Bowdoin's ED2 decisions typically are released in the first week of February . . .

The official date for ED decision at Bowdoin is 2/15. However, like ED1 schools sometimes leak a decision early considering the commitment to the college in ED1 or ED2 is binding.

Nope -- Feb 15 is the latest possible date for the release of ED2 decisions that Bowdoin puts on its website in case in needs extra time to process ED2 applications but it is not the actual date for the release of acceptances.  Bowdoin's ED2 decisions were officially released in both 2017 and 2018 on Feb. 2 . . .

Quicksilver-

Thank You-I stand corrected- I'm told there is more variation here than thought. A Trinity friend advises that their ED 2 decision date is 2/1. Some changes in recent years.

Yes -- Bowdoin (and several others) have gotten very quick on completing the ED2 process. If past is prologue (it is not always when it comes to admissions practices), we could see ED2 decisions at Bowdoin as early as by this Friday

Former Eph QB Sean Gleeson (formerly coaching at Princeton) was just named Oklahoma State's offensive coordinator.  He is one of several Ephs in prominent coaching roles in college football (head coaches Dan DiCenzo at Wesleyan and Dave Clawson at Wake Forest, and Mike Bajakian, who recently became Offensive Coordinator at Boston College).

Also, per the @TrinFootball twitter account it looks like the Bantams' record-breaking kicker Eric Sachse will be continuing his career as a graduate student at Boise State, undoubtedly looking to make a similar career path as Middlebury alumnus and longtime NFL kicker Steven Hauschka:

Just curious about what each school's fan base thinks about next year's teams. Which offensive and defensive players or units do you predict will have a breakout season?

Trin8-0,
I checked out Spencer Fetter's highlights and Twitter. He looks solid and did receive some offers from bigger schools and at least one Ivy.

Just wondering, how do these "recruiting sites" know if a player has been offered by an Ivy school?  This is not public knowledge, there are no announcements made by Ivy schools.  Is it based purely on speculation?  Is it based on SA's social media?

Great idea NBC93...

I'm curious, why would he go to a D3 school (NESCAC is tops, academically) and pass on Harvard and Brown (especially with the new coaching staff).....plus the article I read had other Ivies interested in him.

I think some student athletes prefer a smaller school atmosphere and may not want to spend the entire college experience tied to the football program. My son liked the D3 feel without losing academic quality. Heck, even the governor of Massachusetts said in a speech that he regretted going to Harvard and not a NESCAC school. I think it was Hamilton.

Another reason to go the D3 route over a D1 offer is the prospect of immediate playing time.  Trinity, however, returns two talented QBs, including one who finished the season as the starter, played really well, and has three years of eligibility remaining, which seems like a less-than-appealing situation for a QB prospect with aspirations to see the field early in his career.  If Fetter is good enough to start over both of those QBs as a frosh ... the rest of NESCAC is in for a long four years.

Although I forget the term, and Nescac schools might use the same term, but if a player could get into the school regardless of the sport, those kids go on a special "list" and in reality don't even count.  They are just students who are going to play whatever sport they are going to play.

I believe the preferred term is "genius"....

Ha that is one of them.  But I coached a HS kid a while back who went to Harvard and remember the Harvard coach telling me years later that the kid was a "----" and the name escapes me.  This kid was All-Ivy too and went to some NFL camps to but the coaches didn't need to pull any strings for him (not sure how the financials go there).

BJ Hammer is moving quickly to bring some of his own people to Bowdoin. The Allegheny O coordinator -- Braden Layer -- will assume a similar position at Bowdoin as will the Allegheny O-line coach (Matt Cochran).
