88.2 yds per game this year, Willamette ran for 186 on them, Cal Lutheran gave up about 106 yds per game, Willamette ran for 240 on them,  Oxy's rushing D gave up about 86 yds per game----good indeed.  Willamette ran for about 255 yds per game on the season.  I believe the best rushing team Oxy faced this year was Redlands who averaged about 192 yds per game, Oxy held them to 162.

Meanwhile--Oxy has decent passing numbers (233 yds per game) and Willamette has pretty decent passing D numbers 175 yds per game.

Willamette has pretty low passing numbers (138 yds per game) (though the QB has only thrown 2 INTs to 13 TDs which is impressive) while Oxy's passing D is near the bottom (#230 to be exact) giving up 247 yds per game.....

Should be a very intresting game indeed...
Go Cats!

Interesting matchup all around, really looking forward to it . . . hope it's a dry cold football weather kind of day . . .

Any idea where the WU visitor's luxury box is located where they will be serving the Irish Coffees?

The difference in those teams and those outcomes was NWC #1's defeated SCIAC #1's, whereas the lone NWC #2 lost to the SCIAC #1.  So...if that trend holds true, WU should win this one. ;)

I don't think that the differences this year are as pronounced as they were in 04 and 05.  The 06 game was a good tight match decided at the end of the game . . . I expect 08 will be closer to that nature . . .

So, Sabretooth, will you be at the game?

Absolutely!

Arrive early -- parking's terrible here.  Or just park around the corner by Bush Park.  It's not a terrible walk, unless it's raining. :D

Thanks for the tip . . . "rain" . . . that's the sky water stuff right?

Actually, I'm kind of hoping that I can catch a ride with OB on his privately chartered helicopter that will simply drop OB and his multitude of minions directly onto the field.

Believe it or not, there's actually a windsock and lights for helicopter landings at McCullough. Salem Hospital uses it occasionally for "Life Flight" landings.
