CF, I feel your pain, like your passion, and admire your stubbornness, but I do think there are a couple things you are missing:

1) There is a talent gap when comparing to the top teams.  A couple of your starting O-linemen look like they could be promising FY kids that could be solid enough after two off-seasons of hard work (one example).  As someone else on the board pointed out, the whole team plays hard, but IMO a 14-7 half score was a darn good coaching job.
2) If you want to throw down field, you need time to do it and weapons to make the connections.  I believe the talent gap forces the conservative play calls.  You might have a small point here, though.  Gotta keep defenses honest.
3) if I've followed you right, your son joined a program that was coming off 2-6 and 1-7 seasons.  You had to have some idea that this might be in the pipeline, no?

I hope they can hang tough and have a competitive second half of the season.

While I agree with all your other points, ColbyFootball's kid is a senior.  Dad used to post here under another name the kid's first and second years.   The Michaeles-as-Antichrist meme has been a constant, regardless of the alias he posts under.

As previous stated, time's to precious to waste addressing your rubbish. But knock yourself out.

PolarCat....seems to me that you threw a glove at my feet :).
Thanks Nescac1 for the name of the Pep Band.  It does provide atmosphere, BUT a Marching Band it is not other than moves on the field.  In days gone bye, Amherst would sometimes hire a local HS band to provide some atmosphere but they were not a hit.
Do not feel Willytown atmosphere will be a factor...hip or not...in the recruiting "game".  There is a reason when the Williams Prez left with some students to go to Amherst.  It is to be noted that my wife and I enjoyed our frequent visits to Willytown to visit the art galleries, attend the theater and to dine even.  The Berkshires is and has been a region for tourists  historically...even for the Boston crowd. Sport Facilities, I believe the Taconic Golf Course is one of the best in the North East.  Yale and Williams golf courses are indeed rated the top two.  Historically both schools have "competed" well against each other for student athletes in all sports.  Wes and Tufts have entered the field recently in basketball, soccer and tennis...etc.
Last point, you should be concerned PolarCat about Bates' President, a Williams graduate.  Williams has just recently announced a search for a new Prez.  The present one is leaving soon.  Hope some Jeff fans suggest the Amherst Prez as a possible candidate :).  Col. EPH was also a player in the French- Indian War....served under Lord Jeff even!   Maybe a moose will wander up in Willytown, behind the long empty President resident.  I can only hope.. :). What is the brand of your single Malt PolarCat? ...Oban?

Good news that the NESCAC schedule will be rotated.  That said, unless the BBC agrees not to play their games against each other in the last three weeks of the season, the early part of their schedules will remain extremely tough.  It would better to spread those games out IMO.  Hopefully that will be changing.

According to Whalen, Colby Bowdoin will be retained as the final game. He didn't mention Bates against Colby or Bowdoin. I'm sure it will be a work in progress with a few bumps here and there. But it has to be a vast improvement.

amh63, don't worry. Williams will take care of itself.

I've expressed my opinions on Colby, and you are free to disagree. But these are the facts. The starting QB, team, completions and average yards per completion are as follows through 4 games:

Piccirillo/Wes - 108/11.83
Lebieitz/Midd - 92/13.71
Puzo/Trinity - 67/14.28
Gray/Hamilton - 79/12.06
Maimarin/Williams - 66//13.56
McFonald/Tufts - 79/11.16
Eberth-Foy/Amherst - 45/17.17
Steal up/Bowdoin - 36/9.55
Costa-Golden-Plashkes/Bates - 37/10.43
O'Brien/Colby - 67/5.8

I guess the 9 other teams have superior players.

‪anyone catch what happened at the Hamilton and Trinity game when they almost cancelled the national anthem due to technical difficulties with the equipment.

Everyone on Both the Hamilton and Trinity teams sang the National Anthem.

Helluva stat.  Amherst should have 48.  But amazing Amherst has the fewest by far of the supposed top tier teams.

Good stuff

I was there. It was great. Didn't take the crowd and teams 10 seconds after he announced there were tech issues to start singing.

And the Hamilton crowd was having fun with being up 13-0. An awkward setup having the visiting fans right behind the Trinity defense on the sidelines. One of the Trinity players comes off the field after first series and loudly claimed "they suck". Well the Hamilton fans let the Bantam players have it when they were up by 2 touchdowns! "How bad they suck now!"

Was great entertainment.

Didn't last.

And made it over to catch 2nd half of Amherst Midd game.

Congrats to Midd on the win. Watching them yell their Cheer Boys Cheer on the 50 as Amherst players slowly sulked to the fieldhouse was a sight. Midd plays with a chip on their shoulder and you know they enjoyed sticking it to the non-believers.

P'bearfan

Just saw the stats from this past weekend's Bowdoin v Tufts game.  Tufts' offense racked 462 total yds vs 216 for the P'bears.  Somehow though Bowdoin won the time of possession 34:43 to 25:17.  Ddin't see the game but that seems odd.  Not sure how you maintain the ball 9+ minutes more than your opponent and rack up less than half the offense.

Hopefully, Bowdoin will be able to notch their first W of the season this coming weekend against Hamilton.

I'm guessing lots of big plays for Tufts, or scores off turnovers. I haven't looked at the recap and box score very closely, but it seems odd to me, as well.
