Amh63,

The Trinity WR did play last year while his older brother still played corner for Amherst.  I think he wore #7.  He hit my kids knee on a crackback away from the play in the 2nd half.  Luckily, no damage.

The game will definitely be closer than advertised if a few of the injured on defense are able to return.

But, Trinity definitely the heavily favored and deservedly so.

Defense isn't the FKA LJ's problem...unless Foy is back as signal caller we stand by our prediction.

Nescacman....smiled at your disclaimer...nice....was it a group effort?
WCD...think the number is correct...too lazy to check jersey numbers, etc.
Anything can happen in sports these days.  Northwestern..another purple and white team ..made its game against Ohio State close.  The Cubs won the Series, even when it looked like it was slipping away. Kept me up way after my bed time.
On the negative side....Word is out that UNC maybe be finally punished for not providing an education to its athletes. Friend in the Chapel Hill area.  Harvard has just closed down its men's soccer team's season. The team had two games to go and was the IVY leaders.  Article in today's WSJ.
Strange college ranking...non sports rankings.  Amherst ranked no. 1 liberal arts college, Williams no 3 in the Wash. Post newspaper.  Scource was social media since I do not read that rag.  It was a rag paper in my youth and has returned to that level in my retirement years. :).

A lot of posters are concerned about extending the season for NESCAC.

Has there ever been a poll of the PLAYERS as to whether they would like that?  Not former players but current.  Or, even both.

Excellent post.  +k
Plenty of parents here to gather that info, right?

WCD, we can tell you are new to this whole NESCAC "thing".  ;D

NESCAC Schools/Presidents are among the last dictatorships/dictators (along with Syria, N. Korea, Venezuela, et al) on the face of the earth...the Presidents make all the decisions with little or no input from ANYONE. So our answer is "Probably not, but what difference does it make anyway?"

Of course...we are a TEAM!

All players I've spoken with past and present are in favor of the nine game schedule.  Most actually would like to see one additional out of league game added for a total of 10.  Not in our lifetimes.

NESCACMAN,

Because they know going in...that there won't be any playoffs.  If that was important they would have gone elsewhere.

I also would love to see a non league real game to give kids a chance to earn stripes without coaches worrying about losing.....

Will ask my kid...

Curious............which of the Amherst faithful on this board are making the trip to beautiful, sunny down town Hartford tomorrow?

Looking forward to a great competitive game.
The Bant seniors have never beaten Amherst. I would be surprised if tomorrows game is not being dedicated to them......

Thanks for that tidbit- Didn't realize it was actually three in a row for the Purple over Trin.
Makes it even a bigger game.

I say it's Trin by a touchdown but considering the speed, size and talent on that Trinity roster those calling for a Trinity blowout could be right but  I say Mills, the best coach in the Nescac, will make it a game.

For the record Devanney is a fine coach but if you put Mills in that Trinity machine with all the resources and admissions leniency Trinity would be even better.

Wish I could see that one but I'll be  in Brunswick for the Maine State Series at the one of the of the most iconic venues in all of D3- Whittier Field.

Whatever happens at Bowdoin amid all the anti Football rumors and their eccentric President I hope Whittier Field is preserved and Football in the fall in Brunswick will continue for another 100 years.

On the subject of nine (or ten) games, it's always struck me as inconsistent that the Dread Presidents have no problem with Spring Post-Season play (MLAX, WLAK, Crew, etc.) even when that means the athletes miss graduation.  (Both the Trin and Midd WLAX seniors fell into that category last year).  And even winter sports and other fall sports get to go to tournaments (Fhockey, MBB, WBB, etc.)

BUT, BUT, BUT I hear you say: It's EXPENSIVE to send 75 FB players, plus coaches and trainers to an extra game!  That argument would make sense if the Spring teams didn't have to travel to multiple venues for the Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight and Final Four.  That's got to be a bigger bill than sending a FB team to one post-season game.  Particularly if (as I suspect) FB players support the Annual Fund more than athletes from other sports.  In which case, you could spin a D3 Bowl Game as in investment in philanthropy.

While my argument may be logical, it's moot when the Dread Presidents believe consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds...

Yeah, this logic by the NESCAC heads has always been beyond me. For example, basketball plays so many games and so many teams are in the tournament every year (many times 3 or 4 and many of them get to the later rounds, meaning up to 6 extra games).

Playing sports is a good experience for all of them, perhaps more helpful to the rest of their lives than the one or two classes they may miss as a result or whatever happens. I've always desired to see these teams play in the Football playoff but even one bowl game maybe with another team would be moving forward.

I know it's a dream in my D3 head that is likely to be unfulfilled, like wishing Mount Union and Whitewater weren't always in the championship game.

Will be there JoeBag.

in Detroit now connecting to BDL.

Never been to the Coop.  It's their Homecoming.   I'm hoping for a great game but based on what I've seen all season.....it's going to have to be an amazing turnaround.

Nescacman

When the Ivies become part of the FCS playoff systems, the NESCAC will join the D3 playoffs. We will never see either...
