hey, when is kicloff coming out/. anyone have any ideas on the recruiting classes????? any florida kids coming down, turns out that a kid from our old town named wrapp is a rb going to williams I think, stpales was a good ct team. The other rb there was a friend of my son, good kids as well best of luck to them, My boy elliot will enjoy seeing old friends. I here Bates got a good lineman from gc in li from a coach friend there coach thomas, hear the kid is quite the athlete. On an up note my sons buddy sam young is slated to start for notre dame as a freshmen, wenger is 2 in depth chart and adkins should start for florida all true freshmen. That should more than motivate him that freshmen can compete.

I predict that Weslyan wins 4 games this year...anyone with me on that?

I'm assuming you're joking, or just trying to get some chatter going. Here's the Cards '06 schedule

at Middlebury
Hamilton
at Colby
at Bates
Amherst
Bowdoin
at Williams
Trinity

There's a chance for 2 wins, MAYBE 3.

Hamilton vs. Wesleyan - week 2. Thats a huge game, I heard theres a chance it will be on the YES network. Word is that bullfrog will be doing color commentary. In fact, they should just have that be the last game... could you imagine the pressure on the seniors from both of those teams to get that one lonely win and not go 0 for the season.

I am actually very serious...

They do not have a bad team this year...

Coaching will be better, and they will want to win more than ever after an 0-8 season!

Trin9-0

dirty: What four teams could the Cards even be competitive with? I'll give you Hamilton, Bates and MAYBE even Middlebury. But Trin, Colby, Williams and Amherst are way out of their league. That leaves Bowdoin who went 6-2 last year, beating the Cards 35-10.

They do have a new defensive coordinator, and new position coaches at running back, tight end, outside linebacker and wide reciever. However, they'll still throw the ball 60 times and give up 28 points per game. They would need to make a much bigger commitment to the running game, and pull off a few suprising upsets to get to 4 wins.

First of all...

I agree that it is a long shot, but there is a possibility.

They have a few very good players on defense that are a year older and hungry for a win after last season.

They return a vast number of starters on both sides of the ball.

Bowdoin had a great season last year...but I do not think they continue their winning ways this year.

Bates could be the sleeper this year?  I do not know to much about them, but it seems like they are starting to focus on their football team once again.

I also think the Bants winning streak will end this year...we have outstanding players and great coaching, but it just does'nt feel like the last four years...

Thoughts...comments?

I will see you on September 23rd...can't wait!

cruiser

sept 23rd will be a great test for both trinity and colby and a good barometer on how both teams will fare this season

The first game of the year could determine the eventual NESCAC champion!  How carzy is that...

RHFandyouknowit

rooneyhufsfarts had to be put down... but it lives on in our hearts.

Couple of things.  Carpenter is not the one in China, its Butler, another dline starter from last year, but a player not on the same level as carp and lanz, who are both 1st teamers no question about it.

Also, it is a little early but i was thinkin about how many more games trin would need to break Oklahomas record 47 consecutive wins.  (i know i know mt union and others have more, but OK's 47 is the benchmark as far as im concerned).  Turns out they will need to go undefeated this season, the next, and win the first two games of the next season to beat the record.  you know what that means....we have another epic Trin vs Williams games with serious bragging rights at stake.  see yall at the Colby game

Ok, your a division 3 team thats played probably only 9 games during that winning streak against teams that would have had winning records in real northeast d3 football (Empire 8, LL, NJAC) and you dont want to compare yourselves to Mt Unions streak?  You gotta be kidding me

Trin9-0

RHF: I'm going to have to agree with Utah. It's debatable which streak is more impressive, but Mt Union is definately the benchmark for any D3 team. Even if Trin was able to eclipse either mark, the fact that they are not playoff eligible would put a HUGE asterisk next to that number (at least in terms of national recognition).

Right now, I'd be happy to get to 32-0 and see where it goes from there. NESCAC season starts 1 month from today!

(sorry about the Carpenter-Butler mix up  :-[)

Butler is a good player, but nowhere near carpenter...I feel better now.

Any chance that Stetson will be able to turn around the Hamilton program in the next couple years?  He's been pretty successful in the other places he's been (including Hamilton in early 80's).  In mid-90's they were a solid 5-3 team for a while and it would be nice to add another competetive team to the mix in the NESCAC.

Stetson can turn Hamilton around.  Hes a great recruiter and a great coach.  Id even expect to see a lot of freshman starting for Hamilton this year.

One thing Stetson will need is the support from the administration. He'll be Hamilton's 4th head coach in the last 6 years.

He lead the Continentals to a 9-14-1 record from '82-'84. A big improvement on the 2-38 record from '73-'81. It will be interesting to see if he can again turn around a dismal program.  Hamilton has gone 10-62 over the past 9 seasons.
