Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Tom Brady should shut it down.  Watched that game last night and cringed every time he got smashed.

Used to love Jim McMahon's moxy when he played for the Bears.  But he took to many hits and now barely knows where McDonalds is.

Brady better hang it up.  16 sacks in 2016.  Already 16 in 2017.

Yikes!

PolarCat

C'mon WCD!  TB12 is a baller.  Whatever is in his diet is working, because he just shook off those hits last night.  (Or maybe Ms. Bundchen is the miracle worker).  The elderly QB who should hang it up is Cutler.  And he should be prosecuted for taking the Phins money under false pretenses.

The local affiliate had a great interview with Amendola in their pre-pre-game show, where they asked him about his special helmet and his fears about CTE.  Now THERE is a fearless receiver.  I remember when NE acquired him and all the so-called experts could talk about was how fragile he was.  He's silenced them now.  Classy move last week, when after scoring, he grabbed a JE11 flag out of the stands and used it in his selly.  What a bromance those 2 have going.  Can you imagine being 27 and riding wingman for them when they are out clubbing?

In other news:  Much to my surprise, WCD you are really growing on me this year.  +K, despite being wrong about Brady.  Would love to hear how you feel about kickers this morning after the fiasco at Raymond James Field last night.

Quote from Nescacman:

hear very good things about Meservy and look forward to seeing him play meaningful football in 2018 rather than just mopping up against the second division of the NESCAC. Before we start crazy talk about Leibowitz, let's not forget that FLB was a D1 transfer from UNLV and actually played as a freshman for the Running Rebels. Meservy might be good, but better then FLB? We think not....
[/quote]

Nesacacman:

Never said Meservy was a better QB I said he has better throwing mechanics and release than FLB as does another QB on the Panther roster.

FLB is a great NESCAC QB- never questioned that.

hamgrand.....alas, I wii be watching online :'(
Before my best man headed South to NC, I would take in more live games.  I would take the train up to Old Saybrook...near Old Lyme, home of Fairfield-Sonn, heck of a DB...stay overnight with my old friend and then go to football games.  Remember going up to Wes games and get free food at Wes/Fan soccer and football parties.....yes shameful.  Then again, remember feeding EPH alums at my class cookouts, etc.
Need to check the weather for game.....will it be a factor?
Oh yes, I would also fly up, especially when the school provided a timely invitation.

Weather will not be a factor....unless you consider heat. High in the 70s, sunny.

First, I hope everyone enjoys tomorrow's games. I'm looking forward to the Midd Amherst matchup and the Bates Williams. I'm curious if Amherst "is back" as I hope. Not sure why, but I admire the program. I'm also curious if Williams has made a really big leap, and if Bates can build on some momentum on offense.

On the personal end I'm hoping Colby can finally play a competitive game from start to finish. As most of you know all too well, I've been frustrated with the lack of sustained competitiveness by Colby. I would really appreciate the perspective of those of you that may see the game, or know people connected with Colby. Not sure how he does it, but Lumbercat seems to get lots of info. If you can give a post game assessment of O, D, special teams it would be great. It's worthwhile to hear what others have to say.

We will have members of our team at this game as well as in Willamstown and Amherst covering the action. We will report back on Sunday.

Don't hold your breath on Colby. They are not as good as Hamilton (at least the Conts have a decent QB) and Wes beat up on them pretty good in the second half.

2017 Week #4 NESCACMAN Preview

Welcome to Week 4 in the NESCAC..."the league where they pay to play". Last week we went 5-0, we are 13-2 for the season and are 137-38 for our career picking NESCAC games. Week 3 went totally as expected with all of the favorites winning. The only surprise last week was Trinity falling asleep at the switch and barely surviving against the Ephs.  Week 4 features 3 scrimmages, a battle for supremacy of the NESCAC second division and the GOTY to date with "The Team Formerly Known as the Lord Jeffs" hosting Middlebury.

Colby College at Wesleyan University: Wesleyan gets another week to get work out their ground game. Wes is second in the 'CAC in total offense averaging 425 yards per game, more than double what Colby averages. Colby is last, averaging only 207 yards per game. Wes is also averaging 24 first downs per game, while Colby only averages 13. Wes leads the NESCAC in sacks with 13, while Colby only has 3. Colby has only scored 2 TDs in 3 games and their longest play from scrimmage is 24 yards. Cards WR Breuler leads the Nation is receptions per game and is a candidate for NESCAC OPOTY. WES DB Thaw leads the 'CAC with 2 INTs in 3 games. What this all means...trouble for the Mules on the road in Middletown.

