Doing some non political "Pay to Play".....writing checks, ordering checks and planning for the family invasion of Amherst at Homecoming.  My daughter has an anniversary to celebrate and the "mob" is gathering for a football game and cheers with friends.  Expect a win! :).
IslandTimes' post was much appreciated.
Gridiron...thanks for the link.  Plus K.  I hope the term is not a common one used today, especially in the Boston area.
PolarCat....still awaiting a tailgate menu ;D. Me, I would arrange for a sidewalk food truck.
Speaking of tailgates, I noticed a grill smoking near the area where NFO posted that he watched the Amherst-Tufts game...near the FieldHouse/ Scoreboard.
Watched a little of NFL games.  My Redskins tied in OT.....seems both teams missed FGoals in the extra period.  WOW...sounds like a "futbol" game.  NFL should adopt a soccer like PK method to settle the match.
Vandy74...you posted something that I can actually state....before my time!  Plus K

Tailgating this season has been rather subdued.  Nothing too elaborate: grilled marinated chicken with pesto, roasted red peppers, provolone and heirloom tomatoes on fresh focaccia, etc.  Will go a little more overboard for the second leg of the CBB games, with both breakfast (pumpkin pancakes with apple compote and Vermont maple syrup, served with sausage from our local butcher) and dinner (Lobster mac and cheese?).  Saving the big menu items for the Hamilton game, which is Senior Day.  One of the Captains fathers asked me to reprise my slow-cooked hot spiced apple cider  with 181 rum.  May do roasted pork loin with roasted root vegetables for the main course, though Mrs. PC may cook up a pot of her famous homemade beef stew, simmered overnight with Zinfandel.

We'll save you a spot if you like?

Now that the Amherst followers have frozen out interest on this site - apologies - I want to point out a good article on NBN on the foolishness of the eight-game schedule.   Not a new topic by any stretch, but it is very unfortunate that the two top teams in the NESCAC this year will not be seeing each other on the field.  One more game and they eliminate that.   Great year so far by Trinity and really good recovery from an early loss by Wesleyan.

Anyone see Trinity losing the rest of the way?  I see this as an undefeated campaign for them.

The only way I can see Trin loosing either of their remaining games is if their QB goes down. Not that they are one dimensional, but there appears to be a pretty wide gap between QB1 and QB2. WRT the rest of the positions, they are 2 to 3 deep.
I am biased, but I was totally amazed at how they outplayed Midd on both sides of the ball last Saturday. Their D was swarming and violent. It was a beat down.
I can tell you that the game this weekend is huge for the Bants. They are viewing it as a payback game for last years loss to the LJ's.

But as some of us know, these are 20 year old young men playing a game. Anything can happen on any given Saturday..............

The buck lateral series, among others, fundamentally excludes trigger warnings.

JeffFan-
I agree. I have said from the beginning that Trinity would not lose a game but it wont be easy.
I don't care how many losses Amherst has- the game will be a test.
The final game with Wesleyan shapes up as the NESCACl game of year

PolarCat....sounds tempting, but will be busy planning the guest list for two dinners for two large parties.
Could have the food truck sent up.....to be "PC" proper, no tacos ;D.  which game?

PolarCat

Actually, a taco truck might be just the thing for the Bowdoin game, if we add sombreros, serapes and tequila shots to the menu.  We could keep it balanced by having pinatas of Hillary and Donald.  And add some Dos Equis for the Most Interesting Man in the CAC.  Que bueno, amingo!

NESCAC.Football.Observer

I wished i'd been at the Amherst tailgates... I was standing on the "other" side - opposite where the Amherst parents were tailgating - of the walkway.  Those parents tailgate well!!!!!

Haven't really thought about the other games, but having seen Amherst, Wesleyan, Tufts, and Trinity play (at least once each) this season....

Amherst 07 @ Trinity 42

Amherst has become Middlebury....   All pass, no run - at least vs the good teams - and one can't beat Trinity (especially at home) w/o a running game.

westcoastDad

Lumbercat, all is chill. It takes 30 seconds to scan a page

I'm sure that you and I both know the truth about who's taking what serious.

