Cool days have appeared again!  Not true NE Fall weather, I know.
Several comments on football....latest member on the boards has a handle "before facemasks"!  Boy, he must be older than  Frank U and me!
On the Amherst athletic website and football website, QB Foy has been selected and cited for an off the field good works award.
An e-mail from Noontime sports writer announced a pre- season Nescac list of players to watch this season.  Lots of QBs listed.  Amherst has a QB listed along with the fine ones from Midd, Wes, and Trinity.  QB Foy who missed the 2016 season with an injury was NOT listed.  Suggest Mr Noon check out Foy's stats when he led Amherst to a 8-0 season in 2015 as the QB starter.

Quick update on Billy Football (biggest recruit in Williams history?).  He made a big mistake and his job is on the line.  Good kid who could really use some support right now.

"Biggedt recruit in Williams history" covers a lot of ground all of with which no person alive is very familiar.

Not in terms of talent, but 42,000 twitter followers ain't bad.

Wish you'd warned us the clip is NSFW.  The kid's obviously not a bright light.  The coach must have used a pretty big tip to get him into Williams.

Not impressed with the hype or the ego.  My guess is a year from now he will either have transferred from Wiilytown or left the program.

Don't think you'd say that if you watched his PowerPoint presentation on salamanders.

In the Old School talent tops twitter every time.

Wow, this board is getting busy again....exceeding the 800 pages even and maybe, just maybe reaching 1000 pages this season.  Got a hunch this football season will generate mucho posting!
Anyway, it's been interesting in the Wash. DC area lately.  Got almost 4" of rain/flash flood warnings, house guests, etc.  This Sunday, will be attending a D.C. Reception for Amherst new students.  Maybe get to meet some football players. One never knows about these affairs :).  Do know that "football boot camp" is just around the corner...next weekend?
Getting excited.  Last year, meet a "whist of a young lady" at the reception.  Turns out she was a great long distance runner...never chatted about sports...made All- American several times during her FY.

Not sure what this "boot camp" is to which you are referring.  Amherst had 2 summer "skills clinics" for high school players.  The second one was last Sunday, July 23rd.  They also held a "Junior Day" back in March, a program to introduce HS juniors to the recruiting process.  To the best of my knowledge, no NESCAC program is allowed to begin preseason till Monday, August 28th.

PolarCat....you provided a key "correct" date for the start of football practice...my boot camp.  I'm getting messed up with dates.  The offical academic year for Amherst this year is Tues. Sept. 5.  It happens that the Men's soccer team's first game is Sept. 5th.  Most other varsity games start Sept. 7th...like the  women's soccer game.  Am aware the FYs orientation start date is on the 30th at Amherst.
Expected arrival of returning varsity players on the football team to be earlier than the 28th of August.
If the rule holds true for returning varsity soccer members, than the soccer players have little formal practice time.
At Amherst, FYs, transfer students and those coming from community colleges have to go through orientation...including those that hope to play on varsity sports.
Enough excuses...I'm just confused...again.  Glad I did not forget my anniversary.

Training camps open THIS month. How great is that?

IslandTime

Amherst players who are not "local" get to arrive back on campus Saturday Aug 26 to allow for travel considerations. All others Sunday 27th, with team meetings later in the day. First practice Monday the 28th. First year players report to campus on Tuesday the 29th and attend their first practice the following day.

Football is Back!!!

IslandTime...thanks for more clarification  wrt Amherst!  Plus K.
The reception for new students was most interesting.  Lots of FYs that are interested in the sciences.  How I thought I might meet a FY football player indicates my mental state......there are no D.C. Area Football recruits in the class of 2021.  Williams does recruit well here!
In any case, did meet a young man who hopes to make the basketball team...a potential point guard.  He did state that his future roommate is a football player...close enough :).  Only old alum I met is  an Amherst Trustee.  Even saw an alum passing out new Amherst t-shirts with the new mascot and the quote from the Classic professor wrt the Mascot.
Yes, football season will arrive soon enough!
