If American Exceptionalism exists, then why has this country come to be in such an unremedied mess?
Did Andrew Cuomo help you with this post?

On behalf of all generations that preceded millenials, dear millenials: I promise that not ALL of us (including some who love sports) are complete jack-asses.

On another note, two of my friends' (one of whom served 20 years in the Marines) kids - both wonderful young people - happen to be transgender.  Thankfully their dads are both totally supportive, I can't imagine how miserable their already-difficult lives would be if they had a father like you.

Hopefully this becomes a football discussion forum soon.

To whom was that insult directed?

nescac1

To the guy who unilaterally disparaged an entire generation (for, ironically, making unfair assumptions and generalizations) while being blatantly transphobic.  Know anyone like that?

PolarCat

I know a guy who feels there is a lot of wrong-headedness among Millenials, and the college Administrators who coddle them.  With 2 kids who just graduated NESCAC, I saw a lot of stuff that just appalled me.  For example, while I have great sympathy for anyone who is struggling with their birth gender, but I think it is lunacy for the Bowdoin Health Plan to pay for free gender reassignment surgery.

That procedure is only "free" in the sense that someone else is footing the bill.  And as one of the (30%?  40%?) of parents who are "lucky" enough to have paid 8 years of full tuition, I'd like to think my tuition dollars could have been used in a way that benefitted a wider array of students.

As a taxpayer, I feel the same way about paying for Bradley Manning's transition to Chelsea Manning.

You are entitled to your opinion.  But you don't know me, nor do you know my kids.  I think both of them would disagree with your cheap shot pretty vehemently.

nescac1

You called an entire generation "evil spawn."  That is a cheap shot.  Mine was richly earned, snowflake.

In a more productive way, here is why these posts are so irritating to me:

(1) you've made these same type of comments, over and over, for years now.
(2) if I wanted to read these sort of mean-spirited generic culture war rants, I could watch Fox News, or read Breitbart, or listen to Limbaugh.  This is a D3football forum.
(3) if you actually cared about moving the needle on these issues, these repetitive, mean-spirited rants certainly aren't the avenue.  You claim to be sympathetic to transgender kids' plight, which I applaud, but I promise you, not one reading your rant would find anything to remotely suggest that perspective.  All they would see is disgust and fear.   If you must rant about these issues yet again, I have to think there is way to do so without coming across like someone so full of bile, hatred, and stereotypes.
(4) I'm sure you are a great dad to your kids.  But I'm guessing your kids are gifted intellectually and athletically, among other natural attributes that make their lives easier.  Not every parent is similarly situated.

Now I'll return to football. An early pick for this year's standings:

1. Trinity (not even close, given the QB they brought in along with everything else)
2. Amherst
3. Williams / Wesleyan
5. Tufts
6. Midd
7. Hamilton
8. Colby
9. Bowdoin
10. Bates

I have scanned the rosters of all the Nescac football teams...2017 season.  Yes, Trinity has received the early season publicity to date.  Feel that Nescac1 has Midd a little low.  Do feel that there maybe a battle between Trinity, Midd, Wes and Amherst for the title.  Williams had a great season in 2017, but their FY QB will be a marked man this season and will have a tough time in 2018.
Amherst must rebuild it's OL.  Finger crossed that some youngsters who have the size wil develop early.  On the defensive side, I believe Amherst has the talent to carry the team until the offense develops.  Special teams will be the best in the conference :).  There....my early Bold assertions.

nescac1

I'm probably too hard on Midd.  But 2-6 to me looks like a pretty big crapshoot and someone has to slide out of the top five.    Midd's offense looks loaded as always.  But the question for them is on D where they lose five key guys including two major stars from a unit that was only OK to begin with.  They could be in a lot of shootouts next year.

Williams won't surprise anyone this year, but the Ephs should be a lot deeper and more experienced on offense (all those frosh should be better as sophomores, and there is now more talented depth at wr and te, and Maimaron is the real deal, no way to gameplan for him really) and the LB / DB groups are really good with everyone back.  The big question is on the DL.

Amherst is beyond loaded on D, should b best in league for sure, but loses a lot of good players on offense, the question there is explosive playmakers.  Tufts suffers massive losses up front on D.  Same for Wes at WR.  I feel like every team 2-6 is talented but with big question marks. Trinity thanks to the added QB talent seems to have none.

Nescac 1....the glove has been thrown this pre season.  Now with the rosters and coaches comments in a few weeks, a better picture maybe available.
Several more bits of info to throw into the prediction "pot".  Hamilition FYs arrived last week and the football recruits met with the HC as part of Orientation week....parents too.  There is a short video on the Amherst website via twitter....go to the football site.  It contains new hashtag mottos and highlights from last season with returning offensive players, I believe.  Sort of a promo video for both Amherst players and opponent players...I believe.

Not to turn our attention from the pesky Millenials, but on the other end of the spectrum, I'm wondering how long Cosgrove will plan to stay at Colby. It looks like an exciting hire, but for how long?

frank uible

Give Cosgrove some breathing room! He hasn't coached for a game at Colby yet, and now there is talk here  about moving on.