AMH63, wish I could be there.  Will be first homecoming I've missed since 2013.  But, looking forward to the Trinity atmosphere this weekend.  Win or lose, I know it will be cold .  Bringing Golf shoes for Sunday play on a local Country Club.  Hoping for mid 50s weather.

Dallas Cowboys won last night.  Dak is our QB of the future.  Just secured Clippers versus Warriors tickets.  And my Lakers are playing a better brand (which isn't saying much).

Island Time your words are so true.   We are staring down the barrels of a great team and a not so great one.  Like being on a see saw....we get to see how our young lads will react to adversity.

In some respects, I think it's better to see both sides of winning and losing.  Winning 21 straight is easy.  But, recovering from down times like we are witnessing the Tufts program or watching Williams suffer thru.....that's where ya find real "character"

Hope Halloween was a good one!!  Lol

WaestCoastDad-

Again I have to state that I enjoy your posts...you have added a lot to the board. You bring a different perspective form the west coast and you have raised some great points.

That being said I think you are taking the whole deal a little too seriously. You recently suggested that other posters need to "grow a thicker skin". But I think the guy with the Rabbit ears is you.

Your'e getting way to rattled when challenged. This is a friendly exchange, I would suggest dropping it back a notch and enjoying your 4 year experience with Amherst.

From earlier posts I'm not sure if you are a brain surgeon or a high level attorney....I forget.      I think you played at USC, where they take football seruoisly..... Thanks for sharing your personal credentials with the board. Very impressive.

Try to have fun with this, as you instructed another poster, focus on your son. This isn't about you.

Anybobdy who is going back over old posts to defend his position is spending too much time on this deal.

Who will/should be the Amherst quarterback this week?  After less than impressive stats last week, do they go back to Morales?

Some odds and ends comments...
Just saw some recent social media pics on the football website social media page.  Someone sent the players t- shirts with an upbeat message...before the Tufts game.  Nice!   Another was the team practicing in snow prior to the Tufts game.  Guess that answered my earlier question of getting ready for wet weather.  Hope Homecoming is dry.
My class has its own site for chatting about school topics and other matters.  The selection of the Mascot has become something.  General feeling of classmates and widows of classmates is a waste of time.  Do not like the fact that it is " offical"  as the LJ was always unofficial.  A Vassar grad suggested a different one for the women teams.  There was an unofficial one for some of the women teams...Sabrina.  The name of one of the female singing groups.  Sabrina was the name of a nude statue that was the object that odd and even classes stole from each other.  Yes, both ironic and boyish pranks.
Seems the choice was No Mascot.  One local classmate was selected by the school to be on the committee to select the Mascot!  He is going to frame his certificate.  The classmate is a retired MD, that collects antiques and junk and moved up from the Philly area and bought a large farm house with a barn that overlooks the Conn river.  Has an statue in his front yard with an Indian riding a horse.  He was an all- American swimmer in College and has a number of D1 athletes in his family...most IVY schools including Big Green.  Worked at UPenn hospital.
Most classmates think effort is a waste of time...when they found out from the head of the Trustees that it was being done for the current students and about PC factors.  Ironic in that that the Trustee is an alum and Editor of Vanity Fair.  Most classmates agreed that college rankings are a waste.  Their gifts are for maintaining  the quality of the educational experience of the students.

Heaven forfend! Amherst College infected with PC?

westcoastDad

Gridiron, my bet is he wI'll stay with Berluti.  After 4 years, he's rolling with senior.......barring some unforeseen injury.

gridiron

I suppose with nothing on the line with respect to championship contention, it makes sense.

I know the player's rallying cry in the Amherst locker room is now to wreck one perfect Season (Trinity) and preserve another perfect season (Williams 0-8).

Looking forward to both taking place over the final 2 weeks.......

The "preserve" might go their way, but the "wreck"?  I can't see Amherst being a spoiler in the Coop - MAYBE (Big maybe) if it wasn't at home for the Bants, ...and it wasn't homecoming weekend ... (by the way it should be a nightmare to park because of Homecoming so arrive early).  Good luck though, I hope its a better game than last week.