Wesleyan 37 Colby 7
Weather: Not a factor. High around 80.

Hamilton College at Hartford State College: We have seen Hamilton play and are almost ready to pronounce the Conts kings of the ankle biters. HS likes to run the ball (2nd in the NESCAC in rushing) and the Conts are last in rushing D. Not a good combo. HAM can throw the ball behind QB Gray and are 3rd in the 'CAC in passing yards per game. HS is first in pass TDs and INTs. We think the HS pass D prevails. HS has beaten the Conts in 22 straight games. HS does not lose at home. This week will be no exception.

Hartford State 34 Hamilton 10
Weather: Not a factor. High around 80.

University of Bates (Lewiston Campus) at Williams College: Interesting game this week featuring two 2nd division "powerhouses". Bates has history on their side winning 4 of their last 5 games against the Ephs. Neither Team is particularly strong offensively. Bates is 2nd to last in the 'CAC in yards per game and Williams is 7th. Defensively, neither Team has an INT, Williams is 2nd in the 'CA in sacks, and Bates is last in points allowed. Bates hope here is to run the ball, control the clock and avoid turnovers and penalties. We bet they can't. HCOF Raymond gets 'CAC career win #3. This might be his last for 2017. The Ephs win the C-B-B. Congrats for that.

Williams 17 U of B 10
Weather: Not a factor. High around 79.

Bowdoin College at Tufts University: QB McDonald is second in the 'CAC in rushing. Tufts has 1,232 yards of total offense...962 of that is due to McDonald. The PBers give up 477 yards per game. Bowdoin has lost 11 games in a row. This will be #12.

Tufts 28 Bowdoin 10
Weather: Not a factor. High around 75.

NESCAC Game of the Week

Middlebury College at Amhurst College: Game of the season thus far. Both teams come in undefeated. Both Teams score a lot of points as they are tied for the 'CAC lead with 208 points scored. How they get there is a little different. MID leads the league in passing, while the former LJs lead the league in rushing. Defensively, they are ranked 3rd and 4th. Both are great against the run. We think AMH behind RB Hickey controls the ball and the clock and ekes one out at home.

Amhurst 24 Middlebury 21
Weather: Not a factor. High around 79.

NESCACMAN's Picks
2017 Season: 13-2
2016 Season: 32-8
2015 Season: 30-10
2014 Season: 30-10
2013 Season: 32-8
Career: 137-38 (.783 winning percentage)

Ok Polar Cat,

Remember to be first responder to the tb12 household when he needs a driver around town.  He wasnt shaking off those hits last night.  The one where he was sandwiched even had ME cringing from 2500 miles plus away.  The Dolphins are laying in wait for ol Tom.

#80 has definitely overachieved expectations in lieu of two of tb12s stud receivers being on injured list.  Not sure how they continue to get away with the steve deberg dink and dunk offense.  really is a head scratcher.

Nick Polk?  please someone help him.  our Amherst kicker has better game (dayum, the Indians just tied this dang game 8-8.  I can't believe this).   our #20 is definitely a football player   ;D

I gotta go.  My Yankees need my full attention!

I'll take the Snow Panthers tomorrow- if the Blue and White hold Hickey under 100 yards they will prevail.

Know what game most of the posters here will watch....yes it is the late game :)
Interesting posts lately.
Snow Panthers?...Lumbercat.  Know there is a snow Leopard and a Polarbears.  Midd has the same Mascot As Penn State...and colors....and helmet style of Michigan.
Must be smoking the same brand as WCD....Yankee fan?  OK, Tish has a piece of the Yankees now.
Mentioned earlier that hockey action is too fast for me.  Baseball is too slow for me...stats now show the game is getting longer.  Thought WCD was an action man :)
Oh forgot....it is still morning but both Midd and Amherst have NOT posted game previews yet.  Guess both HCs are playing it close to their chest...so to speak.
Do have a question though....does Midd consider this a day trip down...being it is an hour later?
It will be the only game in town.  Amherst's other Fall teams are away....soccer and field hockey games are at Clinton, NY.

ColbyFootball

Wes starts at own 40. Colby D forces 3 and out. The usual Colby start. Colby 1st and 10 at their own 24.

Colby converts. 1st and 10 at the 34. Colby loses 1 yard but Barron dies the job with a 60+ yard punt to the 6 inch line.

ColbyFootball

Wes 3 and out. Colby takes over 1st and 10at Wes' 38.

ColbyFootball

Baron booms another punt to the Wes 8. Baron is a beast.
