BoBo! What are you doing, buddy?

Now you're sounding like the Johns!  "We're no good this year. You'll probably think you're playing a high school team."

I guess all that time they spent on your board last week rubbed off on you. No one out here is falling for that.
Two words:  THE STREAK

BoBo

Oh, coco, why did you have to come in and spoil my fun?!!

The first part is true, the Warhawks are a very young team.  Getting this far with such a young team might be due to all the extra games/practice they have gotten making it to Salem (the Virginia one!) each of the last few years. Playing 15 extra games with the corresponding practice time over the past 3 postseasons, in addition to the recruiting benefits of being successful, have made this less a rebuilding project, but more a reloading (hate the cliche, but it's appropriate) project.

Ok, UWW has had a 10 win season to date.  They've had a few more close calls than in previous years during this recent run.  But, using a MIAC guy to say they are not has good as normal, gee whiz, how many MIAC sources (dead or alive) have ever had a kind word to say for any WIAC school on post patterns?  They begin by saying we're pretty boring, our school suck, and then it gets worse from there!!  ;)

So, I thought UWW was a Pool C bid.  On the 32 Team capsule article it says that they are A (WIAC Champion) and it also says that for UWSP.   I know they were co-champions, but only one team from the WIAC gets to be the AQ, right?  Must be a typo or someone living in the past?   ;D

They are a Pool C this year bbaddict.  Point and Whitewater tied for the WIAC championship, but SP got the Pool A due to the win over the Warhawks...

That's what I thought, but in the article it says "How did they get here?" and for UWW, it's WIAC Champion for the answer.  (Of course, it has the same answer for UWSP, thus the confusion.)

So, did UWSP just catch them on a bad day or something?

KitchenSink

I would say that, first off, Stevens Point had a darn good team.

I would also credit them with having great preparation for the game, no doubt because they were playing the king of the hill and wanted that spot for themselves.  (I think Stout was well prepared, as well, and the Warhawks were a little lucky to escape that one with a win).

Wartburg had a week off before the game last week.  That little factor had to help them a bunch.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

criswyly

Whitewater has only beat two teams with a winning record this season....and of course lost to UWSP who lost to Wartburg this weekend...Wartburg had to go into OT their final regular season game to beat Dubuque an 0-10 team.....Hmmmm???

Willamette has beat four teams with winning records this season...and in addition has beat Southern Oregon who handed Mary Hardin Baylor their only loss 40-28....Hmmmm?

Also Whitewater only beat a 5-5 Stout team 17-10....(as KitchenSink says...."the Warhawks were a little lucky to escape that one with a win") Hmmm?

Willamette's first round game was theoritically a TKO before half time....IMO....Hmmmm?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

criswyly, is there any reason why you're using such an outdated and cliche method for analysis of this game?  Everyone understands score comparisons mean diddly!!

Looking forward to an exciting game Saturday...do you guys have any game highlights so we can see the fly offense in action? I did a search on Youtube and found highlights with Linfield but those were produced by the Linfield folks and only showed the Linfield offense in action

Pat,

Not sure if anyone mentioned that your alma mater Catholic beat Johns Hopkins to move to the next round of the playoffs. First winning season sense 2000.
Congrats!

Just wish I was going to watch a team in Purple this weekend  :o........with a Wildcat
on the helmet  ;D ;D

Tuxguy out!

Thanks. The ECAC postseason is just a one-game bowl setup but it's cool for the kids who really want to participate.

Sometimes schools are not so mentally invested in that 11th game and it ends up being ugly but it appears Catholic and Johns Hopkins both took it seriously. Hopefully they get something to build off of there because they graduate a 10,000-yard quarterback.

Barber,

You can just order this DVD of Speckman's Fly offense.  Put a rush on it and you might get it before this weekend.  ;)

Wildcat 11....wouldn't you think that the defending national champion savvy coaching staff has known about that video for quite some time and would have at least ordered it when the WU got the number 1 seed in the west?
This fan would have.

So, where do they get the refs for playoff games?  Someone at the game told me that the visitors' conference gets to send the refs, because we supply the field.  That doesn't sound right?!  I'm sure one of you knows the answer to this.

I don't know the official answer but during the broadcast on Saturday your announcers repeatedly mentioned that the refs were NWC refs but that none of them had worked a Willamette or Occidental game this year.  Given the NCAA's propensity for saving money I doubt they are shipping in refs from very far away.

I believe that in general refs are selected from outside either team's conference.  But, given your West Coast 'island' status and the cheapness of the NCAA, the announcers may have been correct.

Makes sense, I would expect to see refs from the SCIAC for the WU-UWWW matchup then.

Mr. Ypsi:  Seems like you had a team in the playoffs you support.  How'd they do?

My team is IWU, who had a down year.  But I'm also a CCIW guy, and NCC and Wheaton both won.  I'm hopong for an all-CCIW final in the North, but NCC has to corral a qb who laid 527 yards and 7 tds on Otterbein, while Wheaton goes to Wabash who was ranked #3 in the country before they either laid an egg against DePauw or got exposed as overrated - guess we'll find out Saturday. ;)

Is it within the rules to obtain additional game film and if so do the NWC coaches exchange with one another? I'm wondering if Willamette will ask for the tape from UPS's game earlier in the year vs. UWW (although I don't know how much quality info you get in such a lopsided contest). I remember this question was asked four years ago before the Linfield/UMHB Stagg Bowl due to Willamette playing UMHB earlier in the year, but I forget what the answer was.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
