Actually, I'm kind of hoping that I can catch a ride with OB on his privately chartered helicopter that will simply drop OB and his multitude of minions directly onto the field.
I thought he used a parachute.

That was DB not OB.

OxyBob
You are almost correct.  DB dropped with his multitude of millions. ;D

Actually DB dropped with just $200k - a fortune by 1971 standards.

The Bearcat vs. Oxy will more than likely be a close game till the end...but IMO the Bearcats could roll Oxy like a Mactruck...but I doubt that Oxy has the same potential to do that to the Bearcats....Mactrucks by two scores in my book....Actually this will be a Kumbaya game...since the term means "come by here"...which might be all that Oxy gets to do....again...Until proven otherwise I believe Willamette is the real deal...the last time they ran the table...they beat the Stagg Bowl champ.....Advantage :o Speckman

The matchup will be the Oxy run D against the WU run . . . heavy pressure on the Tiger secondary to not give WU the out.  If Oxy stays healthy . . . the Tigers will not be denied. It will be a great game . . . and the Tigers will "whip" da Bearkitties . . . . (and by "whip" . . . I mean defeat by scoring at least one more point) . . . Io Triumphe!

Eat 'em up Tigers!
Good point--just a statistical note:  Concordia Moorhead's Rushing D gave up 88.2 yds per game this year, Willamette ran for 186 on them, Cal Lutheran gave up about 106 yds per game, Willamette ran for 240 on them,  Oxy's rushing D gave up about 86 yds per game----good indeed.  Willamette ran for about 255 yds per game on the season.  I believe the best rushing team Oxy faced this year was Redlands who averaged about 192 yds per game, Oxy held them to 162.

Meanwhile--Oxy has decent passing numbers (233 yds per game) and Willamette has pretty decent passing D numbers 175 yds per game.

Willamette has pretty low passing numbers (138 yds per game) (though the QB has only thrown 2 INTs to 13 TDs which is impressive) while Oxy's passing D is near the bottom (#230 to be exact) giving up 247 yds per game.....

Should be a very intresting game indeed...

Nice stat comparison - thanks MC.

In talking to a few of the players the past couple days, I can tell you they're totally stoked to be in the playoffs. I don't see them giving anything less than 110% this Saturday. They haven't played a bad game all year, no reason to think they'll start now.

Go Bearcats!

snoop dawg

I think the numbers are virtually meaningless.  Who ever doesn't turn the ball over, tackles, blocks and executes the best will win the game.  Football 101, pure and simple.  Just my opinion.

Good luck tigers.

Excellent analysis....but it is still interesting to run the numbers...thanx all you bean counters....BTW, where is beancounter?

Interesting matchup all around, really looking forward to it . . . hope it's a dry cold football weather kind of day . . .

Any idea where the WU visitor's luxury box is located where they will be serving the Irish Coffees?
;)

Haven't noticed much Irish coffee around, but have gotten some whiffs of Vodka or Jack Daniels now & then.  No luxury seating -- it's general admission free for all -- Come early or stand!

Sabretooth Tiger

What, no sideline couches? ;)

The NCAA usually makes them sell tickets for a few bucks.

Irish Coffee?  I wish!  The University's alcohol policy won't let us serve distilled spirits on campus,  Beer and Wine only...

Oh who to pull for?  ??? I should root for the NWC Bearcats, but part of me selfishly wants Oxy since I will be in Southern CA for Thanksgiving and could take in the round 2 game.
To all who will be there, have fun, it should be a great game.

....Being Linfield Fans in the tradition of the great teams we've watched in the past, Tux and I are going over to the game at Willamette just absorbing the day and meeting nice people like BearCatPress and SabreTooth Tiger....and who ever else might show up. I bet we even run into my buddy Foss! In any case it will be a great day of football. We'll be hoping for a great competitive game. (actually we loved it when Linfield ROLLED over everybody in 2004!    ;D  but that might happen next year!  )

Everybody have a groovy time.....!

bbaddict

Gray Fox -- I know you already know this -- a "general admission free for all" means you pay one amount to get in the gate to search & scrounge for a seat.  Unlike some places in our conference that actually have reserved seating or end zone couches.   ;D

You can get in for free if you're under 5!

Sabretooth:
Last time I was at WU they only had seating on the home team's sideline. Unless they add more,  Oxy fans will be sharing the same sideline as Bearcat fans.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Just like at Oxy . . . I was kinda joking about the luxury box, warm adult beverages and endzone couches . . .
