I have the greatest respect for "Frosty Westering"....they don't come any better at any level.  I was glad to see that it was time for him to retire:)

wucatwu,

How about getting shirts for us, I'd wear it at least one day. Whoops, can't,
wont, not gonna happen, just isn't prudent........... :o was dozing off and almost lost my mind.  ;) ;D ;)

I will hope for a NWC victory, let's go with that.

As I posted awhile back, it's hard enough for the teams in the NWC to STOP the fly when Willamette is average, but when it is run right and with good athletes. let alone these teams who have never played or prepared for it. You think you have them stopped and then........he's off for a 50+ scamper for a Td. One week is in most cases not time enough. We will see Saturday.

The blue- Tux train will arrive around 11.

criswyly, what time is it where you are at right now? 1:33am here.( Yep can't sleep)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Is that baseball addict or basketball?

basketball, but with time, I've come to appreciate baseball as well.

BoBo,

I couldn't agree with you more in terms of what it will take to win this game (turnovers and line play). I just thought it would be interesting to try to compare the numbers to see where the two teams match up in terms of relative strengths. I threw in the subjective categories because I felt like the big play ability of Willamette should be accounted for somewhere in the analysis.

Can they spring those big plays against UWW? We'll find out. I will admit I may have been overly influenced by the "Derek Stanley" reference to Woo on Warhawkfootball.com.  I will go out on a limb and say if Woo is not "special" against the athletes on the UWW defense, Willamette is in trouble. From the playoff games I've seen over the years, the biggest difference between UWW and most opponents is line play. If Willamette OL and DL hold up, this game will be real interesting. If not, the #1 seed in the region could be in real trouble on Saturday.

I also admit, I know next to nothing about the FLY but the one thing the Hawk's coaching staff will not do is come unprepared.  I agree with both you and BoBo, in that it will come down to the LOS and time of possession!  The Johnnies have built  their historic success by recruiting fast, quick, (but not necessarily large,) athletes and they gave us quite a fight for the first half last weekend but, in the second half, the Hawks literally and figuratively, "beat them down," and for the Johnnies lines, that had to be one of the longest 4th quarters they have played.  It will take a massive effort like that for the Hawks to win against such a talented offensive squad like the Bearcats.

bbaddict..............the answer to why some consider you the underdogs?   Hard for homefield, as important as that can be to trump three Stagg Bowl trips and those rings .  ;)

I am curious as to how you compare Woo to other NWC RB's....in speed and ability to break tackles....

Being underdogs is soley a perspective....According to Pat Coleman he favors Willamette....and points to the fact that this year's edition of the Warhawks ain't last years.....that says a lot to me....Having been on this board since about 1999 I've learned to have a great deal of repsect for the man's opinion...He knows his D3 football.  It still makes me wonder awhole lot when I think about Wartburg going into OT with a 0-10 Dubuque and then beating your conference champ two weeks later....gotta wonder about that....That's not scores comparison....that's win comparison ;D

Dubuque was 2-8...small difference, but, still not 0-10...  ;)

I agree with you, criswyly, I also have great respect for PC's opinion -- because he's often right.

Point of clarification:  Do you get rings for getting to play in the Stagg Bowl or just for winning it?

Thanks D.O.C.  -- that's kind of what I thought. ;D
