LJ sauna BOWL is a perfect description of last weeks game.  The former LJs are expecting it to be even warmer on the road for Hamilton game.

I'm sure Coach Caputi's life is a lot easier these days having a QB like Lebowitz rather than one with a name similar to his... ;D

That's a classless, inappropriate, bush league comment. I'm a Bates guy who rooted against HC  Caputi and son every year and HC Dave was never a favorite in Lewiston.

However, to take a chicken****  shot like that at that him and his son 3 years later is total crap.

I'll say this about the son at QB. He might have made some mistakes in a struggling offense but he competed and played hard on every f'n play. He dished out some hits and came to play all day long. The kid played hard....... we respect that.

Why take a shot like that now... Total bull****.

Hey Lumber, this is college football, not Pop Warner. If people can be critical of James Franklin icing a kicker with a 56-0 lead, why can't we be critical of probably the worst case of daddy ball in NESCAC history. We could make the case that Mac Caputi was the worst starting QB in NESCAC history. Btw, he was even worse than current Bates QB Sonny Plashkes (who completes passes at about a 40% clip and averages 3 yards a carry in a triple option offense). As they said in Dragnet, "Just the facts m'am":

Mac Caputi #16 QB Bowdoin

Good points made Nescac1.  Heck, Sam Darnold of USC gets criticized routinely. He's 12-1 and potentially #1 pick in 2018 draft.

As someone who was critical of Mac Caputi's passing skills and HC Caputi, your claim of "daddy ball" is simply dead wrong.

There was one game Mac Caputi's senior year when, with the game clearly out of reach in the 4th quarter and the offense stalled, I felt HC Caputi should have pulled his starting QB and given FY Tim Drakeley a shot.  I criticized that non-decision at the time.  The very next game HC Caputi gave Tim Drakeley a very fair shot but Drakeley couldn't get it done so he re-inserted Mac Caputi.

It turned out the difference between HC Caputi's approach and what I thought best was minimal (and I'm quite certain I had exactly zero influence on his decision).  So, whatever you or I think of Mac Caputi's football skills his father played it straight up.

Now a few points of clarification / explication so there is no confusion or hidden agendas:

1) I don't know Mac Caputi but I understand from others on this board who do that he is a very fine young many and he is now serving our country as a Marine Corps officer.  I have the utmost respect for anyone who serves our country - especially in the armed forces.  My criticism then and now relate solely to his passing skills - not his character or leadership abilities.

2) Tim Drakeley was my son's roommate for their first two years at Bowdoin.  Tim is simply a great guy - the kind of person who made me feel very grateful that my son was at Bowdoin.  I was disappointed that his career did not blossom the way he had hoped.  But Tim got his shot and that's all you can ask for.

The Caputi family are class acts.  As noted, Mac is a lieutenant in the USMC, going in harm's way.  Oldest daughter played Lax for Midd on the NCAA National Championship team.  Middle daughter plays basketball for Bowdoin, youngest daughter plays field hockey for Colby.  All great kids who were / are NESCAC student athletes.

A self-aggrandizing, pompous little keyboard warrior who thinks he is preciously clever hiding behind his keyboard taking gratuitous swipes at fine people is not fit to carry Mac Caputi's jock strap.

Well said. Any critisism here, is of course, based solely on his football skills (or lack there of). As a former NESCAC student athlete and a current member of the USMC, there is no doubt that his character is an A+. We too thank him for his service.

Nescacman-
Mac Caputi performance from 3 years ago has nothing to do with the Bowdon-Middlebury game this Saturday. You went out of your way to take a shot at the kid and that's crap.

WCD-
This isn't the Pac 12 but even in that venue if someone went of their way to take a cheap shot at a player from years past which had nothing to do with the current season I'd characterize it as classless in that venue also.

Can we all just decide once and for all, is it OK to be a snarky a**hole on this board, or not?  I'm fine with folks being snarky a**holes about everything and anything.  I'm also fine with all of us generally treating people -- even good people who may have been highly unsuccessful coaches*, players who didn't necessarily excel on the playing field, or transgender kids who just want to use a bathroom in peace -- with respect.  But it's frankly exhausting to figure out which topics it is considered cool to be a jerk about, and which topics are considered off limits because someone's feelings might get hurt.  Thanks folks.

*For example, it would be pretty easy to be a snarky a**hole to AlDavis in light of events that transpired after Al's prior snarky commentary about Kelton, Williams, and Frank U., right?  Instead, I'll say that not all football coaches are created equally, and that's totally fine; that you can be a mediocre NESCAC QB and a truly exemplary human being, and the latter is far more important; and that every person makes serious mistakes in their life, and that we can all improve as people, players, and coaches.  Perhaps, instead of constantly slamming people and things we don't really care to try to understand, we should err on the side of being empathetic towards those whose perspectives and life experiences might not precisely mirror our own.  Or, if not, let's all agree that this is a free-for-all where everyone is free to be a**holes, but then no whining when a particular brand of snark happens to offend our own unique sensibilities.

OK, I'm done.  Back to NESCAC football, I hope!

PolarCat

Most folks on this board can play the snarky a**hole role from time to time, but balance that out by otherwise being genuinely nice, kind people, with a good sense of humor.   It's the 24/7 cheap shot artists that drag this whole board down.  Every HS cafeteria had a loser that lived for mocking other kids.  It's sad that some of them never outgrew that stage.

Meanwhile, Mac Caputi is on guard duty somewhere, defending the azzhats' right to be azzhats.  Who's the better man?

My 2 cents.

PS: If you are transgender or have a transgender child, I apologize if I offended you.  My bathroom comments were directed more toward the rudderless Rose administration at Bowdoin, but I can understand how you interpreted them.  My bad.

That's a different one, can draw many inferences but I'm done with this issue too.
In closing, No problem with snarky a*******s and no problem calling them out if one is so inclined.

I agree on at least one thing- let's get back to football.

nescac1

Thanks Polarcat, appreciate that.

As for Mac, I don't know the man but I'm confident he would laugh it off.  Dude has undoubtedly faced and beaten far worse than anonymous internet snark!

This site gets far too personal, starting with +'s and -'s of which I am proudly in the negative. I'd hope any critiquing of players would be respectful. As for critiquing coaches, other than being vulgar or wishing harm, they're fair game. They get paid to produce. Now, what are your predictions for tomorrow? I'd love to know since I haven't picked a winner since Namath and the '69 Jets.

I just had the "pleasure" of reading Michaeles' weekly pregame email. He said we moved the ball down the field well last week against Trinity, but didn't finish drives. And didn't convert on 2 FGs or we would have had a 2nd quarter lead. All I can say is this man is delusional. We were shut out. As in zero.
